Where did you get the information about Dink Smallwood in the first place?
I got it from a magazine called MikroBitti.

Actually, MikroBitti includes a bonus disk with all kinds of free/demo games every year. To say it precisely.

Yup, me too. It's been quite popular. Heck it's free and it's good (for a free game), so why not

I still have the CD for nostalgic reasons.

So far, everyone has only told about CD or magazine. Wow. And I thought someone would actually think "Hmm... Let's go to www.rtsoft.com... maybe there's a site there..."

You are on your way to destruction

On topic: I found the demo (1.01 ) on a shareware cd.
I still have that cd, maybe I could upload the demo to TDN so you can all see how different Dink was back then

I was searching the web for an adventure game, when my brother in law told me to look on a particular site (cnet I think). Dink was the best free game I found.

I was searching for demos, and found the one for dink. Loved it and baught it online. It came to me in a big padded envelope on which was hand written: "Enjoy the game! Seth's mom". Came with a patch on a floppy.

I first found it on a cd with free games, it was in Russian. I played and I wasn't able to get out of the first town XD
Later I remembered the name "Dink" and I googled for it. Found this site, downloaded and started playing a lot

Stories could be best told in a D-Mod... Alas that exceeds my current programming level...

I first installed the demo from a CD that came with an issue of the PC Gamer magazine. Somehow, in my infinite wisdom, I had confused Dink Smallwood with a write-up about Baldur's Gate in the same issue. I remember walking into Smilestein's house and thinking "Jeez, this isn't that great." It was uninstalled in short-order.

A few issues later, Micheal Wolff (sp?) wrote an article detailing the modability of Dink, and how it was possible to make entirely new games easily. This piqued my interest, so I played the new demo (that let you play through Terris), and got my brother to pitch-in half of the $25.00 to purchase the game.

He isn't on the DN as far as I know, but it might be the case. He's quite sneaky.

Also he didn't ever release his D-Mod. At least not here.

What it was? It was... weird. I don't know much of it... it might never even see the light of the DN. But then again, it might someday. I really don't speak him that often anymore, which is a shame, sorta.

It was actually my sister who found this game, since in a computer magazine we just to get, had 1 free game in it, and rest of it was either shareware or tryouts. And that magazine is over 5 years old, since I played Dink Smallwood before I moved to my new house, which was 6 years ago.

Some years ago, the PC-gamer magazine gave you a CD with many demos, including the whole game of Dink Smallwood. I tried it and thought it just were a ugly boring game. But when i started play it, I found it very cool and amusing

I was searching for a free rpg/adventure type game so many years ago, and happened upon a site that listed some free games, and there was Dink Smallwood. I love this game...and to think I almost passed it over after reading the bad review the guy gave it.

Yup, I have been recommending many people to play Dink but then warned them from the anticlimatic introduction that said "Help Dink kill ducks and save the world". They propably thought the whole game is about Some weirdo called Dink in a small wood, killing every duck to save the world. Pehaps it needs a new introduction?

He liked egged me to play it. didn't really want to but one night he was playing it in the Darklands and I got heaps interested so he installed on my computer. When I finished it I went to wikipedia and typed Dink in search, read what it said and found it had a link here and lo behold, now I'm a member.

My journey to The Dink Network was a little different... after I had finished Dink Smallwood, my sister went to RTsoft, somehow found this site, started downloading a D-Mod(I don't remember which one), it took a long time but... for some reason that computer's internet connecntion was kinda... odd. When I was enough time online, the system said something that "restarting computer in 60 seconds due to errors in the connection", then the whole system restarted. Unfortunately, this effect happened when downloading the D-Mod. "98%...99%... 2 SECONDS TIME LEFT...!!" Restart. It was up to only 2 seconds. I Rolled On the Floor in pain, and it left me a thought that it is impossible to download D-Mods and I never again tried it. Until we got this new computer that didn't restart online. Soon I got curious and entered RTsoft myself, but didn't find any D-Mods to download. I got lost enough to enter the Chat Board and found someone who's name I don't remember saying something about www.dinknetwork.com. I entered, downloaded the DFarc thingy and then ------->>>>>> I zoomed to the D-Mods link. Downloaded a few D-Mods, then I got an urge to get a Dink Account. Mother didn't let me to because I had to tell my E-Mail address. I was sad. Months if not years after it I just had to join. So I'm not as new here as you might think.
