Australia has had it share of the oppressed and usually innocent victims of oppressive regiemes such as those of Vicotrian England, as it forebearers. People were sent from the United Kingdom to Australia for pinching a loaf of bread to feed their starving children, it is true.
But not all of my country's founders were convicts and not all were even English. But then the English forget so often that they are not the only race/nation in history, as they find it hard to see past their own inflated self-importance.
Many people came to The Land Down Under as tradesman, missionaries, etc. Many have come from Europe and Asia - not to mention the aboriginals who were the first race to settle here.
My ancestors happen to be German, on both sides of my family (with some English blood mixed in - I had a great uncle who was a paratrooper in WWII)...
Anyway, I have been to England, a number of times (and are always very happy to be heading home - miserable wet, cloudy place that England is). I have lived in Denmark for 2 years. I have been to the USA, Asia, Africa...

Great beaches, great weather, great women... you can't beat it.

Considering that your original post was just one more pointless comment, no you didn't touch a nerve. But for me that two word post encapsulates your character entirely. Small, silly, and astoundingly uneducated. You say things without thinking, just for the sake of hearing yourself. I wonder, did your parents not pay you enough attention to you when you grew up? Your country produced one of the first serial killers (good ol' Jack), not to mention many other infamous criminals including the Yorkshire Ripper, the kid who fed his mother Thallium, Dr Christie, some other Doctor who killed off nearly a hundred of his patients, the two wonderful boys who bashed that two year old and left him on the train tracks. In terms of producing these wonderful additions to society I'm afraid the UK wins - Australia's meagre attempts but pale into insignificance in this area. I guess it only goes to show that the really evil genes stayed at home.
And shall we touch on your great Secret Service and their part in making sure the Royal Family stayed pure? No best to leave that stone unturned, so that all the nasties that hide in your society can stay under their respective rocks.

SabreTrout is right. You're taking it too seriously. This board constantly tears down America which makes my blood boil but there's no sense in trying to start a board war.
