Hello Hello!
Hi, just checking in - amazed at all the D-Mods there are!!
I had a few comments about mine, if you were around back when I was writing
D-Mods. First, you guys must have gotten a LOT better at it than I or anybody else was back then. Keep in mind that when the Quest for Arithia trilogy was written, there weren't many/any "large" or "quest" D-Mods at all - if there were, I can't recall. When the Arithia D-Mods were released, they were among the best available. I realize this is far from true with all the choices today, but for it was "groundbreaking" for its time.
My first D-Mod, "The Scar of David" - was the *first* 3rd-party D-Mod ever made. Seth had written the Milli Vanilli one, but the word "D-Mod" wasn't used until I suggested that there be some kind of term for these modules instead of just "add-on." I remember (vaguely) when I wrote Scar - Dink fans were excited about making add-ons, but nobody really knew how to do it yet. It was fun being there to help get things off the ground, with Redink1 and others!
Dinkanoid wasn't supposed to be original, not in the sense that "I" invented breakout. I purposely used the Arkanoid logo and Arkanoid music. The point was that I wanted to make a totally un-Dink game *using* the Dink engine. It was an experiment - I had more fun writing Dinkanoid than I did any of the others, because I was playing around with changing aspects of how the game works. Sure, there are problems -- a slow-down before the "ball" is lost, apparently it's too fast on faster machines (I expected that the Dink engine itself handles speed issues - I guess it doesn't). There were never any big "bugs" though. Somebody mentions that the save games don't work. I'm kind of surprised. Saving always worked wonderfully! :-/

Then, Dink's Doppelganger. It was actually going to be a commercial project at one point. I really don't remember the full plan - possibly I was going to sell Zolan Wars (never started) using Dink's Doppelganger as freebie bait. At the time, there was a lot of controversy on whether or not people had a "right" to sell D-Mods. Seth certainly didn't mind, but I think the "free free free" thinking was just too ingrained in the community. It was a moot point though, my fiance at the time (broke up after about 7 months -- I'm married now to a wonderful girl, been together nearly 3 years) felt neglected and made me choose between her and my games. :-/ It's really disappointing though. I can't readily remember exactly what was going to happen in the Zolan Wars. There was a lot dealing with the "mirror" Dink, time travel (Rozarus), the alien invaders (who are "good" in the world of Dink's Doppelganger - but "evil" in the real Dink's world). There was going to be a point where Dink is able to save the chick (can't remember her name) from dying at the hands of the Evil Dink (at least, I think I'm remembering this right) by going back in time. Yadda yadda yadda. Coulda woulda shoulda.
Anyway, it's cool to see that there are so MANY D-Mods, and apparently a larger following now than when I was doing it!
Take care!!

LOL, well I'm not necessarily "back" - it looks like you guys run circles around me in D-Mod Authoring now. I've got a huge project that's been in the works for over 4 years (not Dink related). That and Lunatix has pretty much kept me busy!
But it's great to feel welcomed!!

Nice you see you around, did you know that probably more than have the d-mods are based off your Skeleton_B. That makes thing alot easier, especially for new authors.
P.S. did you ever get that Prowler?

Hi again.
I remember that the Scar of David was the first d-mod I played.
Your d-mods are great!

If you guys say you like his d-mods so much, why don't any of them have a 9.0 or better? I mean no disrespect; I'm just making a point.
Wow, it's really neat seeing you here. Dink's Doppleganger was the first non-RT soft d-mod I played, and it really did set the standard for many other d-mods, in my opinion. It even inspired certain aspects of my own d-mod, like the fact that I never finished it
Here's a point. You were not around when he was. This is back when the dink engine was limited, and d-mod making concepts weren't as advanced as they were today. When Dinkanoid was released, it left people in awe because of how it used when the limited dink engine could do. This is back when where Prophecy of the Achients was released, it's mass size left people in awe. It was a diffrent time.
Also, Mike, I have respectfully linked your files to your account name so you can take full credit of them.

That's so cool, you stopping by! Yeah, Skeleton B! A lot tried to improve it, but no one could.
Nice to have you on DN (again).

Oh yeah! Skeleton_B, I almost forgot about that (It's "B" because the first one had a couple problems). Anyway, thanks for the continued Hello's!! You guys are so organized here! And I still can't get over how *many* D-Mods there are!!
Maybe.... just maybe.... as a break from my web games one of these days, I should write that Zolan Wars D-Mod. I wouldn't even remember how, now, but it'd probably come back. Any idea of how large a following Dink still has? It seems to me that if anything, it's *bigger* than before!

We have registered 1105 accounts, 121 which have been used in the past 30 days, and probably about 50 or more regulars. That should give a good picture of the community.
I'd like to offer my belated greetings. You most likely dunno who I am; I arrived almost immediately after the freeware version was released. Been playin' Dink ever since.
I've always wondered about the Zolan Wars D-Mod (seriously! ). The majority of us were sure it'd never happen, but seeing it one day would certainly be a pleasant surprise.
