DinkC Reference - Book
A printed DinkC Reference book is now available for purchase. The cost is $11.77, plus tax and shipping-and-handling where applicable.
It contains the same content as the DinkC Reference .chm file included with Dink Smallwood v1.08, with a few formatting changes so it feels like a book.
Each book is printed on-demand, and I am charging the base-price for the books, so I don't receive any money by selling them.
I have one for myself, sent a couple out as contest prizes, and thought I might as well allow other people to purchase them.
Here are some pictures of my copy, which is slightly out-of-date:
DinkC Reference next to Mastering Regular Expressions
DinkC Reference on top of Mastering Regular Expressions
DinkC Reference actually has content
DinkC Reference has pictures
DinkC Reference has yellow-ish pages

I will buy one. I don't have pay pal or anything though, so how can I do this?
It looks like Cafepress (the web site / company that prints the books and accepts orders) only accepts credit cards:
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and check cards (as long as they are connected with one of the major credit card companies listed above). You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information. - Payment Methods.

How much will the overall fee be?
Just go to the bank and get a Visa Gift Card, it acts like a credit card for people under 18.

But once you turn 18, it grows up too and stops pretending to be somethings it's not.
Acctully no, I'v had 7 of them, they die as soon as they run put of money.

Is there any way we can get this for free?
Yes, I know. I'm a scab.

Yes, just use the digital format.
And print it yourself, you save transport costs.

But then it doesn't have a cover, nor pictures, nor yellowish pages.
Go to a Dinker's garage sale. It may not be free, but maybe you could get a bargain, if you could find one.
I don't think there are any on right now. :'(
Cafepress has upgraded their printing process, and now the paper is much more white. Yay.
And no, there is no way to get a free book.

Arr! The rebellion will star, because that book's not free!
For those of you (us) that don't have
checking accounts, or credit cards, I
suggest going to the post office (or where
ever) and getting a "Money Order" for the
correct amount.

I tried to print it, and the printer broke down in the middle of the book
Do Cafèpress accept paypal? I will transfer some cash money over there soon, and I'd love to get a DinkC Reference.

Mr. Dude is correct:
CafePress.com accepts credit cards, CafeCash and CafePress.com gift certificates as payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and check cards (as long as they are connected with one of the major credit card companies listed above). You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information.
Paying by Check Card? If you're paying with a Visa Check Card, or MasterMoney Card enter it as if it was a regular credit card.
We're sorry but we do not accept checks, money orders, or paypal at this time.
Hmm... I could act as an intermediary, if necessary. So you could pay me with paypal, and I would use that to pay for the book using my fancy American credit card.

I have sent you a personal message Redink1.
I'll keep that in mind, Dan. First, I'll try to win the contest, but if that fails, you'll probably hear from me again.
I do not really get what this book is about. (help!) But is it still available? I cannot open the original file because of Vista probably.
This book is one kind of a tutorial that teaches you on how to use DinkC.

It's basically a book with all lines you can do with DinkC and how those lines works, limits and such.
This is the same as the Chm file that comes with Dink. No point in buying it unless you like hoarding books.
No, it's not. Much more info in this book. Besides, it's a book!!

Of course Skull. When did you get your copy?

There are some additional pieces of text in the beginning of the book, I think, and there a bunch of pictures in it, too.
And, ofcourse, a book is much cooler than a computer file!

And.... it has yellowish pages I heard...
At least your eyes don't suffer that much from reading it.
Has anyone really bought one in the last couple of years? With the new stickies added, I think this can be unstikcied, especially considering I have a bunch of DinkC Reference Books lying around here for prizes anyway.
I think you should leave it stickied. If I never make anything prize-worthy I'm planning on buying one once I get a source of income.
I bought one a couple of months ago. It's awesome.
Alright, thanks for the quick replies. Good to see people are still interested in the book!
The book is still available on the website, you just need to have credit card access or the other mentioned payment options at your disposal to get one. I have my trusty DinkC Referrence on my computer desk next to me (but it's not very yellow when it comes to the pages?).
dont blame me if i sneaks into your house and steal it
Random question I was asked, yet it has also made me curious:
Just how many copies have been sold to date?
Not that Redink'll read this himself.

Nice, the store no longer works now that I have some cash for one of these things.
The Gods conspire against me.

I'm not surprised after your previous two posts here
Do you get the "We're Sorry, You've Encountered an Error!" page? Odd, it worked for me the first time when I tested just now but it now seems to be broken too. Do what they say and email customer service I guess if it doesn't work later...

Yeah just got the error message myself first-click... Lucky I already bought a copy
That awkward moment when you try to click "Like" on ExDeathEvn's post on TDN....
It's back up, ordered one, now I finally can say that I'm an actual Dinker.
At least, according to me.

I just bought one too.
I guess that's just.. how I roll.

Haha mine's gathering dog-ears along with my various other holy books
Even though I haven't done anything with Dink in a long while, I currently have a very strong urge to buy this book.

Maybe you have that urge for a reason - because you know when it arrives, it will increase your motivation to once again, starting doing stuff with dink.

I have the book too, now I love doing stuff with my dink.
Mine looks like a religious fanatic's bible; worn at the spine, dog ears on various pages, multiple colors of sticky notes poking out the sides. It's pretty sweet, I've been considering getting a second one and having it leather-bound with gold engraving. To answer the obvious follow-up question: Why not?
Well, that's a bummer; it looks like Cafepress stopped their book printing business.
If I can find the PDF and images, I'll try to make the book available through Createspace instead.

Woah, there's a way to run a business. Randomly stop production of something and tell no one.
Thanks redink. Let us know how you go, looking forward to buying one.
"Woah, there's a way to run a business. Randomly stop production of something and tell no one."
Not to mention they never replied to the request I sent them.

I'd be interested as well, either hard copy or PDF
Any update on the progress of this?
Nothing so far; there's a slim chance I could find some time in the next couple months to and get this (and the COTPATD book) ready to be republished.
Any update on this? Getting the COTPATD book really got me wanting a replacement for my DinkC Reference.
Upon opening the dinkc.chm, just go to the print options, export it as .htm format, (although I forgot the complete method in doing that, so just find yourself a way for that), then the thing starts making .jpg files for the .htm file. With the print orientation options I selected, it rendered everything in 112 pages, (in jpg files). Now go to the directory where you exported the .htm, then go to the folder where the data files of the.htm are, then copy all .jpg files, then print them manually. But you might not like the output result though, because the display format quite sucks. But you can make use of the.jpg files
My purpose actually is to make them readable in a smartphone, so when im not using a PC, I can atleast
review DinkC.
