I am starting on a new dmod, and this one seems to be running smoothly.

Story So Far:
Dink has been sent to find a lost relic of the Ancients, but when he does, The Ancients themselves come to him and inform him that he has a forum, and that spammers have been destroying it. (It tried to make that part humorous). They teleport Dink to a desert that is the Dink Network city, and Dink must find his way to the forum to defeat the final boss.

Fighting:
I have all the misc. spammers as farmers so far, but the minor booses will be different.
Pills and boncas have been placed around, and other usual monsters.

Areas:
This part I have really had some fun with, becasue I plan to make the game where you can start on one spot and go to a whole different one. (Desert to mountain range, mountain range to cave, etc.)

Misc. Stuff:
I have been working on a way to have multiple endings, but they end in completely different ways. Like in one spot, Dink finds an evil old guy that is summoning a super-spammer, but it turns out an offer for Dink to become a comedian. I hope that works ok, and I will always make a choice and a spot to get back if you don't like how it is going once you choose.

I have made DD95, Tal, and Redink1 part of the DMOD, I plan to add more as well. The forum is made of how the real old forum looked, with the floor tiles on the left side, the sword at the top, the text, the black and blue strupied tiles, all that stuff. I want to put a screenshot but they turn out funny and I can't find the Dink Pallete for Paint Shop Pro 4. But anyway, it's about %53 done.

EDIT: Oh, yeah! I was going to have Chaotic Dink website as a stronghold aginst the spammers.

Oh that's easy..... I know that I'm halfway done on thinking about what I'm going to do, and I have finished 4 percent on actually working.

Seriously, though, I have got quite a bit done. A whole 5 percent......

Davince: Hhmmmm, yes that would good. Maybe FB5 and Blackguard coukd be guards into the forum and the only way to get their is to cross The Chaotic Dink webpage! Man, I'm good!

Magicman: Been there, done that. The ducks represent all the spammers that have been banned. Psychics. But since it was my genius idea that came up with it, that means... you're a genius to!

Thanks, DD95. And I will probably need some help quite often. As a matter of fact....
I got this snow tile set off of reiner's tilesets, and it's in the right pixels, I even shortened it. I can put on the screen in the editor, but when Dink sees it in the game,
it's plain white. I figured it wasn't that important anyway, so I used the original snow, but I thought it fit better.

A Few Random Scripts That I thought might be good to put here ( I have chopped off the say_stop(" stuff becasue when I am not actually working on my Dmod and just looking at it my brain hurts).:
Evil Summoner - "And from the depths of the eternal suffering of being banned, may your spirit rise!"
<creates exploding fire thingy>
"Rise, Rise!" -Evil Summoner
<creates two more fire things>
<from a black pit on the screen starts talking>
"RRRAAAAARRRR! Who dares wake Nogori?"
Evil Summoner(E S) It is I! The Leader of the Nighthawks!"

That's all I have for that part, I haven't finished it yet so I'm leaving it open to suggestions.

Now, in one misc. area I have Dink travel to The Land Of The Dinks, where Dink's from Dmods live in paradise. The only way to get out is to see the oracle, find out about the mysterious force known as Pillbug, and destroy him! This is the script from The Happy Sunshine Land Dink.

Dink - What game are you from?
HSL- I don't like to talk about it.
Dink- Aw, come on! Tell me!
HSL- Are you sure?
Dink - Yes, tell me!
HSL - *sigh* Fine, I'm from Happy Sunshine Land.
Dink-...
Dink- YOU INHUMAN MONSTER!
<hurts him>
Dink - TAKE THIS!
<hurts him>
HSL- Hey, hey! You're no better than me! We were all created by the same person!
Dink - *gasp!* You're right!
Dink - YOU WANT SOME RTSOFT?! YOU WANNA PIECE OF ME?
HSL - No, no! I mean Pillbug!
Dink - Who?
HSL - WHO?! Pillbug, the author of the Dmod you are in right now.
Dink - Oh.
HSL - You need to see the oracle. She'll tell you all about Pillbug
Dink - I see.... And where could I find this snorkle?
HSL - ORACLE! And she lives in a hidden cave. I can't tell you where.
Dink - Fine, but you just made the LIST!

Well, those aren't the exact scripts, but I don't really intend to make it super funny.

Update: As soon as I figure out to turn them into jpg files, my screenshots will be posted here. Does anyone know how to convert .bmp to .jpg? (I'm kind of advancing from how to place a sprite on a screen to how to covert images).

Update 2: Mountain range, shop, and desert area completed. I am now working on my problem of how to balance homework and Dink.
Ah well, priorities first. <goes back to creating game>

Open the picture and click File > Save As and there's probably a drop-down box under where you type the name in to choose the file type, but it's easier just to type .jpg after the name (eg. name.jpg) and it'll save a .jpg version.

That should work whatever program you're using I think.

Hey, that looks pretty cool, though I'd replace the invisible blocking sprites with hardness tiles (unless you're using them to trigger touch based scripts).

I like the first screenshot, those are some nice new graphics. As for the other screens... They're pretty barren. On the castle screen, some variety in the grass, a few trees and some details here and there would make it look immensely much better. On the desert screen, all the stuff is in one place, adding something near the bottom might help with that.

Well, I didn't know ho well that would work since that screen is a split between one area and another.

The rest of that area is pretty detailed, and it's the Dink from the main game's castle so it won't have flowers and stuff. I could put trees and things like that in, though.

To Striker: I usually don't use tile hardness editing, but yeah, sure. It would cut down on being able to slip through fences. I used fences on the bottom, though, becasue there is a secret entrance where you can....nevermind.

I've always found it easier to use tiles... it comes in handy when you want to limit the number of the number of sprites you have to deal with on screen.

How come the Dink engine only allows 100 sprites per screen? What didn't they make it bigger. Or even better, no limit at all!

You don't know the half of it. I spent a good hour or so downloading new stuff, and I must say, hour and a half well spent!

I'm hoping it will turn out okay by January, but if theres one thing I hate it's a deadline. So, maybe by December (not this one, the next one).

EDIT: I have added a bit more on the castle screen.

I plan to fix the spikes on the edges of the Chaotic Dink screenshot. Never noticed em until now.

The fight between FB5, BlackGuard, and Dink, I plan to be a bit of a different kind of fight. Maybe a puzzle, but as you can see, physical attacks would be impossible unless you used magic, or a throwing axe, or a bow, or any long ranged weapon. But it would prpbably get boring shooting at one thing after another without being able to dodge.

Putting no limits suddenly becomes a lot more difficult to create, since you can't have a variable-sized array in C/C++. You'd have to make a linked list, etcetera.

Anyway, the main reason is that it was never thought more than that was needed, and to keep the engine safe from crashing or similar things (don't forget this game is from The Days There Wasn't A Lot Of RAM To Work With).

Making a linked list in C is so incredibly simple that I don't really consider that the reason it was not done that way.

Here are my guesses as to why:

1) By using a static number, Seth could just dump the structs describing the map tiles into a file, and load it again. With a variable amount of sprites, one would have to write a more complex save and load function.

2) Back in the day, resources were scarce, CPU, memory and disks were a lot smaller than today. The limit makes it harder to overload the computer running the game. So yeah, I agree with you partially.

If you get defeated, Dink just uses it as a gate to the forum of the DN. (You are partners)

If I use ashashes' website, it would blow up.

EDIT: I plan to ashashes' website a sidequest-
but I still want it to blow up.
Anybody have a good nuclear bomb graphic, with a huge mushroom cloud? Maybe a few heat-seeking missiles?
