New Site In Development
I have started creating a Google Pages site. It's rather incomplete so far. So no point in anyone going there yet. So anyway I was wondering what you'd like to see on it. Who knows... if I like your suggestion it might just make it onto the site.
Google Pages is a Google Labs product where you can make a site for free. You use Google Pages Creator (a online service) to make it.

Screenshots and information about your upcoming D-Mods would be nice, I guess. Yes, I know, there's already your blog, but it could have a bit more info. Perhaps.
Umm, no redink1, I don't think so. Well, maybe the paper bags...
D'oh! I'm embarrased I didn't think of that. That's an obvious idea! Silly me! A page about my books might be a good idea too I think. Hopefully I'll be able to link you guys to a prelimnary version in a few days. If you really want to look at it I've put the link in my profile. I don't know why, though, since it's in such an incomplete state that it's utter crap.
There. I have an updated version of my blog and content from my Dmod News thread there. I also gave the blog the same updates and added the same info from the thread into the blog. I will add screenshots soon.
the search button is your friend.

Rationality does not remove forgetfulness. In fact I have more than my fair share of forgetfulness. Is anyone short of some? If they are I'd be happy to give them some of mine?
Come talk to the Prince of Forgetfulness, me. (The King being my father.)
As for suggestions for website content.. well, if you've given us absolutely no idea what your website is about, how about you come up with some stuff so we can possibly expand upon it or criticize it for you? As redink1's post jestfully implied, if you have nothing for us to base a suggestion off of, we could suggest.. well, anything.

The point was to suggest anything. I don't care what. The site is basically abouyt thi8ngs that I find interesting so is very broad in scope. Just recommend things that interest you and if I like them as well, I'll use them.
I did come up with some new ideas while at uni today. So I already have heaps of ideas. Any suggestions would be still be welcome, however.

I think this might already be featured on a couple of sites, but you could have pictures of naked people.
Nope. My site is going to be one that people of any age can view.
Even very young people can look at naked people, it's much easier to understand then, let's say programming. Still we deem a site about programming suitable for all ages and think a site with pictures of naked people is suitable only for the older viewer. I mean forbidding young children to see nudity is like making them go into slavery!
A "lost Dmods" page where you keep some rare Dmods...
I like the part where you put in your philosophies, although both the premisse and the derivation is a bit thin
And I thought it would be about books? I like books! Especially fantasy

Looks really nice. The info about your D-Mod looks great. Can't wait until the demo is atually released.
I disgree with you on the 'writer's advice' part, though. You can be published even if you're copying someone else's work.
Proof?
J.K. Rowling.
EDIT : I also agree with metatarasal's comment about nudity - however, nude pictures on DraconicDink's website would be pretty pointless.

Thin? How so? If you're reffering to what is on the page so far... well that page is extremely incomplete and more will be added in the near future.

I already have plans to do exactly that. Including for books other than my own. In fact I will cover short stories as well. I'll be covering fantasy and science fiction especially.

No, I don't think so. Google Pages is a free service so I probably have a limited amount of disk space available.
ADDITION: I looked into it and indeed there is a limit. It's 100MB.

I disgree with you on the 'writer's advice' part, though. You can be published even if you're copying someone else's work.
My advice came from a book from established writer and retired university lecturer on writing, Les Edgerton. The published author, David Morrell, also covered it breiefly in his book. To quote Les:
"When you are trying to be an author you are trying to get someone to like you, to be your friend. When you try to make friends in social scenes you only get them by being you, not by copying others. It's the same with your writing."
Proof?
J.K. Rowling.
I think you're confusing two different things. She is similar to others not the same. She has her own unique elements to her writing. Just because she has elements to her writing doesn't mean she isn't unique. It is okay to have similar elements to others, even to have them inspire you in some way. That does not kill her uniqueness. What I meant by "be yourself not someone else" is to not copy someone else 100% or to copy others so that none of your style is your own. JK Rowling does not do that. As long as you don't copy someone in that way your personality will come across on the page. This is using your own style and is achieved through your choice of words. Anything else is not a matter of style but rather other things such as content. That's where she copies. That's where it is okay to copy, as long as it isn't taken to far. However, her own personality comes across on the page through her unique word usage. Otherwise she would never of been published. Editors do not accept styles that are copied. They know people can spot a hack and won't read a novel from a hack.
Perhaps I should add that stuff to the writer's advice section so that my point is clearer...
Thanks.

I was thinking of maybe using a free forum provider to do a forum and linking to it from the site. What do you guys think? Should I do that?
The lameness of forums on personal homepages exceeds any humanly imaginable amount, and thus I would suggest you refrain.
There! I've added three screenshots for my dmod on the page for it.
I'm really sorry, but the map design on these screenshots is very crude to say the least... or aren't they finished yet?
Usually someone's (unless a celebrity) personal homepage about oneself doesn't raise so much discussion that it couldn't be handled in a guestbook. Forums tend to stay empty and as there are no new participants, the old ones go away, and the whole thing dies. And an empty, dead forum is rather lame
Well, the forum won't only be for things that interest me. it'll be for things that interest others too. It also provide a hanfy way for people to give me suggestion, complaints, and comments on the site. As for the guestbook odea... I have no idea how to implement that.
The demo is only 53% complete so some screens are lacking all the detail I intend. I don't remember right now if those screens are among that lot. So anyway, what's so "crude" about them?
I'd like to note that the dragon's cave is meant to be barren. This is beacuse dragons have no need for material possessions.

Thanks for the clarification about copying, I now understand what you mean. And I agree with you for the most part.
About those screenshots, I think they look nice and not crude at all. (to anybody who thinks they're crude : play Goblinoma Z and Baywatch Isle. Seriously.) Perhaps the screen with the pillbugs should have a bit more background, however, such as a tree or some rocks (tile rocks, not sprite rocks) instead of just bushes.
Also, if there are to be four dragons, maybe the elements and the dragons' colours should be 'linked' (i.e., maybe the Air Dragon should be halfway invisible and a bit white, or at least less red, or something like that)?

You can get a guestbook exactly as easily as you can get a forum (if not even more easy). Suggestions, complaints and comments should be handled by some kind of a comment form (those, too, can be found as ready services online. Try a search on feedback forms or something).
Forums are for ongoing discussion by more or less permanent members - as I see it, anyway. Nobody else will care, if one of your visitors wants to point out he didn't like your choice of colors or something similar. And proper discussion will probably be found at sites that concentrate on some specific topics.
I think you should at least wait until your site gets a _lot_ of visitors before you start a forum. That way it won't seem as if you just desperately want someone to participate, but that you were kind of forced to, 'cause your feedback forms were getting so full

Ehm, you can also add a section giving the answer to the following question: how did you think of yalnar99.25aqi?
It looks like a password

It chooss because I didn't want those random email tguessing programs that mass spammers use guessing my email.

I thought that that clarification would do that. Just remember I've had 13 years of writing (I stated when I was 10 and am now 23). So I know quite a few things about how to do it.

Ah, tiles. Well, I admit that tile placement so far is a bit crude. But that's because I have yet to decide what to with tiles with most of the screens. Remember this the demo is only 53% complete (or about 18% of the dmod), so I still have a bit to go. And I just got a raft of uni assignments, which has seen my work on it come to a complete halt.
Also, if there are to be four dragons, maybe the elements and the dragons' colours should be 'linked' (i.e., maybe the Air Dragon should be halfway invisible and a bit white, or at least less red, or something like that)?
There is indeed going to be four dragons and they will indeed be different colours. The water dragon will be dark blue, the fire dragon will be red, and the earth dragon will be green. As for the air dragon... sorry for her colour at the moment. It's just that I have yet to get around to changing it yet. She's going to be light blue. I'm having a problem with doing it.

I have splent a lot of hard work and time getting the Wizard's Rules from the Sword of truth series onto my site. I got the info on them from a reliable SoT site. However, I will soon check the SoT books I own and can get from the library to make sure what I have is right. However, I think the gist of it is right. These are better illustrations of my views than what I have given (I agree with Terry Goodkind on every rule and every point of every rule).
By the way... I know that in the past I have asked you all not to correct my spelling, punctuation, or grammer because I don't appreciate it. However, the reverse is true for my site. I'd actually like to recieve advice on such things.
I've changed the dragon's colour so she's now blue. Then I moved her to a different screen. I then took a redone Screenshot 3 and uploaded the new version to my site.
I don't suppose anyone cares anymore, but the site has had a few minor changes, including a less unoriginal name.
