Internet Realationships
I've been in one. Incidentally with another member of this board.
As for a more general view, I'd say they can work, but are rather emotionally stressing.

I was in one once but I lost contact with her after losing my email account after losing my net connection for a while.
I'm in one now and it's good. Sure you have to deal with the long distance thing if they aren't near you, but that's okay. If you are planning on doing it, might I suggest getting pictures first I got lucky with mine, but a lot of other people on my buddy list were fugly. Lol. I don't think I've come across any bad people yet. And just for the record, I've met my girlfriend, and she is not some 80 year old man who wants to rape me. All in all, the internet is a good way to meet cool people, but background checks are always good just to be safe. As with all the bad people...I've yet to come across any on my ventures. As said, they do require lots of work. Also commitment, and especially trust, but they can in fact work out and make you happy.
This topic reminds me of that Dutch radio commercial about dating a computer.. "het klikte meteen"
(Translation: "it clicked right away".. dunno if it means the same in English ).

A relationship that starts as an internet relationship: No problem with that.
A relationship that stays like that forever: If I loved someone so much I was willing to be her boyfriend just over the internet moving together couldn't be too impossible. If she wouldn't want to be with me in real life I'd end the relationship though I doubt I'd fall in love so much over the internet in the first place anyway.
So nay, I don't think it's my thing. >< Maybe it can work for other people, but it's safe to assume it's at the very least least going to be more difficult than a real life relationship.

Yea. Plus the sort of surreality of the relationship and how easy it actually is to slip into making it nothing but just a chat session each day (- well, that was just towards the end, I guess). It would be ideal to be able to move from the internet relationship to an actual real-life see-each-other-more-than-once-a-year relationship sooner than there's grounds for realising you see each other once a year (i.e. it goes on for years)

Hey, there are a lot of girls outside, you don't need the internet to find one.
Sure, if your girlfriend lives in another town, the internet is a good way to stay connected to her.

I agree.
Slightly suggestive title though: realationships instead of relationships. I like it though...

Based on my experience and what I've seen in others... fine, unless they get serious. Then you either have to make arrangements to physically be together, otherwise it can be a real emotional she dog.
Well, some of us have had less than wonderful experiences with
internet romance but it can work for some couples. You should
keep in mind that even if they send a photo, it might not be
a photo of them. They might not even be the gender they say, or
the age.If you've talk on the phone then you probably know their
real gender but that's about all.If you decide to meet in person,
it's probably best to take a friend and meet in a nice, public place.
Just to be on the safe side.I think once you have gotten to know
the person offline and decide it's all good, then it probably is.
It's easy to misunderstand people online, not to mention that you
are reading their replies in your own voice(or mind). You can't help
but put some of your own personality into what they are typing.

So has anyone here tried to coerce someone to meet them by speaking in a younger/older voice or even one of the opposite sex?
That'd be funny.
Sincerely,

Funny? I don't share your kind of humor. I'd say that would be rather mean. And funny to whom anyway? Yourself? I doubt it'd be very fun for the person you're tricking.
Not for me. Hard enough to keep my real-life relationship(s) alive and keep up with all good friends.
Besides, clicking keys has a slightly different feel to it than kissing or hugging someone, or just shaking hands...
I just think I'm a 'look each other in the eye'-kind of guy

I used to have one on a PC game I really like. Haven't seen her in a long time though...I believe they can work, but the ones I had on the video game dissapeared. Too bad, I really liked them...
You mean I never have to actually touch or talk to the guy?! That sounds like the perfect relationship for me!
It's a week since this thread started and only now I notice that the word Relationships has been misspelled in the topic title

Well, you would still have to have the horrible experience of communicating with them.

Who with? With the one who replied to my post. (First, anyway, in case somebody tries to screw up by replying to my post later. )
Meh, if the person lives nearby and you actually have a chance of meeting them then cool... if it's strictly online... uh, whatever floats your boat. I'm not big on them because.. well... I like to be able to cuddle (among other things...) If you do it, make sure to remember that a lot of the people on the internet aren't who they say they are. They could be an old fat balding pedifile pretending to be a kid..
The point is, you shouldn't discypher it at all. You should be able to read it just as easy as the normal English sentence. As long as the first and last character of a word are in place, you can read it just fine. Tihs is bacsuee we dno't raed the iaidinvdul caahrctres but the wrod as a whloe.
I read it normally and it made no sense. I skimmed through it and it made perfect sense. (Except for "spelling" which became "sleeping" ^^)
I guess the majority of people don't read very carefully. :/

I went to the
the railwaystation.
That's one many people don't read correctly... But it's even better when positioning them in a triangle or something.
(If you think nothing is wrong with the top sentence, read it carefully again)

The sleeping one, and "pvoers" became "povers". And I thought of some obscure OS when I read "wdros", but that became clear soon enough.
The sleeping one lacks the second 'e', but has an extra 'l', but otherwise its spelling was correct. I think this is a "Meh, must be a typo"-reflex. The "povers" is closer to "pvoers" than "proves", with only two letters shuffled instead of all of them.

Wow, not that this isn't new to me, but major topic change...This place is weird...
Yeah really weird change... but about the word scramble.. you can scramble the words and no one will be able to figure it out.. the first and last letter have to be the same as in the origional word... Darn Psych class!
You have a psych class? Cool. And if it the first and last letter have to be correct in the word, then 2 and 3 letter words wouldn't be scrambled anyway.
Yes I know 2 and 3 letter words would not be scrambled... have you tried the color test? write a color out like yellow in blue ink or something (do all of the colors in a different color than what the word is) and you have to say the color of the word not the word itself.. boy that's tough! (about the psych class.. yeah after cosmetology school I'm going to go to school in the medical field.. not sure what yet.. I'm thinking a NeoNatalIntesiveCareUnit nurse or maybe a paramedic... might as well get some psychology in there haha you can never have too many degrees)
