Bannination
Evildink has been banned.
My initial decision to place him on probation only affected his username. Usually this works well enough, such as with several post-happy users in the past. Most people try to make things right.
Evildink decided to logon as an anonymous user and post a dozen or so messages full of smileys that seemed to break things a bit.
I've deleted most of the messages he posted.
He can't even view the site. If he comes back on a different IP address, that will will be banned as well.
And a note to certain people with dragonistic names: replying to every single annoying post doesn't help anything, and in fact makes things several times more worse. Seriously. In the case of true trollish behavior, ignoring the culprit is the best course of action until a moderator comes along.

When I get upset at someone's behaviour I believe in telling them. I consider not telling them dishonest, so I don't do things that way.
Yeah I came on the site this morning thinking: "Oh wow, quite a number of new posts!" Turns out that 90% of the new topics are trash. And 90% of the messages not deleted are basicly a discussion between two members, not really useful too in my opinion.
BTW, is this the first user to be banned?

Er temporarily? Technically, no. But he holds the position of the person to get baninated in the shortest amount of time, ie, anything less than a few months IIRC. Permanently? I believe so.
lol Ive not been on for the last few days, So I have no Idea who this guy was or is Can anyone tell me?
Banninating the country side,
Banninating the peasants,
Banninating all the people and then if that's through...
COTTAGES!! DINK NETWORK!!
Thank you for reading this useless post today.
You probably acted well, Redink1. I didn't notice it because it might have happened in-between the period I visited, but I'm happy to see everything clean now.

evildink posted a couple dozen new topics on Tuesday all in French.
Several people replied (such as IceDomina), and he continued to post a couple dozen new topics again on Wednesday. At this time I placed him on probation, so his evildink account could only post one message every two hours. I accompanied this with a private message telling him this, and I said that usually posting two or three new topics in a day was alright, and to please post in English so other people could answer his questions and post replies.
Thursday... well, read the post above.

Banninating the peasants
Hey, I'm a peasant... really.

Another proof that the first part of DaVince's post is useles. Should we ban him for that? Or should we ban me for suggesting?
Nah. We should ban me for doing a useless and pointless reply to you.
We should get to know good webcartoons, too.

Well, you must have LOUSY hearing, man, cause err... it goes more like BURNINATING.
Ya Think?
Anyways, this was just a joke. Nothing to get upset about.
I say we get back on topic, eh? Or, erm, close it down as people are informed now and have reacted.

From Tal:
A particular person I won't name was permanently banned from modifying their own posts due to frequently removing content for the purpose of saving their reputation and baffling other folks. (That sentence seemed too long.. oh well.)
So evildink may not have been the first person who got permanently banned... Then again, the person Tal refers to reminds me of Jamie/Morpheus/etc. But he never got permanently banned, did he?

No, I saw him in the Lurkers list a few days ago.
Well, there's a difference between being banned from even viewing the site, and being unalbe to edit posts. That's more of a privlidge being revoked...
Indeed, there has been a misinterpretation.
"was permanently banned from modifying their own posts"... not from the forum
"was permanently banned from modifying their own posts"... not from the forum
Oh, sorry. I interpreted 'from modyfing their own posts' as 'because they had edited their own posts too much'.
Additional disclosure: He came back again today, and managed to post one message before countermeasures I setup last week stopped him.
I've banned his latest IP address, and I've created additional filters to prevent 'smiley abuse'.
And I've replaced his previous smiley-filled messages with the word 'Deleted.'

Why do I have a feeling that he's not going to stop?
So apparently we are at war with the little bugger,eh?

If he continues please call his ISP and get him blacklisted.
I don't know for sure, but this might be a dinker, an ex-member of this community that wants to annoy us. Can you check again DinkKiller's IP adress? Not that I would suspect him, but just in case...
Yes, and the eaiest way to get rid or such bugs is calling their ISP's.
For some reason I don't believe dinkkiller was that good at French.
perhaps not... but a lot of that french looked like it was done with a translator...
