Download Of The Year 2012
Here it is at last - Download Of The Year 2012!
It's your chance to vote for what you think is the best file of last year.

Well, it's definitely late. But better late than never! We're finally launching DOTY of 2012!! It has been quite a year for The Dink Network. While the amount of files was low (expectedly low, I'd say), especially towards the end of the year (maybe people gave up on D-Modding cause they were waiting for the end of the world), it was still by no means a bad year for file releases. We had some wonderful, good quality D-Mods released and the non D-Mod files were very interesting as usual. However, it does affect the DOTY a little bit, because this year we only have 5 D-Mods to vote for, and 7 non D-Mod files. But that's not a biggie. Remember, last year we had MORE non D-Mod files in the DOTY, than we should have. You can't always win like that.
Of course, no prizes will be given to winners, cause we're poor bums (I think we've ran out of those DDC wallclocks, too). But the winners will get a mention in their files' description and their name will go down in Dink History!!
NOTE - NEW RULE: I think it's about time we make a new rule here. I hereby forbid voting for your own files. I know this has been allowed in the past, but seeing how things have developed in the past RRR's and DOTY's, soon we'll have everybody voting for their own files, and that's something we don't want to happen.
Anyway, make sure you check out all these wonderful files and cast your vote for both the D-Mod and non D-Mod file of 2012! YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO VOTE!!
Here are the files you can vote for:
Non D-Mod files:
Persistent Loot by Magicman
Town Portal by Pillbug
Key Codes for Dink Excel spreadsheet by Talon65442
Prelude MP3 by joshriot and scratcher
Let's Go Back... by Robj

I'll Keep Playin' Dink by Robj
D-Mods:
Trials of a Boy - Enter The Iceland by DinkDude95

1) Let's Go Back
2) Quest for Dorinthia
I'm unfortunately guilty of having not played HH2 yet still, so there's my votes.

D-Mod: Ooh, lot's of good stuff here. I think I'll have to go with Historical Hero 2.

Well, I'm gonna give my non D-Mod vote for Persistent Loot. Had a real hard time deciding between that and "Let's go back...", but in the end had to go for the file which fixes a long-time Dink annoyance.
Still have to think what D-Mod to vote for though.
And come on people! Do some voting! It's the DOTY, comes only once a year, y'know!

DMOD: Historical Hero 2, it's the kind of DMOD I really like.
For Non-DMOD, persistent loot.
For Non-DMOD, persistent loot.
non d-mod: persistant loot(no more loot dissapearing if accidentally walking of screen)
D-mod: choosing thiss was hell as soo much good stuff but Hystorical Hero 2 wins by the length of a human hair

My D-Mod vote will have to go to Dink Gets Bored. Why? Well, Dorinthia: SE seemed rather buggy, Enter The Iceland seemed pretty awesome, but not quite as awesome as DGB, and I've never played Karel ende Elegast, so there you go. Also, DGB's the first file in ages from Paul Pliska, which automatically makes it pretty awesome.
So far we have 21 votes in total. Not bad considering the community's situation, but I was hoping we'd at least get somewhere close to the 32 votes of last year.
No love for the keycodes? I love you, keycodes!
With dmods, I'll go with Quest for Dorinthia: Special Edition, for the sheer awesomeness factor of an author coming back after what, a decade? and remaking an old dmod of theirs. I haven't actually finished either QFDSE or HH2, and the rest aren't robust enough to win the DOTY in my book.
It was a pretty good year for dmods.

Keycodes and Hysterical Hobo II: Armadillo.
Also: winners will get a cool prize.

They will?
Anyway, voting ends next Monday or Tuesday (probably the night inbetween). Just thought I'd throw that out there. So be sure to use these last 5 days of voting wisely!

Non-dmod: keycodes
dmod: haven't played any of them!

28 votes so far, if I've counted right. We need only two more people to vote for both D-Mod and non D-Mod file, to reach the number of last year's votes!
Choosing a non D-Mod file to vote for is really hard, there's several good contenders... I think my vote goes to the Key Codes in the end, because that will be most useful to me.
As for the D-Mods, Dink Gets Bored was great, I don't really remember Enter the Iceland, and I haven't played any of the others... I can't really vote for DGB on that basis.
HH2 seems to be a winner based on the rave reviews it got. I should play it someday.
Anyway, I'm not voting for any D-Mod

For DMODs, I vote for Historical Hero 2, although DGB and QFD: SE were both also really good too.
I haven't really experimented with the non-DMOD files so I can't really make a vote for them.

We need two more votes to reach the amount of last year's! Come on, guys! Only a max of 24 hours to go!
My non-D-Mod vote goes to keycodes. Dunno about D-Mods.
VOTING'S CLOSED!
I'm not entirely sure if Christiaan wants to do the results post, in my stead, since he was talking about prizes and all that, which I have no knowledge of. If he's not around to do that, the results should be posted in a week or so.
