Woops sorry, but English is not my native language. What does 'cry me a river' exactly mean?

I think he misinterpreted your smiley for "WTF dude why don't you use PM I'm so offended".

Not to imply that DaVince was severely harsh with his reply, but I find it silly that he automatically assumes that diwata, the new poster, knows of the Private Message system or what "PMing" means.

"Cry me a river" is a bit difficult for me to explain.. it's basically a sarcastic remark in response to complaints or obvious signs of discontent that translates to "Stop complaining" or "You complain too much"

Also, this is a rather small message board, so it doesn't really hurt to see a post or two that really doesn't have any content except for personal messages.

Besides, some of us are nosy and like reading other people's conversations.Weehee.

I prefer to think of 'Cry me a river' as that truly awful song that someone sang a few years back. It could be considered a form of torture to make someone sing it.

Hi to you, Davince. I do know what PM means. It's the icons and what they convey that I'm not so sure of...except for the smiley, of course. Are there icon legends somewhere where I can use for reference?

Cry me a river was original sung by Aretha Franklin (I'm not sure) decades ago. She is one of the best Afro-American blues singer - with a velvety voice. Though, I don't care so much for the song. Cry me river is a literary hyperbole. And is often used as an idiomatic expression for sarcasm.

And carrie2004 hit it on the head, I don't want PMing unless it's really a secret Secret. Makes for more topics of discussion when a community knows more or less what each one is thinking. The network gets more personal that way.

And yes, Chrispy, if you felt tortured when you hear that song, then it is conveying its message...you are meant to feel tortured when you sing it...*lol*

Tal, it was really my intention not to PM Glennglenn. A private message would be too presumptuous and may misinterpreted for something other than the intention.

And Christiaan is right, it really helps the Board (the Off Topic) to read more personal repartee between members. For example, it perked my interest when I read Tal's message (somewheres) to metatarsal - my thoughts: is there a friendly rivalry between these too? The scorching comments on the DMOD The Scourger was too scorching that it smacks of a certain fondness/closeness between the two. I may be wrong...but as carrie2004 said, we're nosy...that's why we like many "secrets" in our games.

I really do hope every message I've ever got on PM never makes the off-topic section. 50% consists of "Why aren't you on MSN?", or "Come on MSN."

If you're referring to my news post about the most recent Scourger update, the 'scorching' comments I made regarding The Scourger were part of an attempt to make the post... silly I actually haven't played the D-Mod yet.

Besides lots of people make themselves look like an ass at some point on the boards Had you not responded to their postings, someone else probably would have with a similar remark. PMing is so common nowdays that it is the typical method for exchanging such talk... but if people want to use the board for this, its all good to me.

Yes, that's true, dragon. Davince need not worry about being an ass. He just wants it organized the way it is. I'd rather be an ass than a hard-headed mule. As my son used to say, "it's ok to stuff your mouth with your foot as long as your foot is clean! So i'll know what my foot taste like! " *lol*

And Tal wasn't harsh, it's just his style. And as for magicman, I reserve PMing for receiving or sending saved files, if in case I get stuck in some DMOD level or something. As for chatting using MSN or YM, I like looking into conversations (nosy still) but really, I don't have the time to sit down and chat...just the time to play DMODs and look into hints on where the players are in the game.

The Off-Topic Board is perfect for checking out the members' responses on some trivial (or important) issues - giving us a peek into our different personalities. Makes it less impersonal, and keep us glued to the Board (when we're not playing or making DMODs, that is).

This one was covered by Ella Fitzgerald, I am unsure if Aretha Franklin covered it. Aerosmith also covered this one.

About the torture when singing it, are you considering the Lyric or Chrispy's singing ability?

I find the melody and the lyrics excruciating...no matter who sings it...it will certainly make one's hackles go up if sung by a graveyard voice like mine...good for making scary DMODs...

On the rules page is info about how you can make things bold, italic or make links.

And it isn't neccesary for Tal to make a DMOD to have friendly rivalry, but it would help.

A Tal D-Mod may come sooner than you think. 2019 sounds like a good year, right?

Justin Timberlakes song has completely different lyrics than the one written by Arthur Hamilton. I have not heard it and I imagine the music is completely different as well.

Uh, I can pretty much assure that what you have lined out will never happen. And that in itself is almost enough to make me fall to my knees and discover faith.

Being Canadian, I definitely prefer it. It's hard to beat a continued success like Brian Adams and all of the bands he has developed/supported over the years.

However, as a musician I cannot afford to narrow myself to excluding the plethora of talent around the Globe.

AC/DC, U2, and the many generations of the British Invasion, have all helped to shape my talent.
