One Year Here
I know noone cares, but I just figured that it is my one year anniversary here. Or close to it anyway. Man that year went by quickly.
Nice!
According to my profile, this is my 4th anniversary, freaky

I don't even have half a year since I'm here.
Hmm... I've been around here a while... I think maybe since sometime in early '99. I can't totally remember, I just know I arrived at around the same time as Tal.
My arrival was a bit before my first release, so I'm slightly longer than 3 years here. I've been lurking since 2000, though, as I remember trying to script some DinkC during some dull New Year's evening show and finding a tutorial on "that blue-ish site with the floor tiles as menu"
Six years here. Possibly the definitive post-freeware old-timer.
Far from it myself. As I said one year. Not exactly a significant milestone but a milestone nonetheless. And I've not done much here due to two forced long breaks from the internet fullstop.
I've been on this site since 2001 I think, but I got an account in 2002 or somethin so I guess this is my 3 or 4 years lol
Seven years and three months for me.
Man, that's a long. Makes mine look like a couple of months in comparision.
I've been here for... what? 3 weeks?
EDIT: Oh, now I remember, it was around june 2001 when I decided to pollute the network with my hideous creations.
3.5 years for me then.

I've got my account for seven months now, but I've been lurking since somewhere in 2002 I think. Atleast I tried my hand at DMODing for the first time in 2002.
Oh, the memories.
Oh, the memories.
its been about half a year sinse i last posted here. ahh how times gne by
btw Iam Back!

I, too, was here a few months before getting my account, but I'm counting from the creation of my account.
My whole history with Dink was "I first got the demo in 1997 when it was created and I still have the demo , but its more newer than I had in 1997. and I got the game as freeware with a computer magazine Named Cmmputers For all(a norwegian computer magazine) and then I found this site in 2000, but I had still been on Mike Snyders Smallweb. Or was Dink Smallweb Redink1's site?
And the first D-Mod I played was Quest For Arithia: The rozarus. then I created an account here in somewhere in 2002 and started posting in 2003

I got here right at the end of the anon wars, if any of you remember that skirmish. Something like, 6 years if I'm not mistaken? Maybe Someone could verify...
dang, it's been a while.
dang, it's been a while.
Must be about 6 or so, years for me. Can't recall when I registared, just remembered my first dmod, and getting stuck and writing to "Dukie" for help.
Heh... I think my first post, I was asking something about why the orange and purple hardness does the same thing.
Looking back at the old E-mail archives... It's horrible, absolutly horrible. 'macking' a d-mod. Outragous claims. 'tink'ing. Oh, I had no shame. Wait. I still don't have any shame, that's why I'm posting this. Good to be sure.

Where did Dukie disappear, anyway?
I was something like 13-14 when I came round... so that'd be 5-6 years back. Ah memories.. although I do wish I had skipped releasing most of those D-Mods, they are/were pretty much crap - and I had so much better ones coming on. dang school for interrupting the creative process

I got the game from the CD of a New Zealand magazine called NetGuide. That was about a year and a half ago. As I said I lurked here without signing up for a while. It was a couple of months until I came here though.
Now the "anon wars" is one of those events in DN history I've heard so much about, but haven't been able to track back through archives/articles/side-remarks. I wasn't around during the "death of Jveenhof", nor during the "Dethlord scandal", but they are pretty accurately addressed in some old Recondites.
So, these anon wars... what were they about? Huge flame war with everyone posting anonymously?

Basically, yeah. They weren't on The Dink Network, though, they were at WC's rival site Dink World. I think that was around the beginning of 2000...
Tal will probably shine some more light on it, as I think he was one of those involved.

I remember putting something in "Dink Goes Boating" about the Anon wars... you had to talk to the WC sprite up in the top tower... maybe after killing off Kory, I can't remember.
Oh and I made my first appearance either right at the end of 1999 or at the start of 2000, with Isle of Croth being released in 2000.

You know, I've always meant to ask you, have you ever had an irrate parent e-mailing you saying that you shattered their child's innocence?

My memories of it are pretty vague... basically, a "bunch" of anonymous "people" (I think it was only one guy really, maybe two at best) started posting pretty nasty comments at Dink World and provoking the ire of a few folks, my 12-yr.-old crybaby self included. Much flaming and harassing ensued, accounts were taken over, anger overwhelmed me, etc. I don't remember why they finally gave up, but I know that WC was friends with - or at least familiar with - one of the Anons, some Merlock fellow who actually only lives about an hour away from me. So it may have been a WC plan to play around with my mind gone horribly crazy, since he used to pick on me quite a bit. I was never entirely sure.
Lurking since 2000... Probably an actual member since...2002? sounds bout right. But its not the time spent its the impact you leave. And I have left one huge disorriented impact after another
I've been playing Dink for a number of years, but this is the first time I got involved with the forum.
I am learning a lot about scripting in general and how to get along with people around the world. Is there anybody here from Sweden?
My boy's are now avid Dinkers so perhaps there is hope.
mm.

I haven't really has much of an impact really. I've released two files but since they aren't popular they have had little effect. Dink.ini Rewrite has a rating of 5.2 (very poor) and Treasury has a rating of 7.3 (okay). I hope the three projects I am currently working on do better (Treasury 2 (which is a massive improvement over 1.1), Bestiary (a set of monster scripts) and Spellbokk (spell scripts obviously)).
I'm from sweden!!
tur att nån svensk finns med i forumet nu!
i've been with on this forum rather long, not as an real poster, but i have been lurking around since 2001...

I've been here for over a year now, because DraconicDink came here a short while after I came, if I remember correctly.
Hooray!
Hooray!
Hmmm... in february 2000 I was a n00b in computers. So n00b that I couldn't install the games from the "PC Magazine" I just bought. After a wile I installed some games, including Dink. Again my n00b-ness didn't let me leave stonebrock, because I didn't thought about finding Ethel's duck. In 2002, I started to play Dink, and I reached Terris. For about half a year, I played constantly, killing the boncas from the mine, searching a sollution to get to the next town, but didn't find the guy from the mines. Although I didn't find that guy, I wasn't blind, and I found a hardness error that let me reach the forest with the DDC and continue the game. In summer 2004, I connected my computer to the Internet, and in may 2005 I started downloading DMODS. The first DMOD I downloaded was 9 Gems of life, and the first DMOD I actually finished was Cycles of Evil.
I registered in 15 june 2005, when I released my crappy DMOD, "Dink vs. Milder".
Currently I'm working on a "Dink vs. Milder 2", which is not so crappy and will probably be released next year.
This was my DN history. Please don't laugh. Thanks.
