I just bought a lot of ram today, I know my mobo supports them. I checked them, they work. But when I added them. Win xp doesnt start. I bought 1024mb today and added them for a grand total of 2048mb of ram But now win xp doesnt start Should I format the hd or change some settings in the bios. I know that somebody here has some brains

If the computer started, then it should work.. I'd suggest a complete reformat and reinstall, it always does the trick!

Let me guess, you get that nice blue screen of death don't you? All you need to do is reinstall the OS on top of the old one, and it will work fine. XP seems not to like when you change hardware. Also, if you bought DDR memory, make sure that it's in the spped range (if you bought PC2700, it might not be supported if you have a older MotherBoard).

All I bought was:

1024mb pc 2100 ddr-sdram

with a dutch manual, DUH

No, I dont get the blue screen of death. I dont get a loop error. It just doesnt start, it hangs, I just let my computer on for 1 hour, and win xp was still "loading" you get the idea. A clean format is what I need... Mmm, I had graphical problems when I placed that old s3trio videocard too... Maybe a fresh install is a good idea.

You shouldn't need a clean start. just reinstall XP, it's because the os is still probably seeing your old amount of memory.
