Don't let the Dink Network die
I noticed a new D-Mod has been released - Hide-n-Seek but there is no news article posted that this D-Mod is available.
I know DinkDude95 has submitted a file over a week ago but it still isn't available.
The poll hasn't been changed in, what, half a year?
There hasn't been any reviews or any features added recently or any productivity for that matter.
I understood that Redink1 was very busy with all kinds of stuff, that's why he left. Redink1 has done so many things for this community, it's unbelievable, so I completely understand he moved on to other things.
I just hoped that with the new staff and all, things would live up a bit, but I'm afraid the opposite is happening.
In conclusion, I'm not trying to be a pest but if the staff isn't doing anything to keep this site alive, it might as well be shut down.

I agree with Christiaan. Tal, you're supposed to be king! Act like one!
/Here comes the guillotine!

Er... I'd say, are you new here, but your obviously not. Having d-mods in the queue for a month or so isn't unusual.
I know, it's just that the forums are as good as dead, there may be less than 15 active posters left, and nothing is happening.
I worries me a little.
I worries me a little.
RTSoft also hasn't made Dink Smallwood 2 and that game Seth's working on using his Novashell engine isn't finished yet.. so there's no logical choice for a new game we can switch to either.
Considering that this file just went up not long ago as far as I can figure, not having a news post about it right away is not unusual. I don't think the d-mod community is dead. As long as there are good modders still developing things, then it will continue to live on. So far there are a couple who I think could do good jobs who are working on things.
I do agree that Novashell needs to come up with an actual game so that the rest of us have graphics and source code scripts to work with.
Still, I will try to write something up this weekend if Tal doesn't first.

I agree with Christiaan too. But I don't think TDN should be shut down, though. But if the staff couldn't care less, what's happening here, they might as well leave, and give their place to someone else.
Such as... someone who just wrote this post... Mwhahahhaaa! (Just kidding).

I'm still around, I'm not dead and I'm making an interesting D-Mod meant for 2 players to fight eachother. I won't let The Dink Network die and I hope my contribution (witch will show up this month or the next) will help to keep this site's heart beating loud as ever.
It's been ten years since the game was released. I think the life of this game has been extended dramatically thanks to redink 1 who was committed to this website for so many years.
Laziness on the part of staff members or to be fair to them lack of time(seriously guys people have better things to do) has always been the case. But the number of D-mod makers has gone down, people no longer review D-mods with enthusiasm any more.
So IMO we need a new graphics engine and develop a Dink Smallwood 2 with that. That's the only way to revive the game. I know it's easier said than done and many people have tried and failed. But we can surely attempt to take up projects such as Windermere and try to complete it. Developing a game is a colossal amount of work and requires great programming knowledge and experience though....... I just have started to learn about programming one month back and hope to learn quite a lot in six months or so. I'll give it my best shot once I have enough knowledge. Easier said than done though........

I agree that Tal should move his lazy ass sometimes.
I did start making a new game but I zipped it and put it aside for now. As for 'active posters', just because some of us don't post as much doesn't mean we're not still visiting the site. A lot of time I don't even log in when I'm here.
As for the poll, it hasn't been up there that long and it's not like this site is all about the poll anyways.
And the king? I dunno, maybe he's out trying to woo girls or something? But it hasn't been forever since he last posted something. Some people around here are just impatient.
If you're 'really' that worried, make a new dmod.

I can't say I've noticed the site being any slower recently than normal. Just last week or so it was buzzing because of that thread you started listing all D-Mods in production, and that in itself proves the site is still alive because there are quite a few D-Mods in that list - some of them looking very good
News, file approval, and poll updates have been moaned about ever since I came here (wow, is it that long??) and I imagine before then as well so that's nothing new. Anyway the staff isn't new, it's the same as it was but with one missing so it's bound to be a little slower. Time for Sabre to wake up I think
As for reviews, I believe there used to be some kind of ranking system based on posting and review writing? Maybe if that was brought back in some form more would be written because as of now the only incentive is boredom

Thanks for the updates Striker. See this topic was useful?
I may have exaggerated a little, but I kind of felt like people were leaving because of lack of new content.
But yeah, when I think about it, this time happens yearly. Wait until the annual summer n00b influx... ( )

You ain't got a change... not a change in hell!!
I want to see Sabre kick your something that TDN's forum would turn into arse. Mwhahahahaaa!!

Well, seeing as they're both British, I'm sure it's just a short walk from Sabre's to Sparrow's house. Unless, of course, Sparrow is from Northern Ireland, in which case a short swim would also be involved.
I also think something should be done to the Staff page. As in, remove some of the users who don't do a dang thing anymore, make it accessible from the main page, put Tal at the top, and put DinkDude95 somewhere in the middle, at least.
It will probably remain as it is, though yeah, maybe I should be shifted a bit Yes, half those people don't actually do anything in regards to the website, but if nothing else I feel that their status is a commendation of sorts for their previous involvement in the community.
I will have to politely decline your bid as a staff member...

At least you're here...
Presence is half the battle!

Why politely? It's only half the fun this way...
Prescience is the other.
Hmmph! Copycat. Steal my topic, will you?!

What we need to do is go into other forums and spread dink awareness.
not trying to be so negative but it seems many of my attempts of making something fun to participate in ended up not being very successful. the one screen dmod had what 4 screens to it. how hard is it to make 1 freaking screen on a map put some monsters on it boom there you go a 1 screen dmod. sometimes its just like whats even the point. do people even care, if you do, why not try to organize something yourself if you want to see something done and i will support you 100%
interesting. i love dink and i know others do too. as long as a few of us exist i highly doubt it will die. i imagine there is plenty out there like me. that up until recently only downloaded dmods and played them and did not get involved with the site. is there anyway to show site overall traffic? just curious to see how many people overall still dink.
hmmmm....i'm sorry to say this but i may be the only dinkfan from Bulgaria(along with Anubis).I will try to get some friends hooked on Dink Smallwood but i don't think that i will have much luck
I am from Hawaii. Is there anyone else on here from Hawaii out of curiosity?
"Don't let the Dink Network die"
I'll be sure this thread and the network doesn't die like a pile of frogs from a disectomy laboratory by rehashing this thread.
***Chucks boisenberry pies at everyone reading this thread***
Just my little way of helping.

R.I.P. Dink Network
THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT!
THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT!
Yup, let's just keep reviving this thread and make sure that the network ain't gonna dies.
Hey,listen!I just registered in a Jedi Academy server. It is called the necserver. The site of the necserver is pretty cool but there are only about 50 members.I made there a special topic in the forum for Dink Smallwood.I asked them to join the DinkNetwork if they want some real fun in their lives .They got interested about it.They even gave me some ideas for the DinkNetwork. The DinkNetwork might have some new members!
I didn't realize "The Dink Network" was sick....perhaps, a fresh banana would help?
Nah, we're okay. But you can borrow mine if you like.
Hey, it could be worse.
But that reminds me... Is there a Banana Tree image anywhere I can use for my D-mod..? =D

I new member came from the necserver! His name is avarice.
I don't want this site to die either! I only found it a month ago. One question though, when I tried to view the staff page, part of what was written there was blocked by the poll on the right side of the screen. Is there a way that I could see all of the staff page? Just looking for more insight into the psychies of the powers that be.
Hmm, maybe I should just use a Jedi mind trick?

Well, (I'm a late comer 'ere), I jus joined TDN last week, after about 2 yrs of usin the site. I still think Dink Smallwood = the best free rpg around, and recomend it regularly to as many other rpg lovers as possible.
I pray that Dink lives on for many moons.

Well, they are all technically genetic clones.

I have to agree it has slowed down a great deal. You guys can't deny that, way back before PQ there was at least more than one new thread a week posted...
