History was my last paper of the End term examinations of the year on Saturday. There was a question of Ten marks about Joan of Arc and the hundred years of war and we had to mark the significant locations where the famous battles took place. French history wasn't even in our syllabus or textbook and none of the students had a clue on what to do! All the students were quite nervous after coming the examination room as loosing ten marks straight forward was a big deal.

I was the only one in my whole batch of 180 students who was able to answer that question correctly, others had just gone and written rubbish. And that was thanks to that I was an Age of Empires fan and I had played that Joan of Arc campaign in Age of Empires II- The Conquerors. I had played it twice or thrice and exactly new what had happened and where thanks to the that mini map int the game. I had marked all the places according to what I had seen in the game. I knew that these cities were located actually on their real geographical position

And today, I got to know that I had topped in the examinations in the whole batch thanks to my History paper. I had got 94 marks while the second highest were 69 or 68(I don't remember exactly).
I usually ended up being fourth or fifth every year but thanks to AOE I will be recieving a trophy and a certificate this Saturday.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
At elementary school, I managed to get a question right about the Taj Mahal because I read about it in the Donald Duck (a weekly magazine with cartoons)

I object
I can remember similar things too. Like being able to answer questions like "Who where the king and queen of Spain at the time Columbus discovered America?" because I had played a certain computer game. (Has anybody else tried 'europa universalis'?)

Funny, this: AOE uses or copies reality in order to be a good game; now reality (Dinkme: you're a real person, aren't you? lol ) uses the game to get good (real) grades.

Of course I am.
Though most of the games are based on fiction. But a lot of them also are based on real events or stories. For example games like Delta Force and Commanche are based on USA' crack teams.
Many of Microsoft's strategy games like Rise of Nations and Age of Mythology are also like AOE. Its pretty famous game for multiplayer as well.

But pity that I won't be able to get to play a lot more just because I got good grades in the exams one.
By the way dinkateur, you and I have the same icon, maybe a coincidence.

Most games are based on fiction: correct. But my point was, that although some games are based on reality, they themselves are, in fact, fiction.

Now I am confused. Which are the non-fiction games then?
If you are playing a game in which World War going on, there isn't actually a World war happening in the real world.
