Robj is an idiot
Hi people. So recently my computer decided to die. Randomly overheated and restarted and got some "missing bootmgr" error.
Ok cool, probably the operating system i thought. But no. The hard drive died.
I havent backed my dmod up for quite some time, and that pc also contains all the LP parts that havent been released yet, all my pre-edited DSPT intros and templates for my videos and even all my video related content for my other channel on youtube.
Im an idiot, i should have done back ups. Im sending my hard drive away to a business that specialises in recovering data from dead hard drives, its gonna cost me a lot and they may not even be succesful but its worth a try.
That is all. Im quite pissed off right now.

Damn.
Happened to me not that long ago, except the HD I lost didn't have nearly as much work on it.
It sucks.

Oh man. Holy crap. That's awful. I'm sorry.
I hope you have luck with the data recovery.

Really sorry to hear that. Unfortunately sometimes someone has to crash a harddrive to remind all of us to make backups...
If the drive isn't completely dead (ie, not spinning) it may be worth buying a usb adaptor. Try plugging it in like that and see if you can recover anything.
This happened recently on a work computer, it wouldn't boot but we managed to recover all files.

Nooooooooooo! Not another hard drive casualty!
I really hope those guys can get your data back.

I hope that too. :-\
Robj, once you have a working computer again, one option you could look at is automatic online backups with something like Jungle Disk or Carbonite. Or if you don't like other people having your data, you could try CrashPlan.

Dinkulum, are there any Cloud storage services that aren't shady as duck?
Hard drive is not even spinning.. thus proffessional data recovery is my only option. I know it sounds lame as duck, and i dont care about the current DN trolls that may possibly comment on the following, but even though im busy with work, i am spending more time on my dmod than usual, trying to bring it back up to where it was because i sincerely doubt my data will be recovered and its so ducking upsetting that i've lost so much time worth of dink related content(talking about dmod[S!], videos, and i will say here, that includes some video projects with some DN users you would be surprised to see), and to let you know, in case i cant recover them, i actually had three dmods on the go, aside from the dark avilan, one of which was almost complete(there are certain DN users who have seen and can confirm this), and now they may never see the light of day.
Anyway, i still have one joint dmod project with another DN user going through dropbox, which is saved... so to take my mind away from the lost data and time, i'll start working on that more.
TL R: Duck you, you're not worth the time i've lost.

sorry, I don't know much to make a remark. But if you don't want your work out in the cloud, you can buy an external hard drive and back up right at your desk. I guess you know that.
Of course, it is now after the fact. Sorry. Grace

"Hope you didn't send it to these guys."
Lol.. I should hear back in a couple of days if it is recoverable or not. Also, the good thing is - No success, no charge.

Success. Success. FCKN SUCCESS
On a side note, I'm gonna go and scratch my nipple now.
It's slightly itchy.

Hurrah! Congrats!
Now immediately go make 30 ducking backups of everything you have on your computer! After scratching your nipple, of course.

Horrifying hard drive crash trauma and permanent mental scarring averted! Woo!
And yes, go make backups now. I'd even suggest making backdowns, frontups, and frontdowns.

Hooray!
I hope you gave that nipple a good scratching.
You deserve it.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Oh, and I meant to say that with CrashPlan, you're not uploading your backups to their servers necessarily. You can put one of your own computers in another location, like a friend's house (in case your house burns down), and you use the CrashPlan software to send backups to it over the Internet.
