Adventure Time (TV Show)
Have you watched it/heard of it? What do you think of it?
I absolutely love that show. I like it because it isn't very mainstream compared to other shows, it actually is funny AND has a good plot. My favourite characters are the Ice King and Marceline.

I actually do like the show, but more for the subtle story that is told over the quirky weirdness that happens. (I know it's probably foregone conclusion by now, but did you know that the show takes place after a nuclear [or similar] holocaust?)
Haven't watched it. But have heard a lot of good stuff about it. Also heard Gravity Falls is a rather good show, but haven't checked that out either. Maybe I will one day. Just wish we could get American TV here. It would be much easier to track shows down and not always have to resort to Internet.
I watched some episodes, just to stay on the loop, dont'cha know. (Uhh...) I even watched an episode of My Little Pony once!
Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool. They definitely have a fresh style, compared to most other cartoon shows.

Yeah, the great Mushroom war. You should see the climax, though. It's a BIG surprise.

Adventure Time is a badass show, it really cracks me up.

It's a good show for sure (and so is gravity falls that somebody mentioned earlier)...
But I can't stand My little pony.. >-<

I remember the last time I mentioned MLP here. Was that the reason, or was there another source of general interest to get you to watch it?
Also, it's awesome, and haters gonna hate.

Please do not delve into the grand old mind duck that is MLP. I have watched a few episodes (Said to be the best episodes) and I utterly disliked it. I would like it if all MLP related stuff stay out of this topic please. If you want to discuss it, please let it be in another topic.
Anyway, AT is one of the better shows I've seen thus far.

I've never heard of this show, is it American, I am in England.
I don't know if there's been any good Japanese animes lately, cause I don't actually follow those, but MLP is pretty much the best animated show at least to come out of U.S. in a long ass time! Replace the characters with male monkeys, and name it something else, and suddenly nobody would have a problem with the show or its giant fanbase. You sexist duckers!
I don't really like the fact that a person who believes he's a werewolf, runs around constantly screaming about how he's a part of the Therian community, and even has that written on his tagline on a completely non-related website, goes around calling a television show and its fanbase a mind duck, and tries to tell others what to like and discuss about.

I know from extensive experience that when a group of people who like MLP hear mention of the show on a forum, especially on a topic that is it briefly mentioned, that the whole topic turns into a huge discussion on who is a better character or why they think 'x' shouldn't have happened or that 'x' should have happened.
Now, while I don't care for the show, I don't tell people what to watch and what not to watch. I thought the show isn't good, and I mentioned that, and I also requested politely that if you all want to talk about MLP that you do it in another topic so this one doesn't go utterly off topic.
(On another note, I don't believe I'm a werewolf. I believe that I have a connection spiritually to dire wolves as a species. I only told the forum about it because I have trust for you guys [Though, some people proved to not deserve that trust]. Therianthropy is a very confusing and difficult subject, and with what little I've told everyone I'm not surprised you got that impression. I have not regaled everyone with every bit of information about it because if they want to know, they can just ask.)
Now, I know someone out in the world will dislike me for saying this, but I freakin' love Bleach, and Wolf's Rain, and FLCL, and a lot of other shows.

KrisKnox, you may have doomed this topic to turn into a huge discussion on My Little pony. It's reverse psychology. (plus I'm not helping either)
I remember the last time I mentioned MLP here. Was that the reason, or was there another source of general interest to get you to watch it?
Just general interest on my part. You can't go 5 pages on the internet without running into either an image macro from MLP, or something about bronies.
It's not my cup of rainbow magic, but I could see the appeal of the show.

That tells me something about the kind of websites you visit... I didn't even know that there was a my little pony TV show. I only knew about the dolls.

Aherm!
KrisKnox, I think you may have given yourself better credit in my eyes, if you said you were a werewolf, instead of that you have a special spiritual connection to them. Anyway, I'm not gonna judge you as a person because of your lifestyle. I don't even know who you are.
Let me reveal you something. I've been a part of the MLP fandom since, well, last summer if I strecth it (yeah, I know! I'm part of a huge fandom based around a show mainly directed at young girls. Aah! Shoot me!). For once, I haven't mentioned anything about the fandom, nor the show here. Heck, I probably wouldn't be writing this, if you hadn't said anything, and I would also definitely not be talking about which is best pony . Now, I know there are some other MLP fans on this site, and curiously enough, none of them started this conversation (unless Scratcher is also a fan, which I highly doubt ). Anyway, finally to my point: I find it extremely thoughtless, ironic and judgmental, that you go around the site constantly mentioning something about the Therian community and babbling on about it, yet you tell people to shut up about MLP, when others have BARELY mentioned it.
Also, I don't have a problem with people who don't like the show, nor if they say they don't (although I don't see the point in even saying that, if that's all you're gonna say), but when it gets to the "Other people need to shut about about it, because I don't like it!" and the "I hate this show because it's girly and fabulous" -territory, that does slightly annoy me. In fact, it annoys me just as much as if someone said "You play an old independent RPG game with dated graphics, where you punch ducks' heads off and feed pigs? Dude, shut up about it! That's totally fabulous and stupid".
EDIT: Gotta love our fabulous swear filter!

Each to their own. *sigh*
Personal comment:
I'm not an MPL fan, I watched the first 2 episodes as a test. While I generally am on the negative side in terms of it's mention, I won't tell you lot to shut up about it more than once. You've posted, leave your posts alone, but stop and categorize your discussions to another thread for the sanity of us non-careres and those haters. MLP threads that I've run across do tend to be filled with nothing but love/hate posts, and this site is not 4chan. We do not have a My Little Dinky Dmod available where Dink gets turned into a Pony and has to find the magical rainbow cure spell to return to normal while being chased by a mob of halberd-wielding extinctionists through Appleloosa or whatever.
Oh look, you made me google. Have a Dmod idea.
That whole Therian thing? IDGAS. Never heard of the thing but it doesn't sound interesting to me.
It's a biased opinion, but thats just me. I'll be leaving this thread alone now.

I do plan to leave the subject alone on this site. For reasons ExD mentioned as well as for the fact that I have no wishes to discuss about it outside of its own community. I only said anything in the first place, because I felt it was extremely unfair how KrisKnox told everybody to shut up about it, when Scratcher just made a slight mention about it, and Kris himself's been running around, constantly yelling out about his Therian stuff. I also felt the show would get an unfair bashing, and I don't think I could consider myself a part of its fandom if I just let that happen in front of my eyes.
But yeah, as far as I'm concerned, the subject of MLP is zip.

OMG, don't bring MLP into discussion, shootstorm <- haha becomes fact.
Anyway, MLP stands out among other cartoons of this era. The animation is splendid, voice acting splendid, story splendid. If you are like me (loves a great cartoon) and hasn't followed one for a long time, you don't care what audience the show is aimed towards. This is what happens today, lot's of shootty shows mixed with poor students that lack talent (original movies, zack and cody etc.), a few gems like MLP and Adventure Time gets all the fame and hype.
Kris, with your furry background, I can't see why you won't dig MLP.
EDIT: Aw, shoot.

Haven't seen it yet myself, but for a show to garner such fandom, it must have some merit All I've heard from it are some songs once and they were actually fine to be honest.
Two things, I'm not a furry, and I do not choose to be one.
Second, I never told people to stop speaking about MLP, I only asked that they take it into another topic. There's a difference.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Telling others to shut up or take the discussion elsewhere, is pretty much the same thing in this type of a thread. What's the point in making a new thread for the topic? You can just as well stay away from the discussion in this thread, as you can in another. I don't recall anyone forcing you to participate in an MLP conversation, in this thread. I doubt you could keep your paws off it (max pun intended), in another.
If you want to talk more about Adventure Time, or anything else, in this thread, I don't see anyone stopping you.

As I said before, personal experience dictates that whenever it comes up, that the discussion derails utterly and everything loses meaning.
Now, who likes Tower of God?
Now, who likes Tower of God?
I know exactly what you're implying, KrisKnox. People hate on others who dig the show. The more mature (18+) of fans are often referred to as bronies or pegasisters. These bronies often get picked on by haters all over the internet because they like a cartoon aimed at young girls. And yes, you may call me a brony.
However, in a small community like this where we're all kinda like family, it won't break out or derail and people here aren't your typical hater. Except me.
Sadly, I've never heard of Tower of God. Korean manga? Now that's something new.

Manhwa isn't exactly 'new', I only just found ToG and I freakin' enjoy it. Takes forever for it to upload and get translated. (This is what I'm talking about.
I was going off on what I've experienced, and knowing a few people here (*cough* Skorn *cough*) it could easily get derailed into that.

"We do not have a My Little Dinky Dmod available where Dink gets turned into a Pony"
I have stated I have secret projects I've been working on, and while a D-Mod is not on this list, I've been thinking about a comic with a plot like that. The main problem is the dislike of the show here and the lack of knowledge of Dink everywhere else.
As for the "I watched a couple of episodes and it's not my thing", I am glad you gave it a go. So many people I know just form an opinion about it and then stick to it. One of my best friends spent a year hating it with a passion, and I kept just telling him to give it a go. One day he sent me a chat message that said "I'm bored, try to convince me to watch the show again." to which I replied "If you're bored, why not just watch it?" He posted back an hour later saying he was sorry for the last year or so of opposition he had given me. He's now more of a brony than I am.

I'd never heard of Adventure Time, but I can watch it on Netflix. I've added it to my queue.

How have you never heard of Adventure Time? It's the most popular cartoon on T.v.
It's pretty good. I got hooked when I watched an episode where a character that had been the focus of the whole episode exploded and it abruptly ended. I love the dark twists that they were willing to do with a kids show.
My favorite character is definitely LSP. I love how completely ridiculous she is.

Adventure Time is the best. It's so rad. It's very funny, and stylish, and respects the viewer's intelligence while simultaneously being silly as Hell.
"I floop the pig!"
"I floop the pig!"
I've merely heard of the thing, never watched an episode.
You know what to do then.
Haven't watched it. Cartoons aren't my thing.
I don't know if there's been any good Japanese animes lately
Skull, have you heard about Attack on Titan?

That's a good one too. Great story and great characters. But what pissed me off was the amount of fillers in the first half of the series. But if you don't count those in, it's a show worth watching

I'm not sure I understand Adventure Time's popularity. It doesn't look bad, but not that good either. Though I've never actually sat down and watched an entire episode, so in that regard I can't really say anything.
Skull, have you heard about Attack on Titan?
Yeah. There was a point when my friend was talking about it all the time. I think he watched the entire first season in like one sitting. Haven't watched it myself, though.

I'm just waiting for the 2nd season.

I may check out Attack on Titan when the whole show has been released in English. For the most part I don't like watching part of a show and having to wait for the rest.
As for Adventure Time I haven't given it a totally fair chance but it didn't interest me much from the little I saw. Though I also saw only a little of Cowboy Bebop at one point and found myself uninterested, only for it to become one of favorites when I actually gave it a fair chance.
By the way, the writer of Invader Zim and creator of Adventure Time came together and made this episode of Bravest Warriors, which I think is hilarious, despite being the only episode of Bravest Warriors I've ever seen:

I think one of the things keeping Adventure Time well watched is all of the really subtle aspects of it. At face value, it's the story of a boy and his dog having adventures. But, as you get deeper, it's the story of the world after a nuclear(?) apocalypse.

Horrible, that people should be talking about something other than Dink on the Dink Network...? Or do you just despise Adventure Time? Or is something else I'm missing? We don't have enough new Dink topics to keep people revisiting regularly, so I feel that topics like this are almost necessary, and I certainly enjoy getting to know other Dinkers better even if it's only a little bit. I can't understand why you would hate that. We are people before we are DMOD developers and players.

Plus, discussing other forms of media can inspire others to take a concept and play with it in a way never done before.
Yeah, what's the deal with people discussing Off-topic stuff in Off-topic?
Wait, is it possible to get so off topic we get on topic.
For once, a really insightful question.
Yes, it is entirely possible.
