MMORPG Dink Feature Specifications
As some of you may know, I have been writting a Dink based MMORPG from scratch. It shares the graphics and some of the lore, but there will be no scripting engine or anything like the original Dink.

YAAAAAAYYYYY!!
Great!I can play another new DMOD!
Hpoe it would be a good one.
Hpoe it would be a good one.
If this is an MMORPG, will there be killing of other online players, and not just monsters?
If so, I was thinking that maybe you could create some sort of an 'arena' where you can fight all sorts of different battle options. Things like huge team wars, where two teams of players go up against each other in a massive battle, or something like 'Monster Mayhem', where the monsters you fight get increasingly harder each 'wave'. Or maybe one-on-one battles.

The original plan was just a small app that you could enter in someones IP address and you would have a one on one battle, but it is obviously something much bigger now. Yes, there will be arena battles (One on one, team battles, and capture the flag just to name the ones I have thought of yet)
I'm actually wondering how many wandering monsters to put in.

Fireball5, please, don't get our hopes up and then disappoint us!
Don't worry, I'm still working on this, I planned it a month ago, and I'm actually getting some good progress done on this. Some good code has been written, not too many bugs at the moment (not really much to be buggy anyway) but this won't be released anytime soon.
Could this be your gift for us all next christmas maybe?
Maybe... You can all just give me your thoughts and ideas then let this sink to the bottom of the board and forget it ever happened, 'k?
Nah, I'll keep the project alive and in your thoughts throughout the first year of the new decade, I'll post up a preview thread when it's ready, and my website will host screenies and other information here over the coming weeks.

How about start slow, make a chat room, and have chat connection while playing single player, then add extra features as you go. That way you know one thing works, the rest can fall into place easily.
The plan:
1) Make a working chatroom
2) Develop storyline
3) Add in basic playability (Probably only the ability to walk around a blank white screen as a randomly coloured box)
4) Add in parts of the map
5) Program in more playability (You now control a pointy box that can rotate and move around the map)
6) Work on the zoning of the map
7) Create a city
8) Add enhanced playability (You now control Dink, and can move him around most of the map)
9) Add interactivity
10) Add monsters
11) Add arenas and fighting
12) Release for beta testing
13) Fix all the bugs
14) Add in more zones and areas
15) General release
16) Add in enhanced features (i.e. Betting on fights)

Please excuse me, because I know nothing about MMORPGs except for how to play them, but wouldn't there be some sort of 'template' you could download/acquire that has someting like a chatroom, and basic playability with white screens and boxes? I mean, it's not completely necessary, because I'm assuming that that's the easy stuff, but it would save you time if such a thing were available, correct?
Sounds good, but what's the use of creating a storyline before actually having a basic playability?
If anything, storyline should be the very last thing to do.
If anything, storyline should be the very last thing to do.
ood point, the storyline will be made up throughout the project, it will be an ongoing thing. It would be good to get that done so that we know what to put in the game after it is playable. An intro sequence will be based on the storyline as well.
im really fired up!! time to do the pretzle! ...nngghhh... gah!
You mentioned capturing the flag,I saw it...
I was thinking about it,maybe I can offer some help...if you like.
I was thinking about it,maybe I can offer some help...if you like.
What kind of help could you offer?
Some ideas,programming,and others.
Can do what I do with quests, add them as you add content into the d-mod.
Ideas would be really good, also if you have any ideas on a storyline or possible quests they are good too.
As for programming, it is currently in PureBasic, if you can use it then you are welcome to tinker around with it. I'll upload files to my site soon if anyone wants to check them out.

If you had read my "IFF system" post really carefully, you can take a glimpse of it...
Oh yeah.
How much work has been done on this? I am anxious to view your current works, the fruits of your labours, as you will.
Also rod.

Well, I have managed to get the client to securely connect to the server and authenticate itself, you can use the client to register a username and then login, the server adds it all to an SQLite database. The server also logs most of what goes on. Right about now my friend is making a map and I am trying to make the client GUI.
An MMO? sweet! will it have to be downloaded? i hope not. I hope there's PVP.
@ KK: (Hope you don't mind the initialism)
1) You will only have to download a client, at the moment it is a 40kb app with a DLL
2) It is based around PVP, so there will be lots of it (hopefully) but it will also cater to those players who don't like fighting other people
EDIT: Why did I write server?

It's an online game released on the internet. How else do you expect to get the game? By stealing his harddisk?

Ask a friend to download it for you? There are lots of theoretical possibilities, including avian carriers.
There have been developement issues, but tonight I will post links to screenshots.
I'm liking those graphics. Are you keeping them?
BG and I discussed it earlier, and we decided that we wouldn't have them as the main graphics, but they may find there way into a secret area or something.
Best Bonca EVAR!!11!!1!
Glad to see the chat isn't taking up the playing screen.
Now for some questions..
*About the controls, will it be standard Dink or WASD+Mouse or something else?
*Also, will everyone end up with the same weapon/spells setup or will there be some variation to this?
*Will there be different types of damage? Not necessarily 15 different elements, it could be as simple as physical and magical.
*Will screens resemble ones of the Dink (one screen size, no scrolling within the screen) or like the newer Zeldas (screens represent an area and there's usually scrolling within the screen)

1) The controls will be similar to dink, but the mouse will be used for various things.
2) Everyone will start with the same weapons and magic, but you will be able to buy more as your level progresses.
3) Interesting idea, I might be able to make physical damage and some elements, but the first betas probably won't have many different types or anything.
4) Due to the nature of the game, screen scrolling will be a part of the game.

Watch you get 75% of this done and find a brickwall that prevents you from going farther... :/
I just overcame a recent brickwall, so developement can continue.
Well thats good... just keep jumping those walls!
If this is really based mostly on pvp I don't look forward to playing it

If there is PvP, will there be certain maps were attacking other player is permitted, and if you kill another player all items they are carrying are dropped and can be picked up by the victor.
Will there be Armour? Unlike the current Dink Smallwood Game.
Will there be an array of train-able skills? Not just magic, attack and defence, but other skills. Not just combat related ones.
Will you be able to trade Items/gold with other players?

1) There will be battlegrounds and stuff where PvP happens
2) Yes there will probably be armour
3) Other skills? I might add them, I'm not sure. They could definitely add to the economy.
4) The economy will be loosely based on player trading, so yeah, there will be trading

I think it would be a good idea for a "bank", a place to store items/gold.
There should also be "bosses" or very powerful monsters with a good deal of loot.
I put an es, after boss because just one boss is really boring. The original dink Smallwood only had 1 boos that was an actual challenge, Seth.
Oh, before the game is released will you have some sort of beta?

You see, this is what I was looking for. Suggestions.
1) Right about now, I don't see any need for a 'bank', but if there is a need for them then they will be put in
2) I will try to put in bosses (Seth wasn't too much of a challenge for me I just charged him with my sword)
3) Yes there will definitely be a beta release, when the time is right.
4) Personal houses... not a bad idea, I don't know wether that will be put in, but we'll see

I give you full permission to use Dink's Nightmare monsters and leveling system for this dmod... I seriously think you shoul have at least 250 Levels, and continueous challenges and quests...
Whoever "help" is, they seem to be asking for Runescape to be copied into a Dink version Jagex would not be happy about that.
Yeah... seems to Runescape/WoWish to me. I'm trying to keep it Dinkish.
Most likely there won't be banks or houses, there will be trading and such though.
Posting new screenies soon.

Those new shots look good. But in the 'register' tab, shouldn't there be a spot to register with an email address? So users can receive stuff like newsletters and such.
Also, a suggestion: Instead of having a bank, how about incorporating something similar to Tyrsis' Dink's Trunk? This would allows for storag of items/gold to keep them safe, and it's quite a bit different from the whole bank system.
BTW: if you do ever see some sort of a need for a bank, possibly a system where you deposit gold and gain interest would be nice to see, I think.
Looking good, FB, keep it coming.

Thanks DD95.
I will probably have an inventory that you carry around with you, like in the original Dink, but different. You can have up to three spells and three weapons equiped, though you can only use one at a time. Also, the inventory will be tabbed, with a tab for armour, a tab for general items, and maybe a quest log.

I'm finally getting somewhere! Chat is now fully functional, though none of you will probably be able to see or use it until the public beta. I'll post a screenie of it working later when the interface is all sorted out.
Yey!
Oh, and to make it dinkish you could have like dungeon with puzzles and monsters with a boss at the end! (or wait... that's Zeldaish... Whatever!)
And ducks! don'r forget the ducks!!
EDIT: *High five!*

If you use the same map from the original, Dink SmallWood, Will you expand it further? The current one from the original, maybe a little small for a mmorpg.
No we will not be using the original map.
Ooh pretty new forum posting stuff button crap.
Ooh pretty new forum posting stuff button crap.
ZOMG! IT'S BG! Yeah, he's right, Blackgaurd is the lead level designer, and we are making our own maps.
Wait, I wont play it then, as it would be pointless to play and not get 250 Levels, you need to make it to where you can keep leveling, so it remains fun. Becuase once you get level 45 you will either start over, or not play it anymore! And only login to chat. At least have high leveling, to keep people interested in the game! At least people like me...

Skull
You can actually only get to 35 levels in Dink.
I don't think you need too much leveling up. All those games with max levels over 50 are just annoying to me. I think Dink has the perfect amount of levels, so it doesn't get too boring to level up.

If thats the way it is going to be, I will stick with games like Seal Online for online chatting as far as mmorpg goes. But seriously, 35 levels would take anyone a day to reach, then the game becomes old fast. Just like original Dink Smallwood. I still have not played normal Dink Smallwood in 3 years becuase of that fact. At least in Seal Online you can get 250 levels and keep leveling up after 35 levels. Plus there are ongoing monsters that are between levels 1 to 250+ to keep you leveling up, and quests for all levels, to keep you constantly working on quests. Plus there is a ranking system, the higher the rank the more powerfull you can be with pets and other stuff you cant wear without higher fame levels. So yeah, I can just imagine myself playing this mmorpg for 1 day, and only staying to chat online, or doing other boring things after making my 35 levels. Then eventually quiting within the first week of offically playing. Its just my two cents, but seriously ask yourself, "Do I really want to make a new mmorpg style game for Dink Smallwood, and not have content that allows higher level ups?", and "How long is this going to be played before it goes to archived files of games never played longer than 2 weeks?" I hope you guys can make this possible and interesting, because 35 Levels is lame, and wont last 2 weeks in my book!
And just as I said, that is what I don't like in any (MMO)RPGs.
Really it should not be even considered a mmorpg, hence what mmorpg means. Massive for large maps, and amounts of players 16 - 32 or higher! Multiplayer which means its online constant hardly any single player aspects. Online as in you have to be online to play, not offline. Role Playing Game. If you dont like mmorpgs then go play Diablo or Diablo II those are good games with only 99 levels and has chat, and so much of a short story that your level 75 by the time you beat the whole game in all difficulity levels. At least then you played it for a year before quiting as I did, or play for a year before hacking your characters to be stronger! LOL
I never said I don't like MMORPGs. I just said I don't like MMORPGs with max level over 50 in them.
I don't enjoy massive leveling. It gets boring for me after a while.
I don't enjoy massive leveling. It gets boring for me after a while.
What makes it boring to you? Perhaps it can be disccussed in here? In other words what would keep you playing a mmorpg at high levels? What would you suggest a mmorpg to have in it to keep you playing even to 250 Levels? Those are the questions that need awnsering, then perhaps the developers here can impliment it and make everyone happy?
There is absolutely nothing that would keep me playing. There would be quests to do, but obviously as you move on in the quests, you need higher levels and I would soon get bored of leveling up. So yeah, unless quests won't need massive leveling up, nothing will stop me getting bored with it.
But if the game is over after a couple of days playing, there isn't anything to come back for, don't you agree? There should me a massive amount of quests, so also a massive amount of levels to reach to keep improving your character. That's basically what MMORPGs are about.
What would keep me playing? The other players. Levelling gets boring really soon, it's the same set of things you're doing over and over only to see a number go up. Your fellow players are keeping it interesting.
Also, if you can reach level 250+ then some people might actually reach that kind of level. And I'm still the same level 12 casual player. What's the fun about that?
Also, if you can reach level 250+ then some people might actually reach that kind of level. And I'm still the same level 12 casual player. What's the fun about that?
Exactly what Meta said: Your fellow players are keeping it interesting.
Skull that dont make sense, so your saying that mmorpgs of today are boring becuase of the people in the game too? I could of sworn I seen lots of people playing the mmorpgs I been playing, and were nice, and helped each other. So your one of those players who like to socialize while playing not just leveling up, and like to have not too hard of quest, but not too simple of quests either? The just right amount of balance between leveling, quests, and socializing with friends?
I said your fellow players are keeping it interesting. How did you manage to get something like that out of my words? With "fellow players", like Meta said, I refer to OTHER players.
Seriously, are you on drugs, cause you seem to not make anything out of what I type to you.
Seriously, are you on drugs, cause you seem to not make anything out of what I type to you.
One minute you said you dont like mmorpgs becuase of high levels and that you loose interest basically, then you changed to you want the mmorpg to have other players that keep it interesting basically. What exactly bothers you about mmorpgs online right now, like Metin2, Seal Online, Fly For Fun, and WoW? I could of sworn they have people on them, and your making it sound like from what I just read that you dont like them period, but you started agreeing with another post above about the interaction with people on the servers that it keeps it going. Sounds like to me you just dont like mmorpgs at all.
Ok, this time seriously: Are you on drugs?
I said: I HATE MASSIVE LEVELING UP IN MMORPGs BUT THE OTHER PEOPLE PLAYING IT KEEP IT INTERESTING. WHEN I SAID NOTHING WILL KEEP ME INTERESTED IN "IT", I MEANT THAT NOTHING WILL KEEP ME INTERESTED IN LEVELING UP!!
Got it?

Btw, I am not on drugs.
And I can conclude that you just dont like mmorpgs. Simple enough. And you dont have to get all mad about it either. I was not even mad when posting!

WTF!?
I never said I don't MMORPGs. This is why I ask you are you on drugs lol. I do like MMORPGs. But there are MMORPGs out there with no ridiculous amount of leveling needed. Those are the ones that I like. End of story. And yes, other people are one of the reasons why I keep interested in playing them.
Also, you probably wouldn't admit it even if you were on drugs. Hmmmm....

I'm on drugs. Mostly caffeine and alcohol.
I'm also addicted to Oxygen.
I'm also addicted to Oxygen.
What I would like to see in an online game is good gameplay. No going from A to Z kind of gameplay but the kind of gameplay that remains fun. Take a simple board game for example, you never really advance but nearly every time you play it it's different. (I can't really find the words to explain this very will but I guess you get the idea.) Most MMORPGs rely on questing and levelling which means that if there's no other gameplay involved it may be fun to do once but not to do twice, the game will eventually finish leaving you as a master of all but without a goal. Luckily in a good game, quests are different from each other and the further you level the more things you get to play with preventing you from repeatedly doing basically the same thing. If you combine this with some other good gameplay you can finish the game but remain to have fun afterwards. Kind of like Diablo actually (I really mean kind of. Chopping down creatures with some fun variation still remains chopping down creatures.) but not like WoW.
WoW just lacks gameplay IMO mostly just because it all comes down to pressing a certain order of buttons. WoW does have fun things but in the end it's just same old boring stuff all over again for me. What I also hated in WoW is that it's nearly impossible to be an actual individual; you managed to get this awesome armour and that cool mount? Well great! Here's another million of other people who have those things. Also in WoW you HAVE to group up for certain things. I prefer to play a game in which help is a benefit and not a necessity. That's why I liked Diablo better.
This is one reason why I wanted to make Magical Mayhem Online. No boring levelling, you can fight whoever you want and it'll be lots of fun. Levelling doesn't have to be boring though as long as it's not mindless grinding.

Should I... say something?
Wow, what a surprise I got when the post count was increased by 30!
As the main developer, I would like to say something. Yes, there will be levels. No, there will not be 250, The amount of levels is yet TBA. There will not be low amounts of levels, Skull, but there will hopefully not be any mindless grinding.
There will be a major focus on PvP, so we can't have excessive levels unless there will be enough players to have at least a couple of people within each level range (i.e. lvl 10-15). This will put a theoretical level cap on the playability of the game, stretch it too thin and playability drops.
There will probably be less than 100 levels, though I'm not too sure yet.
Also, a really big issue that comes to mind is something TGA brought up.
How long shou,d it take to raise your level?
If it takes only a short amount of time to raise your level, soon everyone will be at the max, and there won't really be much to do. If it raises to slowly, everybody will be stuck doing repetitive tasks over and over again. There is a delicate balance that BG and I will have to work out. No, you will not be able to level to 35 or whatever in a day. Tough luck to those that want to, it is, for the most part, an unacheivable goal. I'm leaning towards dynamic leveling systems, where the higher your level the longer it takes to raise it, but the rate at which this happens will still need to be modified.
Just my 2 cents... now where's my banana?

When you make towns/cities plz make it so there is at least 1 Port. The original dink Smallwood game had no port, Kersin was close to the ocean but it wasn't a port.
When it's released will you continue to update it, add new quests/places. ect.
Will it run on other Os. eg. Linux, Mac.

An yway, too much leveling is boring... Mmo should focus on other stuff, like pvp and pve that's not based on gaining experience but rather on enjoying a story... Take a look on Guild Wars... level 20 is the max level (which you can get to in 2 weeks, with 2hours a day) and it's still entertaining after that, that's because of the hundreds of missions with great storyline... A near perfect pvp system...

1) There will probably be ports in the final game, though unlikely at first, there definitely will be.
2) Yes, most definitely. There are plans for multiple maps that cannot be implemented straight away, and there will be constant improvements and updates.
3) Probably not Mac, but maybe Linux.

I'm waiting,still waiting...
Amen. Bump, bump, bump.
I've added two screenshots, just if you wanted to know.
Also, I have been working hard on it, so progress is being made, I assure you.
I've already added a banana reference

A banana reference? You should have like 50 of those by now.

I, like many, would like to report a fail (404 Forbidden) error on Screenshot 3 and image 3.
and all the rest for me they're all black

racist

Your' mum is racist.
Ex-D I have been having issues with scrren 3 and image 3, but that just seems to be my web hosts way of saying that it's new, it seems to have been fixed for me but I'll check them all again.
For some reason, my web host doesn't like outside links, if you go to http://www.dannysite.co.cc/games/pages/oda.html you can check all the screenshots and stuff there.
P.S. I don't want anyone replying just to correct me by putting the <a> tag in, it is already in my first post, it is just there in case links don't work for someone, so just copypasta the url
EDIT: I put the < and > tags the wrong way around... I wasn't sure if the board would try to change the 'a' into some sort of anchor/link so I put the HTML codes for the angle brackets...

I have added two more pics, all links seem to work for me except the two I just added so you may have to wait just a little while before they work. Intro movie almost complete.
None of the links are working
403 Forbidden errors.
Can't you just put the screenies on imageshack or something?
403 Forbidden errors.
Can't you just put the screenies on imageshack or something?
they will work cause they're in YOUR CACHE hehe
Just some things I have found.
Various HTTP header checkers return the result '200' for the images, meaning they are NOT forbidden from people other than me. If you copy -> paste the URL into the address bar it will probably work fine, for some reason my web host either doesn't like referrals or just TDN.

I'm currently in the middle of converting my entire site to PHP so if any weirdness occures it is probably because of that (Yes, the PHP include(includes/footer.php); error is because of this)
Also, Blackguard is working on giving us some photobucket links for the screenshots, he sent me a link but I can't seem to be able to access them so stay tuned.

What's the point of converting it to PHP? There's not much dynamic content to deliver.
There's more to the site than what you see... plus it's for maintenance issues as well. I have plans for my site over the next couple of months that would be a lot easier with PHP, including some dynamic content.
SSI makes site-wide changes so much easier, which is the main reason why everything is going PHP. There are already some 'hidden' PHP scripts available only to me, with more to come.
Also, a couple of pages will be going dynamic in about a months time as I write my own content management system to post news articles in MYSQL. No, I will not use Joomla, it is much too advanced for what I'm doing, yet doesn't give me the flexibility I desire. Writing your own content manager means you can tailor it to your own needs and it is very flexible. Trust me, I have experience with Joomla, and while it is good, that isn't what I want (yes I want a good site, that's not what I meant)
tl;dr Doing it for SSI to make site-wide changes easier, gradually implementing dynamic content, and a content management system hand-written by me.

No offense to Fireball and Blackguard or whoever is waiting for this to be released, but only having added ducks and chat this far doesn't seem very promising.
EDIT: And are those images some sort of a joke? Because they look awful.

Yes Skull, those images are jokes. I think we have already established that the in game graphics will not look like it has been drawn in paint by a two-year old. That was just to show an early idea of what the interface might look like.
And I'll have you knwo that I have been busy with my new job that just got me a new Windows 7, so no, I havn't had much time to work on it, and Blackguard doesn't get in contact very often so it's hard to exchange ideas at times. On top of a part-time SEO job, I also have to manage my own website, which is going through changes, and my boss now wants to to progam a specialised calculator for him, among other commitments.
School is about to start soon, so hopefully work will not consume so much of my time that I can't work on ODA, and work on my website should be completed very soon so I will have more time.

Ok, it's good to hear.
Obivously it is going to take hell of a lot of time, but yeah, it still feels like a very little bit of work done. Especially when we know the fact that usually when Dinkers promise something, it's left halfway unfinished.

This isn't halfway unfinished, it's like, 3%...
I worded it wrong... 3% finished
In the area of content management systems, I've always found that whenever I decided to develop it myself, it was also possible by modifying an existing CMS, and usually richer in features too. There are so many content management systems, I wonder what your specific needs are that they're not available in an existing CMS (like Joomla).
It's not that they don't have the feature I want, it's that they are too rich in features, too many options, when all I want to do is one simple thing. It would be much easier for me to write a simple CMS than to modify an existing one. Besides, despite the fact that most CMS are feature-rich, they arn't as flexible as I want. I often find more flexibility in notepad than in Joomla, as it takes me fifteen minutes to make a small change on one particular page in Joomla when it only takes a few seconds in notepad, and maybe a minute to get the FTP client ready and upload it. Not saying I suck at using Joomla, but if I can click approx. 500 times/minute, btu I need to move the cursor that reduces the speed greatly, counter in the time it takes for Joomla to refresh/load, that is only less than ten actions a minute. Then I have to wade through tonnes of pages and security features just to get to the page editor, then I have to spend a couple of minutes looking through a long list of includes and such to find the particular feature I want to modify. Once found, I hen have to locate the specific line of code, and since Joomla has so many unnecessary features (for my purpose) there is potentially thousands of lines of unused HTML/JavaScript/PHP that I have to look through. Then I can change that feature. Oh, BTW, in the time it took to change one feature slightly in Joomla, I could have updated my whole website in notepad.
Don't she dog to me about how n00bish I am for not learning Joomla or whatever and saying I can change features and such because most of the settings cannot be changed unless you go down to the basic HTML code of the Joomla templates. Something as simple as changing where the banner image link takes you could take 10-15 minutes, when the same thing could be done in only two minutes in notepad and filezilla.

Awh, you're so cute when you're programming. *Pats the she-dog*
I know, but this is just my experience: I've developed a CMS for a website and each feature (news/images/whatever) works the same: get input from forms, pass it to the server, process it, put it in database.. and in reverse when displaying something (minus the forms). Looking back on it, a lot of work could have been saved by building it on top of an existing system.
Maybe Joomla is too rich in features and I don't know in what direction you'll develop your website, but it's worth checking if you can't reuse existing code, perhaps by using a more basic CMS. In particular in the area of content management for the web, it's unlikely that building from scratch is worthwhile.

Like I said, why fish around in Joomla templates for fifteen mintues when I could just change it in notepad?
Joomla makes it so much more difficult to manage styling and functionality, of course you could just download a different theme, but I want to design my own layout and style, doing that in Joomla just requires a bit too much effort I beleive.
Besides, this is a gradual change, if something is needed I will implement it.
Now lets go back to ODA chatter.

Push to the top.
I'm just a little busy at the moment, if you check this page out, you might get an idea of what's going on. There are more things that arn't shown though, so don't say that I don't look busy.
I wished I could work on ODA right now, but my boss wants me to finsih a program for him first, and I have homework, and I'm trying to fix up my website (part of the PHP conversion) so that I can make way for things like ODA. I have finsihed all the SSI, but my news updater doesn't seem to like MySQL.
Anyway, as soon as I get the chance I will do more work on it, I'm just a little overwhelmed at the moment.

If you want, I could help you come up with quest plots when the time comes. I can't help you with programming unless you need someone to sit beside you to make yourself feel smarter.
Thanks pillbug.
P.S. Just after my previous post I stared down my computer and got MySQL working, so now I can finish my news updater thingy! Yay!
ODA uses SQLite hough, because I don't need a DB server running while the ODA server is running, so my site will probably use mostly MySQL while ODA uses SQLite. Interesting...
EDIT: News is functional now, instead of manually entering all the HTML code and re-uploading the front page I now have a small script that can do it for me. w00t! It isn't fully functional yet, but it is at the stage where I can leave it and work on other things... like ODA.
