Shrine of the Dragon
This was originally being made for the DDC contest - the contest has died but I'm still planning on completing the D-Mod anyway.
Shrine of the Dragon is about a young girl who was taken in by the Dead Dragon Carcass at a young age and is now about to become a full member of the cult. Something happens to make her rethink her views though... maybe being a part of the DDC isn't so good after all.
Meanwhile, Dink has been sent by King Daniel to investigate reports of a group of DDC cultists in the area, and to deal with them if he finds them.
Both will be playable characters at different points in the game.
Screenshots coming

Sounds good. Multiple playable characters is always enjoyable. Keep up the good work.
Agreed, looking foreward to some more sacrifices lol
Multiple playable characters means multiple story endings perhaps?

I'm considerin making my first D-mod about DDC too. But I'm also the Lord of Procrastination....
That's funny, I was also working on a DDC-mod and I was planning to have multiple player controlled characters too.
Anyway, it sounds good Sparrowhawk! I hope you finish it!

Aww no way I had the same plan. I did add some new things to it though so I doupt our D-Mods will look alike
Great minds think alike, as they say
By the way, the story is vaguely based on The Tombs of Atuan, by Ursula Leguin.

Excellent concept.
One of the most interesting d-mods advertised in a long time... I look forward to it's release. Though I'd perhaps be slightly more interested if the cultist was a power crazy psycho.

This is gonna rock! How far are you making the game?

I've been away for a week or so and haven't done much (anything).
Tomorrowish I'll upload some screenshots and get working

Nice screenshots, they look good. I'm looking forward to this Dmod, it sound interesting.
I hope you finish it.

A little. Yes this is still actively being worked on and will be released, though I hesitate to give any sort of time frame
As soon as possible I hope.

1 and a half years.
Now that was when you gave us the last update.

Coming up on 2 and a half...
I, er, haven't touched it in the past year.
It's definitely not abandoned though! I often think of it, it's just a little behind schedule... Hopefully I'll start work on it again soon.
Started two other small projects in the meantime, one of which will probably see the light of day.
I blame getting married, changing jobs (twice), moving home (possibly twice), and general laziness.

soo....any progress lately?
Erm... I backed it up and moved it to my new laptop ready to carry on working with it, does that count?
No, no real progress. It has been increasingly on my mind over the last few weeks though actually, so it may come back to life soon

It's weird. I wouldn't be able to abandon my D-Mod for this long even if I tried to.
try finihing it by the next year.
That's pretty hard to do, krish. It would take quite a bit to finish and then to have someone beta test it. It'll be a while before it's released.
any news on shrine of the dragon yet?
"any news on shrine of the dragon yet?"
No news is good news, right? Right?

No news means nothing has been done.
Usually.

Does this mean that the Dmod is a fake, to get our attention.
The dmod is not fake. Sparrowhawk just forgot about it is all. He'll start working on it again when another ddc contest comes up.
What does DDC stand for, also couldn't he release it before and have it compete?
Dead
Dragon
Carcass
I don't understand your second question, but I'll say no because that's probably the right answer.

Oh yeah that DDC, also couldn't an already dmod compete in it or is it just newly created dmods?
You have to say the whole name, Cindy!
Contests never allow already released files; they must always be new. Even stronger, they don't even allow modifications of released files. In every contest, it says as an example that Sharp cannot modify Milderrr and compete with it.

Then when is the next contest?
Whenever a staff member or other dinker decides to stop being lazy one day and come up with a new contest idea.

Well the thing is, most -if not all- contests on here have had some sort of prize, be it monetary or otherwise. However I personally don't really have anything worth giving away, nor do I feel like spending a crapton of money on postage to get a prize halfway around the world. That's the big issue for me. Otherwise I would gladly talk to a staff member about hosting some dmod creation contest. Coming up with a contest idea feels simple enough.

@Leprochaun, you could use your pot of gold, you cheap sob.
Couldn't someone summon Dan and have him use his saved porn and nutella money to make a contest?

Well, leprocaun, the prize necessarily need not necessarily be monetary.
What about his hat?
Um, no. Sorry.
Still adamant it's going to be finished, just no time at the moment to work on it properly
Can't believe I started this in 2009 That's insane. Time flies...

The premise sounds really good. It involves some detective work maybe? More dead bodies as in The Savebot Massacre? *we wants blood.*
Yeah, time flies and life happens...
Anyway, I would like to play it when it is finished, if I am still around.
Good luck with it!

No, I am not. I am sure I have an account on here but I cannot access it as I forgot my username. It has been several years since my last login. If this "with grammar" thing is a compliment, thank you.

Any progress? Close to release at all?
I wish. But... no.
But you have inspired me! There'll probably be a short-lived burst of creativity soon, resulting in a couple of hours work on an unrelated project that will then be shelved for a few more months
Adamant that this is not dead though.

you were inspired by asking if there was progress?
Not only is it not strange... but you may consider this another inquiry as to how things are going. What percentage of completion have you reached? Can you send us some screen shots?

I salute SlipDink's enthusiasm. This guy sure loves DMODS! Are there still many others interested in dmods these days? How may people still play them?
Also, what ever happened to Shevek? A lot of people that were around when I joined here seem to have vanished.

I still like DMODs! I have at least 20-30 installed, and I'm kind of working on a new one right now! When its in more of an official state Ill even make a new thread about it

Cool! I think about making another dmod from time to time. Sometimes life sucks and mapping is a nice distraction. Time will tell..........
Tell us more about your idea!
My dmod is about ghostssssssssss...........
Any chance this dmod is going to be revived and finished?
@Toof
If you mean that I've become infected with an effort to keep the DN on life support, then I suppose you are correct.

Well, how is this coming along lately?
Estimated release date... hopefully by the end of 2009.
Sounds similar to deadline promises I made of TDA.
And look, another similarity. TDA was originally started as an entry in the DDC contest.
