My cat died.
Of liver cancer.
Buried her at the bottom of the garden...
What pets do you have, if any? I saw Ducklord has some new kittens. Seems odd thinking of my fat mogs as kittens, 6 or 7 years ago now!

That sucks, my dog died of cancer about a year ago. It was really hard on us since we had her for about 12 years. Also just seeing her like that, she was swelled up so much, it was just painful to look at her. On a brighter side we now have two healthy cats.
Aww, I always get sad when I hear about deceased cats. I have a cat myself, and I can't imagine it dying even though it will happen one day :'(
I'm sad to hear it man. I've had tame rats for a while (I know most people think they're creepy, but they're my sweet little girls, really) and 3 of my rats died of cancer, I was totally down for at least a month. These animals become your friends, it's hard to let them go.
Dang, I know how you feel, man. February of last year, our dog died. She was 14 years old. We'd had her since she was a baby. She just kept having strokes, and she could barely walk. One day, my dad took her to the vet, and she never came back. I actually cried.
Sad. My guinea pig died when I was around 10 years old. It was very sad. He didn't even live over one and half years, as they're supposed to live for 5 years.
It's name was Vilperi, by the way.
Sorry about your cat, Sparrowhawk. It's always sad when your pet dies.

dang ive hadmany cats die "sob"
Me too, my father put three down yesterday, actually. He does that about once a year to "prevent them from doing shoot too much".
You know who also kills a lot of animals? SPCA.
On the family old farm, it was honestly easier to have four or five healthy cats rather than 10 or 12 starving to death cats come wintertime. That, and we liked songbirds more than cats. Just trying to point out that sometimes you don't get the whole story.

My first pet was a guinea pig I had for one year. A stray cat killed it. Fortunately it wasn't totally eaten or eviscerated, but only had four small pin holes which almost no blood came out of. I belive it must have died of fright probably having never been attacked in its life.
My other pet is a dog whom I currently have. She's about 13 and has a huge lump in her chest I believe is cancer. She's had it for years now and it hasn't gotten much bigger. I would have it removed, but when I discovered it I realised she was already at an age where even without cancer she won't live another year or two. Amazing she's not only alive two years later, but just as active as many years before without the lump.
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Of course, that might well be the case with Vukodlak as I remember hearing he lives on a farm.
It's somewhat out of context though as the thread was about cats as family pets, plenty of people just shoot anything that comes on their yard out of spite.

i have tree turtles. Before i had two others but they died.
That is true. There is a sizable difference between domicile housecats and feral farmcats. The later don't have the conditioning to be willing to be around people, nor do they use litter boxes, etc, etc.
Aww, sorry about your cat. *hugs*
I have 2 kitties right now. They're my babies.
I so hate having a pet die but I'd rather know
them for a short while and bear the pain of
losing them then never have known them at all.
P.S. Don't ever give your pets Tylenol. It'll
destroy their liver and likely kill them.

I would suggest not giving your pet any food or medication that isn't clearly manufactured for pets...
Sorry to hear that SparrowHawk. I had a hampster die about 3 years ago. Sad, but an awesome dog took his place. My Mom has a dog of her own, and it likes to EAT. Her eating problem almost got her killed twice. Once because she ate a plastic garbage bag, and another because she ate a bad ham bone. She always gets into our trash. My dog hasnt had to many problems, though, except she's a little too protective.
I've got two guinea pigs that are about 5 and I thought they were only supposed to live for 2-3 years. I got given one by the neighbour and my dog killed it and got another one and the dog killed that one too so I got two more. My sister has had 4 and they've all just died mysteriously after about a year.
some time ago (when i was 5-10 years old) one of our cats got run over and died. around the same time another one of our cats ran away and was seen periodically triying to get back in but our other cat wouldn't let it back. so we just had that one cat. when we moved house we had a little ginger kitten but it ran away too. later my fathers work friends found a small cat/kitten in a plastic bag by the side of the road. so we looked after it. but our old cat that we had right from the beggining was getting very sick and had to be put down. so it was just the new cat. then we tried getting a rabbit. but my younger sibling killed it... i cried so much. well i've had a bad run with pets but right now i have 1 cat, 3 rabbits, and a guinea pig
Do you make sure your guinea pigs get plenty of Vitamin C? They'll be stricken by scurvy if they don't get enough of it.
Thanks for your condolences everyone
I didn't give her any Tylenol, though someone did suggest brandy would perk her up a bit... Not sure that would've been too good for the liver!

My guinea pigs only get grass and vegetable scraps so I think they should have enough vitamin C, one of them will probably die soon, he's really dopey and I think his immune system is going because he's got a lump and might have mites.
