When Dinkers Turn Naughty
What's with all the language-filter circumventing lately? Obviously you can't totally circumvent it, but I've noticed a lot of people replacing a character or two of certain words in order to produce nearly the same word. Don't get me wrong.. I'm not a big pansy, nor do I honestly think that noone here has avoided exposure to swearing, but the filter's there for a reason: to discourage harsh language. If you have something negative to convey, do it in a clever way.
Why in a clever way? Why not just say exactly what were thinking? Or exactly what were feeling. We have a right to express ourselves.
Er.... You most certianly do not. This site isn't a democracy, and we don't have free speech. It's a benevolent dictatorship, and there are rules. If you want to swear at someone, use the swears, and have them get filtered. Everyone know what you mean, and the n00b's don't explode when everyone else insults them.
If you truely want to insult someone, you just have to study them a bit, and then call them on whatever you discover. It can be vile, horrendus, and result in the gaining of a horrible rep within the entire comunity, and it can be done all without swearing. It's clever, and it's much more effective. It's also much more dangerous.
Lastly, it's pathetically immature to have to swear so often that you have to get around the swear filter becuase the normal swear filter replacements have lost their emphasis.

Yes, we have the right to express ourselves, but that doesn't give us the right to swear. Swearing and expressing are different. Swearing can be abusive. We do not have the right to be abusive.
You can express yourself without swearing, and it's not as difficult as you might think, really.

Nothing is as difficult as you think. Or it's a hell of a lot harder than you think. It has a 2:8 chance to go either way. (The 8 is the harder than you think one)

Fudge you, you fudging she-dog donkey richard!

Naughty, naughty language o' mighty Nobleman Striker. The f-bomb, ass, b-word, and the male private...God. Someone had a cussing spree.
Your sarcasm, swearing, and "burning" sure make you a bold fellow, oh almighty and intimidating DinkKiller.
I take that as a burn, and as a compliment. Thank you Tal.
-The DinkKiller
Edit: does the F-bomb actually turn into fudge? *test* fudge
Edit2: Wow, it actually does. So either Striker wrote the actual words, or he was careful enough to write the proper filter words. Hmmmmm...

It was meant as sarcasm and as a mockery of you, not as a compliment in any form.
Well I ignored pretty much everything but the bold fellow, so...yeah...
Wait a second... HOW DARE YOU MOCK ME!!
Wait a second... HOW DARE YOU MOCK ME!!
Out of a wish to correct the low oxygen levels in your vicinity?
Indeed, once may even be so bold as to say my own comment was an aimed mockery.
I don't think dang sounds good, so I sometimes go around it by typing dam n. I don't see how the word's that bad, anyway...
Mmmmm, fudge.
Tal : Whattya mean 'turn' naughty.I was born naughty!

There is an interesting thing about swear words.
About any word may be concidered swear one.
You take a "real" swear and replace some letters.
Some time later everyone knows you swear if you say a substitute word.
Like say "jeez" - and somebody says it's the same as swearing,
or in russian - say "blin!" (rus. pancake) - and about everyone knows you say bl***
(the russian word one uses like "she-dog" addressed to nobody in particular)
So the swear filters lead to global language abusification .....

Do the swear filters apply to non-English swear words?

Yes, you just don't tell them you're swearing. We've got a reputation for posting in tons of stuff in Finnish, nobody will be able to tell anyway..
Then again, some might not like reading that any more than they love swearing. Dull outishlanders, these people. What's some United Sates of Amirica compared to Finland, I mean.. c'mon.

Perhaps don't ask for permission. 'Podex perfectus es' for example.
$%!@#$%^&* *$%^%
EDIT: Oh! And I also want to say *bleep* *bleep bleep* and
*BLEEP* to 'you know who'!

Does it bother anyone that "Dinker" sounds like a bad word?

It only bothers me when I am telling a 'non-dinker' about the
game and stuff.
game and stuff.
Funny thought: what's the sense of swearing if you cannot tell anyone you're actually doing that?
Huh? My post was deleted again? God, I was only joking... Can't I make a little joke around here?
Not if they're plain annoying and pointless.
And more importantly they are FFF, Far From Funny.

Well, they are not laugh out loud jokes. Just a ha, or a not even funny joke...Or just a insult that I don't really mean.
Nice, you really showed your maturity then didn't you rp64! Good boy!
Sharp, you dim dang darn fudgeroonie... what's so cool about the Finnish? From what I've been able to tell, they eat ice and wear horned helmets ...
By the way, when I feel like swearing, I instead use big words that no one understands. Have you all got that you uncouth bombastic bedouchers?

Finnish people also enjoy cheap beer, like me.
Hm. What the hell has really happened here at DN, did I miss something while I was away?

I never knew you were even a dinker.
Ok I have a few questions now... how do you make bold letters? Am I going to be executed?
You never read the rules page? You really need to. It's in there.
Executed? We much prefer torture to capital punishment here in Dink Country. Now if Tal will be kind enough to go break out the nipple-sized pastry cutters, we can begin...
