Please let me hear your comments. It has been recoded in PHP. The only thing missing is the screenshots on the right (which I might take down completely).

I like it. And Its nice that the DinkC++ article looks right( as opposed to posting here where spaces dissapear).
Looks like you are progressing. Any thoughts on what I can do next? I've mostly been making models. I have that grid-shadow down pat if that type of shadow is easier for you. Better wallpaper?

British = grey, if I don't mistake myself

And who cares what color it is as long as it works?

Er, that was a rhetorical question, as several people have already identified themselves as answers.

Grey is the British spelling and Gray is the American way.

As for more color - probably not. I'm not a big fan of color. Ask me privately if you need to know why (mainly because I'm too lazy to type a prolix explanation right now).

@ All: Final exams are done for me. I will be programming Windemere for the next few weeks.

@ Ric: I think we need to discuss this more thoroughly, preferably in a chat session. Or I might hold a public Windemere chat soon. I dunno. We'll see how far I get.

@ Nobody: I was thinking of (of course, after the basics were finished) of adding a trigonometric shadow drawer. For example, you could specify an angle of elevation for the sun at, let's say, 37 degrees, and, assuming the object was 6 feet tall, a 7.96 foot shadow would automatically be drawn. These are virtual feet, of course.

merlin, i was just reading your windemere site; I saw you were talking about "lua" I think (I'm too lazy to look back), and you were saying how much you liked it compared to C. If you really want something grandiose (where you don't need braces and typeless variables) you should use VB or vb.net.

Don't ever say that again. C++ is the best language ever and nothing could ever replace it (except for maybe D).

smack yourself; your the one who wants a ba$tardized language type. I hate loose languages as much as loose women.

Oh, and correction, Java is the BEST language, not that dependant C stuff...not that there's anything wrong with it...

Java has no practical application. Compare how many things are written in C/++ with how many things are written in Java. C/++ wins, hands down.

And WTF is a "ba$tardized language type?"

C++ > PHP > Perl > Mexico > shoot > Java > You.

So there!

EDIT: And I can assure you I didn't type "shoot".

What about C#? Surely that is better than C++? It is made as an advancement of C++ and as such fixes some of the flaws of C++. Many of the experts think it is better, even though (like all languages that exist and will ever exist) it has its own flaws.
December 17th 2004, 01:04 PM
pq_knight.gif
hahaha, java has no practical application? you obviously aren't a programmer professionally.

Did you know that in the telecommunications industry, that over half of the leading ISPs and phone service providers use java in some form or fashion for their critical systems? Like, billing, accounting, and providing killer internal apps? Or that many leading businesses use Java Enterprise apps to communicate and frontend their complex and massive databases? No, I doubt you don't. You feel like since you have some concept of putting syntax, variables, math formula's etc... together, you are an industry expert on a current trends and technologies.

Save your dribble for some Java bashing board; not infecting the minds of Dink Network with your incensant bigotry of Java.

Do I think Java is King of all other languages? no, C++ (better yet, C#) is better than Java in some regards. You know why? because you develop depending on the application, not what your IT department knows or "Like".

So go $crew yourself, you PHP, Perl loving F*ckTard. Java trumps some, but not all. But don't act like its a redheaded stepchild of programming languages; your beloved PHP/Perl can be given that regard. C++ is to Java, what MySQL is to Oracle; always a competitor, but rarely competiton.

Oh, BTW, I can code Java circles around your C++ A$$. $crew that, I can code C circles around your A$$.

"ba$tardized language type?" == VB and any loose language that doesn't have strict standards for programming; take a sec and think about it how dumb people $crew up projects with their "easy" languages.

I'm friendly to anyone except for ignorant or unintelligent people. I don't care about race or color.

But I am a defender of factual interpretation of subjects. Saying "C++ is the best language" is in no way factual. Then to go bashing me, well then he made it personal. that's all.

I would like to add that many new mobile phones (even here in New Zealand where we are slow at getting new monile phone technology) use Java, so yes Java is VERY useful for practical applications, as mobile phones are used as ways for business partners to communicate.

Bullshoot it isn't because of race or color. It's because I'm white, isn't it? ISN'T IT!?

I admit you are right when you say this isn't the correct place for a Java/C(++) argument, but you are contributing to this argument much more than I am. Take a look at how the thread turns right after you post something.

With your "ba$tardized language type" you essentially dissed everybody at the DN who uses DinkC. It is indeed a "ba$tardized language" and the improved version will too be "ba$tardized". Maybe you can't see that it just isn't necessary?

I must say I rather enjoy your horrid attempts at insulting me. They make me laugh at how hard you try at attempting to defend your honor. So, with all due respect, please continue, you queef.

So go on. I and the rest of the DN are watching you make an ass of yourself.

It has nothing to do with honor, just correcting your ignorance.

Also, I don't care if I dissed everyone who use DinkC. It's not my role to be your buddy or friend. I just hate when someone goes on a bashing about something so huge as say, programming languages. It's the same mentality of saying "Xbox is the best console ever!" -- when clearly this is an ignorant blanket statement.

You're attempt to ridicule me is annoying, yet unimportant to me. I could care less what you say about me in "cyberspace".

Oh, I'm also white.

DraconicDink, I give you credit for knowing that Java is on cellphones. The technology is on about 70% of all cellphones in the past 4 years. I was going to use this in my previous argument, but realized that I needed something more large scale to prove my point.

Good work.

Java is widely taught now in most colleges as the introductory programming languages. I have studied it extensively and must say that there are many confusing things about it that make c++ better then it. For one the whole file input and output for java makes no sense(the commands I mean) while c++ is much more straightforward and easier to program with. Java is being used more now because of its great ability to be cross platform. Just get the right interperter and you can make it work on any platform, mac, pc, linux. This is all thanks to java's intermediate byte code form. But agian c++ is much more straight forward and I think easier to understand.
