Hi
just saw that dink has been released as freeware now.
Would it be possible to release the sourcecode so that a linux port could be made, possibly by the chaps over at www.icculus.org they ported duke nukem 3d within 3 days when the source to that was released.

I don't think that will ever happen. At least not as we stand today. If someone else would care to explain that further, please go on.
Gotta take that up with the author. If you can really talk up how cool it would be to get a linux port out, who knows, maybe he'll go for it.
It would be pretty cool actually.

Releasing Dink in Linux might attract some great new programmers too

Ah yes, teh programmers! We need more linux fruits around here.
Better late than never - if anyone is again on the search for dink on linux:
You can run Dink on a Linux system using the windos-binaries and the free emulator wine. I tested yesterday a little bit, and it seems to work very well. Have a look here, if you are interested:

Linux rulez!

I think one post would have been sufficient to address Linux concerns.
I wrote a short linking message in every related thread only to make clear that there exists a solution. For those, who are too lazy to search the complete board. Sort of service ...
Yep, Wine has improved a lot. But Dink still may not run on all systems.
I tried it a few months ago, and Dink kept giving a 'Directory not found. Why?' error.
Might try it with 1,08 soon, though. That seems to pass on the commands differently, somehow.

I know a yellow star under your name means you're a peasant, a red one for king, a... this color one for noble, but what means the green one? I noticed phoenix has a green star.
Junior staff, I think.
EDIT: It used to mean that. I see old posts still have old star colours.

Hmm.. curiously, it seems as though we have no junior staff at this time. Junior staff were usually the ones who maintained the chats or some other smaller task and nothing else, and chats are pretty much dead at the moment.. hmm.
Hmm. Hmm.
Hmm. Hmm.
if you hold your cursor over it it says Bard
Indeed.
Gray = Ghost (no account or not logged in)
Gold = Peasant (standard forumgoer)
Green = Bard (Junior Staff)
Purple = Noble (Senior Staff)
Red = King (Webmaster/redink1)

But Phoenix has a yellow star now... why the demotion? Or have you eliminated 'junior staff'?
I believe he elected to leave chat staff. And then pretty much everyone else on chat staff abandoned their duties as well. Anyone on junior staff for any other reason (I think maybe SimonK and Sabre?) were eventually promoted, um, for the heck of it.
