You feed the madness, and it feeds on you.
This thread contains all info on my LP for Cloud Castle.
Whenever I post a new video I will post an update so people can watch them.
I am breaking the let's play videos up into different parts, and naming them depending on which part of the game was played through. I will have titles for each part below, as well as a description for that part.
About Awesome points:In most parts there is a Topic Discussion, this is a topic you can discuss or answer, in order for you to receive Awesome Points. You can answer by making a post below, or you can send me your answer in a private message. The person with the most Awesome Points at the end of the LP will get to choose the next Dmod I will LP.

-Cloud Castle-
part 1 - Exalted Establishment
In this part we will explore the surroundings, meet some characters, kick some ass, and establish the story.
-Topic Discussion(CLOSED): What is that blue guard thinking?
Example asnwer: The blue guard is actually Sabretrout. He has taken on a short leave and now stands guard at the village. He stands there, waiting for Dink to walk past, so he can laugh his ass off at his green tights and red bandanna.
-Awesome Point winnings: 1st place gets 3 Awesome Points. 2nd place gets 2 Awesome Points. 3rd place gets 1 Awesome Point. All others get 0.
Videos
Exalted Establishment

part 2 - Words of Wisdom
This time we'll read some books in the library, take revenge on the giant bonca, and advance our quest some more.
-Topic Discussion(CLOSED): Why is that bonca so dang big?
Example asnwer: The giant bonca wanted to become a sumo, so he decided to try and get as fat as he possibly could. While doing some research, he came across some advice that eating boncas is the quickest way to become fat. Immediately after hearing this, he turned to cannibalism and ate every bonca in town - that is also the reason why he is the only bonca in town. He ate them all.
-Awesome Point winnings: 1st place gets 3 Awesome Points. 2nd place gets 2 Awesome Points. 3rd place gets 1 Awesome Point. All others get 0.
Videos
Words of Wisdom

part 3 - Fairy Ring Recipe
This time we'll collect some items to activate a fairy ring, and complete a few more quests.
-Topic Discussion(CLOSED): In this part you will notice I purchased a skull of a legendary goblin that led his people to rebellion over 1000 years ago. Write a short story, or just an idea on this goblin.
-Awesome Point winnings: 1st place gets 3 Awesome Points. 2nd place gets 2 Awesome Points. 3rd place gets 1 Awesome Point. All others get 0.
Videos
Fairy Ring Recipe

part 4 - To The Sky
In this part we will make sure we have a few steel skin potions and then make our way to Cloud Castle...
-Topic Discussion(CLOSED): Why did Monkeynuts' parents call him 'Monkeynuts'? What inspired them to call him that?
-Awesome Point winnings: 1st place gets 3 Awesome Points. 2nd place gets 2 Awesome Points. 3rd place gets 1 Awesome Point. All others get 0.
Videos
To The Sky

part 5 - Goblin Gore
In this exciting but frustrating part, we will make our way through most of Cloud Castle and kill a lot of goblins and knights.
-Topic Discussion: How many axes in total are hanging on the walls throughout Cloud Castle? On some walls there are two axes crossed over - they do count as 2 axes. There is only a correct or incorrect answer. PM your answer to me so not to give it away to anyone else.
-Awesome Point winnings: Correct answers receive 5APs. Incorrect answers receive 1AP.
Videos
Goblin Gore

part 6 - Sky Dive
This is the final part of Cloud Castle... in this part we will kill the final boos and complete Cloud Castle 1!
Videos
Sky Dive

----------------------------------------------
Awesome Point standings:
Skull coming 1st with 11APs
Quiztis coming 2nd with 9APs
Marpro and Mrgantoe tied at 3rd with 3APs
Kyle, LeopoldDon and Shevek tied at 4th with 2APs
Exdeathevn coming 5th with 1AP

In the case of a draw, another AP discussion that may or may not be related to the current Dmod will be opened, in which the two people have to answer and a winner will then be decided. If one chooses not to answer, the other automatically wins.

The real reason for the guard is oviously that one, sunny day, he was excited about a cosplay event happening that evening, so he ordered a blue armor, so he could go there as well. Once he had the armor on, he found it too heavy and couldn't move from the gate.

In other unrelated news: A knight dies after 2 months of dehydration, and becomes an annoying zombie blocking a gate in a D-Mod.

The Blue Guard is part of the secret organization of stalkers that stalk the streets of town, in search of a worthy victim to stalk in order to satisfy their stalker fetish. Now the Blue Guard is extremely picky in choosing their stalker victims, but obviously Dink is worthy on the basis of his clothing alone, not to mention his quirky character that is prone to do the weirdest things with the weirdest of people... And at that point in time, the Blue Guard was thinking: "You'll never be alone again Dink Smallwood. We'll be WATCHING."

I love your work keeping DinkSmallwoodPT awesome, Rob.

The blue guard is obviously (lol) highly trained in the arts of NMAM-WSOOL "Enmam Wesool" (Never Move A Muscle While Standing On One Leg). A popular physical activity in the world of Dink. The blue guard is not a novice, oh no, he's been training for a long time to get his blue armor. The ranking system are as follows:

Padawan: Armorless
Novice: yellow/gold armor
Advanced: Blue armor
Master Statue: Red armor.

The blue guard is thinking about flamingoes. As they stand on one leg and are somewhat solidly fixed in place(?). Dink's round muscular butt and green tights is ruining his flamingo-concentration though. Oh, and his name is Tom btw.

nice that you got revenge twice on that bonca serves it right for killing you.

That Bonca is over-sized due to eating too much mushrooms as an upside it became tougher for meelee fighters but a bigger target for ranged fighters like wizards. one other upside it gave that monstrosity is dead isn't permanent for it well depending on how you look that is because Dink will kill it over and over and over(well i think you get the point now)

The once proud and magnificent Yeti King, previous owner of Cloud Castle, was one day visited by a man calling himself Xu of the Ren people.
Xu, appearing to be an extremist supporter of the Yeti King's rule, offered to the Yeti King a potion and a scroll, explaining that the uttering of the words on the scroll would enchant the potion, allowing it to give him the one thing he most desired but was lost in the days of old, when the Yeti King fought the Goblins for control of the castle; His tail back.

The Yeti King was grateful and offered Xu a free night in the lodgings section of the Castle as a guest. That night, the Yeti King cast the spell upon the potion and drank every last drop.
He then toppled unconscious to the floor.

The Yeti King woke up... but no, this isn't right... I'm not a Yeti any more? But I have a Tail and I'm brown... yet my arms are gone! Hey! Man with green pants, where am I?

Meanwhile, Xu of the Ren people, as his false name is, began to unfold his plan.

The boncas in Dink's world have a very special digestive system. They perform nuclear fusion and turn their food into gold. They use this gold in their skin, to become extra tough (similar to a steelskin potion, but with gold instead of steel). This is the reason that when they do get killed, they leave a pile of gold in addition to a corpse. This effect made them popular targets for hunters, and that is not what the bonca's wanted. So they have evolved a defense system which destroys the gold when they die. A side-effect of this system is that their still living heart often remains, though. Since this is very healthy to eat, it is also popular, and so the tactic failed miserably.

This particular bonca is the only one that has survived the hunt on its species. The reason is that it spent its life eating to get more gold in its skin, and training to become stronger. That's why it's so big, tough and hard to kill.

The huge bonca names Barg was raised like any other bonca in a loving family within a bonca tribe, but this one had an eating disorder. He ate everything including ducks, barrels, farmers, you name it. He went too far when he tried to eat the bonca high-chief's feather hat and he got banished from the tribe. He lived as an outcast for years, eating what Earth had to offer and worked out everyday to get large. Until one day when a guy who loves violence came and punched him dead.

The Bonca was apart of Seths legendary special forces. This Bonca called Bulk by his former team members decided to ditch Seth after his sixteenth decline in power in HH2. After that the Bonca decided it be best to go were Seth wouldn't look near Dink. This Bonca went every were dink went. On one of the adventures though the Boncas life was changed forever. He was stalking dink on his journey for the shards of the stone of balance. That's when he saw it the greatest farm animal of all The Giant Pig. Bulk was facinated by this creature and began his research. Bulks studys brought him far and wide away from the safety of dink until he found it in a library in a town he had hid by during dinks journey through something later told in the ballad as good as eternity the necromonican. In it told the story of the green mushrooms of obesity. Bulk imidiatly searched for them. After years of searching he found a grove of mushrooms by a forest and ate all of the green ones he found. He decided he was safe from Seth now and settled down by a river soon people settled down in the forest a camp grew into a city and soon even the great dink Smallwood became governor of the town.

The answers to the topic discussion in the last part were awesome, it was hard to choose and they were very close.
As for my example answer to the topic discussion of the current part, because I didn't give one, I will write it below.
The topic discussion is: "In this part you will notice I purchased a skull of a legendary goblin that led his people to rebellion over 1000 years ago. Write a short story, or just an idea on this goblin."

Example answer: The goblins name is Trog... he is a great ancestor of Mog, the two-headed goblin that Dink killed in the goblin sanctuary in Kernsin. Trog was responsible for building up the courage in his people to rebel against the humans, and he inspired the goblin war. Trog had a secret underground tunnel planned, and built, which would gain them easy access to the castle, so the invasion could take place. Even though Trog was a two-headed goblin, and was amongst the noblest, and most physically fit of his race, he was killed by a bowman one day while walking the shores... a mysterious green man came out from a staircase beneath a tree, and managed to spear both of Trogs heads in one shot with his bow. This human was clearly a master of the bow, and showed technique which is only learned through the secret of bow lore.
The Goblin war had commenced, and the invasion was so well planned, they were not detected. However without the guidance of Trog, the goblin race was pushed back, overpowered and eventually crushed. Trog was remembered by the goblin race as a great hero, and his son was appointed leader because of his great and noble deeds to his people.

Great! CC3 is released. Oh wait, it's CC1 part 3. Ah well, let's keep waiting then.

About the skull:

As can clearly be seen, the skull is not actually from a goblin, and not 1000 years old. The shopkeeper is an idiot who believes everything they tell him. In fact, it is the skull from Milder Flatstomp (which means it is quite precious anyway). For Dink, this is no problem; the portal key most be the skull of a hero, and that it is.

nice part and well here is my short on the skull

The skull was of the goblin Torg who led both humans and goblins against his own kind to stop the great goblin war which he knew wasn't a true war but a lie war. He didn't want to but he had no choice because it was the only way to make the leader of the goblins Marg(the great great grandfather of Mog) listen. after finally being able to reach Marg. when so he presented the proof he had. after the proof was evaluated Marg demoted his captain to slave and a new hero was born. his title was short lived though because the now slave was pisses because his little scheme was foiled so he poisoned Torg. it was soon uncovered which sentenced him to death but the story of Torg lived on so the vengeance of the former captain was super sour. as you can see the storekeeper got it wrong it wasn't against but with the humans
feel free to name the captain yourself as i couldn't think of one just yet(keep in mind the captain is a goblin(well was as he was executed))

My guess about the skull:

The goblin Trog was a fearsome goblin warrior, whose main interest in life where, war, devise evil plans, and collecting warhammers. His son, Pog, on the other hand was a complete failure by goblin standards.

Already at early age there was no doubt that Pog shared none of his fathers interest. But Pog was the only heir, and inherited the territories when Trog passed away.

Pog squandered his inheritance, spent tremendous amounts of money on various love interest. Low on and cash and desperate for love, he considers the to sell the skull of his father, which he always carry around (because it brings luck, according to goblin beliefs), and so it became that the skull of the great warrior Trog got lost.

Prog died 45 years old, killed and eaten by a mermaid.

Well, let me tell you about my dear friend, named Skull. Well, in fact his name was Skull Y and my name is Skull B. Anyway, once there was a great Goblin Warrior living in the Goblin Land as great as he, himself was. The Goblin had survived many battles including the Goblin War of GoodHeart and World War -7. He was a well-respected leader of his tribe. However, there was one battle so devastating, that even he couldn't prepare for it...

One rainy day the Evil Teddy Bears of Doom attacked the Great Goblin's tribe. Nobody was prepared for this devastating attack from the sinister Teddies! Neither was nobody prepared for them to bring out their Ultimate Doomsday Weapon: The Teddy Bear n00b cannon! With this gun the Teddies destroyed all of the Goblins, and nothing but the leader's skull was left behind.

For long, this skull, now known as Skull Y had to live with rabbits underground of the mighty Pyjama Banana land. Finally one day, MacGyver found Skull Y and sold it to the shopkeeper, who still holds Skull Y to this day.

The End.

The skull is actually the last remnants of what was once a mighty tribe of Goblins, settled under the mighty mountain ranges. Then came the humans. The greedy humans did not care for the Goblin tribes and began to strain them further by each passing day. Some Goblins rose up in rebellion towards this overpowered enemy - but they were soon silenced... for good.

Threatened by elimination, the tribe begun a grand exodus. The Goblins swore to return and avenge their fallen brethren....

Without question a fat, laid back, swell guy named King Borangutang appeared to claim the land for himself as he had already claimed Goodheart at that time. (yes, it's that old) Borangutang had, without question, the largest military force in the world according to himself and there was not much the goblins could do but give in to the king and help him build walls and stuff.

Garg was smart. He had planned for many years during their slavery on how to throw the king off the throne and reclaim the land. The goblin stole jars from the supply daily and always took the beany-alternative for supper just so they could fart in the jars afterwards. This was not just for fun as it was all of Gargs plan, to build up volatile gas in the jars, throw 'em at the guards and set the gas off for an explosive finish, thus the first grenade was born and the same technique was used for many centuries afterwards.

The goblin tribe defeated the greedy king and his military force. Sadly, Garg was blown to smithereens in the battle.

Next part added, AP standings updated and new topic discussion activated.

Topic Disucssion: Why did Monkeynuts' parents call him "Monkeynuts"? What inspired them to call him that?

Example answer: When Monkeynuts was born, his parents were on crack, which was supplied by Mr. Smilestein, so the world around them was distorted because they were hallucinating and seeing some unicorns, rainbows, and giant vicous beavers. The weirdest hallucination of all was... that's right.. monkey nuts, everywhere they looked, to the point that they thought their own son resembled monkey nuts... so that's what they decided to call him.

liked the part and well have fun slaughtering the enemis in the later parts.

and now for my AP answer
Monkeynuts isn't the name of the fairy but a nickname he prefers over his real name. He earned it showing how interested he was in torturing monkey's more specifically Homo-sapiens especially in a certain area. after years of going nuts with the torture he went insane or as some said "monkeynuts" and thus he used it as a nickname since.(later you will see just how nuts the guy is)

About ducking time you uploaded the next part. And now for my answer:

Obviously, Monkeynuts was a monkey at first! A male monkey, with nuts. He enjoyed his monkey childhood in the trees and feasting on all the bananas. Now, unlike other monkeys, he got kinda tired with all the monkey business. He didn't want to be monkey anymore, but he wanted to be something more exciting. So he called upon the great monkey gods at the monkey shrine of dung and bananas to make him something he would enjoy his life with.

The monkey gods were furious with him, of course. Who doesn't want to be monkey? The monkey gods thought of the most un-monkey-like creature they could think of, which led to a faerie. Faeries were all clean, sparkly, tiny, have wings, and don't like the activity of dung throwing. Seemed like the perfect punishment! Monkeynuts turned into one of these faeries and was horrified by what his prayers have led to. Thankfully, the gods allowed him to retain one monkey like part, his nuts. After meeting other faeries, he was soon nicknamed Monkeynuts and immediately clothed.

Well, one time before Monkeynuts was even born, her parents were going to get some AlkTree nuts. Unfortunately, a monkey had eaten all the nuts, leaving none for the fairies. Monkeynuts' parents were so mad, they killed the monkey. The other monkeys then cursed Monkeynuts' parents to revenge. This curse made it so Monkeynuts' parents could only think about this incident. So they couldn't think of any other name for their child than... Monkeynuts.

This was a very long time ago, but I actually balanced the boss difficulty based on feedback from the Dink Network. I posted a thread asking just how hard people liked their bosses to be, and to paraphrase the response, the DN said "so murderously hard they'll kill you twice before the game even starts". Of course, redink1 was the sane one who said "uh, no thanks, if a boss takes me more than 3 attempts I'm going to fire up the ultimate cheat", and in hindsight I definitely wish I had listened to him instead! Also, IIRC Unholy Power was slower, and therefore much easier, on the PC CC was made on. I think I nerfed it with the patch, but you really need to get out of the way when it rolls around!

It's interesting to see someone play something you've made, because you get a much better idea of how people actually respond to the scenario. I never really expected anyone to grind the bonca, for example - it was there to provide a little extra gold if you ran short, but I was surprised to see it used multiple times. The potions were largely intended as tools to make a boss you were struggling with much easier, so it was interesting to see two of them saved for just the last boss (and the best one used to kill the bonca!)

Well, I'd do a lot of things differently these days, that's for sure. I'm tempted to go back in and fix the crash bug you mentioned, and possibly re-introduce the unlimited berserk potion bug in a less exploitative way (maybe have the price escalate for each potion, or make it so you can only have one at a time). I'm wary of interfering with it too much, but if people are playing the module it'd be better for it to work more smoothly.

I'm fine with murderous difficulty when the challenge can be overcome by getting better at the game, increasing my own skill as a player as opposed to grinding for stats But in Dink, it's very difficult to do this without changing the battle system or weapon/spell functionality. So, it's safer and more reasonable to err on the side of beatable bosses and rely on the story and world to propel the player's desire to keep playing despite the perceived lack of challenge

Btw, lovely to see you still lurk and post here Arik, even though it was probably just because of the LP

I don't actually remember that the bosses were so insanely hard. But then I always put most of my powers on defense, and everything becomes a lot less scary from that. It takes a bit longer to finish them off with lower attack, but most of them aren't hard at all. Not sure if this was true here, I played it long ago. But I don't remember having much trouble with them.
