This was a very long time ago, but I actually balanced the boss difficulty based on feedback from the Dink Network. I posted a thread asking just how hard people liked their bosses to be, and to paraphrase the response, the DN said "so murderously hard they'll kill you twice before the game even starts". Of course, redink1 was the sane one who said "uh, no thanks, if a boss takes me more than 3 attempts I'm going to fire up the ultimate cheat", and in hindsight I definitely wish I had listened to him instead! Also, IIRC Unholy Power was slower, and therefore much easier, on the PC CC was made on. I think I nerfed it with the patch, but you really need to get out of the way when it rolls around!

It's interesting to see someone play something you've made, because you get a much better idea of how people actually respond to the scenario. I never really expected anyone to grind the bonca, for example - it was there to provide a little extra gold if you ran short, but I was surprised to see it used multiple times. The potions were largely intended as tools to make a boss you were struggling with much easier, so it was interesting to see two of them saved for just the last boss (and the best one used to kill the bonca!)

Well, I'd do a lot of things differently these days, that's for sure. I'm tempted to go back in and fix the crash bug you mentioned, and possibly re-introduce the unlimited berserk potion bug in a less exploitative way (maybe have the price escalate for each potion, or make it so you can only have one at a time). I'm wary of interfering with it too much, but if people are playing the module it'd be better for it to work more smoothly.
