The Time Traveller Development Thread
After many months of work, I've finally reached about half way in my first real D-Mod, The Time Traveller. This D-Mod has received loads of inspiration from... you guessed it... Doctor Who. Yes, my favourite television show. In this D-Mod, Dink meets a man who calls himself The Time Traveller. He warns Dink that in the future, the evil Verimos has built an army of Destructabots. As the name implies, these bots are super destructive. They are also the bots that Verimos used to destroy Time Traveller's home planet, along with all his people, the Space Gods. After much persuasion, Time Traveller takes Dink to his TAST (Time and Space Travel) which is a not-so-large barrel (thanks to DaVince for the graphics ).
Dink must travel throughout New Earth and underground, to eventually come face-to-face with Verimos himself. Unfortunately, I haven't got that far yet. In fact, I'm about half finished, and that's why I decided to finally post some screenshots!

Yeah, attack = 1000. But that's just for testing purposes.
So, comment away!

Oh, and one more thing:
The cross in the church was made by me!

You mean the Time Traveller? Nah, he's not a new graphic, just the red guy.
Thanks! With luck, I'll get this one finished.
Before Dink enters Verimos' castle, me must travel through a series of caves (different cave tiles each level, made by redink1). I've practically finished the first level, having to only add screenlocks and very small details. Another thing, each cave level will have a boss. The boss must be defeated before you can descend to the next level.
Am I gonna get any criticism? Is there anything anyone sees that is bad? Not good? Anything?
Or, does anyone else like my idea? I mean, I want to know what you all think. Two opinions isn't what I want...

Looks like a nice idea, Dinkdude. Hopefully this one will get finished.
This will be an epic, right?

Hmm, I haven't thought about that. I don't know. I was actually aiming for a large romp, but I don't know. The multiple levels of caves might turn it into a quest, or even an epic. Who knows...
Go for the large romp, and polish it. A well-polished romp is better than a crude epic.

I think it's a good idea, too. Two suggestions:
1. Since your bad guys are going to be robots you could use the sprites from Mystery Island (red robot, ninja-bot) possibly in a modified form, as a prototype.
2. You could combine the futuristic time-travel element with something like druidic magic. Maybe Martridge can somehow sense distortions in time, or help create portals or something.
Just some thoughts. Good luck.

Ah, I like the second one. Yes, very good. But, maybe not for this D-Mod. If I make another Time Traveller D-Mod, maybe, but not this one.

Ah, right...
Anyway, I've come across some problems with screenlocking on the boss bit on the first level of caves. Problems, as in, I didn't. But it's nothing I can't handle.
Also, I've finished drawing the basic map for the second level of caves. I'm using Dan's red cave from Initiation. It's looking pretty good. Very good, in fact.

Progress has been very slow due to school assignments... and computer game addictions... but I've begun work on a small little puzzle that has something to do with walking over lights and turning them on and off. It's looking good so far with some new graphics I made, also.
Is this inspired by Doctor Who or just copied from it? A mysterious time traveller is fine but having his home planet along with his powerful people destroyed by an alien/robotic like race and a time travelling box type thing with an acronym name is a little, well, corny.
Just wondering, is there any specific doctor you are going from. I know they are all the same person but they do have fairly different personalities, especially the way they talk. The new series doctors are also very different from the old ones.
Personally I like Tom Baker the best, he's the 4th I think, the one with the curly hair and a long scarf.

It's not a copy, it's just... inspired from it. But apart from Mr T's life story, and his Time Travelling device, everything is different.
Because of the recent D-Mod contest, and my overwhelming want to win, the Time Traveller's production will be paused for about 2 months.
Now, I know you're all thinking "Oh no! The Time Traveller's production is going to be paused for 2 months! What am I going to do!?".
Well, I don't give a dang.

I sincerely doubt anyone else is panicking either.
You know, Tal, I thought Phoenix was the only member I could actually count on to cheer me up, but it looks like you have that amazing ability to cheer me up when I feel down also. I really love you, Tal.
What's with this fancy over me lately? Not that I mind the attention, but WTF? I'm never the center of attention. It must be a ploy.
dang, my cover's blown!
Quick! Run! Run for the hills!

Bruce Dickinson would like to have a word with you.
Probably because you stole his line.

Even before I read this thread I was thinking of Dr.Who and hoping that you would replace the warp graphics with phone booths!
