i am trying to play pilgrims quest after just discovering Dink
I had a great time and am dying to play others. I unzipped the files in to relevant named folders in the dink directory
it says I can play using a front end but the links

and

are not working.. can someone please save this poor girl from her boredom and help me out!

Dink front end is the DinkFrontEnd.exe file in the dink folder. Those things you tried to download are other frontends, but you don't need them.

Don't download too much DMods though. DinkFrontEnd will give some error, and the screen will pop-up with no DMods in the list.

Download as much D-Mods as you want. The error magicman is talking about is when you have 50 or more D-Mods in your Dink Smallwood folder. Then the DinkFrontEnd can't display the list or something like that. Here's what you then need to do: make some D-Mods folders hidden. DinkFrontEnd then won't count them and thus you can still use DinkFrontEnd. Just make sure the number of visible folders is below 50 and you'll be fine.

download Playthis from Paul Pliska. that frontend is way better than the Dinkfrontend

Actually, I use CustomFE, but almost any frontend is better than the dinkfrontend

Id post more in here but i don't know anything about developing games even though i am interested and read through the files.

not dinkrun well if you see at the score then it doesnt look very good. that is a dos based Frontend, but i think it can run more D-Mods then the Dinkfrontend.

just out of curiousity this is the first I have ever heard of Dmods etc when I found Dink. What is the technical definition. Is this used for other games? Sorry for the rather inane questions.

"D-Mod" is short for "Dink module," so this is almost certainly the only place you'll be hearing it used.

And hey, I have more talents than illusivefing. And I'm a year older. The choice is obvious

So then it is a module based on the original game?

Not really, it is more a module that runs on the Dink Engine as there are plenty of D-MODS that have absolutely no relation to the original story.
