DE trouble

Since i have to save myself with DinkEdit instead of WinDinkEdit I have two questions

1) Can you make a sprite invisible (without changing the vision) like in WDE?

2) in Tile mode: I can't seem to find the key for the path tiles. I can find all of them, except that one.

You can set the sprite invisible setting it's type to 2. However, I forgot the key for the type

And the path tiles, press ` (tilde, the key that's left of the 1/! key)

EDIT: Now guess what. I just checked it out, and it happens that the key used to set the type is also 2. What a coïncidence

It indeed is , It's nice to see the other screens while dinking and also handy that you could set up a sprite database so that you won't have to set it's type and other things all the time. You don't have to switch for script editing. It starts much faster...

But, it crashes sometimes with sprite selecting

SU, that's not true. Where dinkedit is über, windinkedit is just a silly editor... long live dinkedit!

Dinkedit is so hard to use when if you are familiar with windinkedit

Vowels shouldn't have little dotty things above them - it's just weird.

And for me, neither one is hard to use; they're just different. Also that text that tells you what buttons to press...

Both is true. When WDE first came out, I hated the interface due to the fact, I am a creature of habit. But after using WDE for a bit, I have found it very hard to use DE in any point.

I think WDE is better than DE. Why because WDE is W! BUT there is still little i-dont-like in WDE, for example, when you resize a sprite, it leaves white whateveris around it. And i think that the map looks too small in WDE.

There is one aspect where I find DE to be better than WDE -- placing sprites very exactly at spots. Either I haven't discovered how you do it in WDE, or it's impossible, but in DE you can use the arrows while holding control to move the sprite one coordinate at a time. Excellent for accuracy.

If you know the exact coordinates in WDE, you can put a sprite on a random place, and set the x and y in its properties.

One thing that you all seem to be unaware of, though...

Is that she can't use WinDinkedit.

But I thought that if WDE doesn't work you just could use the old version?

Yeah, and I thought I could try and fix it with the hel pof a few nameless beta testers who just had to RUN THE dang PROGRAM and SEE IF IT WORKED.

But, yeah, thats what you get for thinking.

Legolas, I know for a fact that your post previously said only "It indeed is ". A few of us Dinkers, WC especially, have noticed that very many of your posts contribute very little if anything to the board, but that does not mean you should change posts you've already made without making it clear that you've edited them. Example:

It indeed is

EDIT: It's nice to see
blah blah so on and so on.

I am of the opinion that you should make your posts a bit more worthwhile, but this is advice you should apply to future posts. Editing old posts to make other people look stupid or incorrect is not something I would advise doing, as Morpheus once lost his ability to modify posts due to "correcting" any flaws in his arguments shortly after they were pointed out and not informing anyone of the edits.

To sum all this up:

Do not abuse your privileges.

Thanks.

"WC especially" nice. Just because I was the only one to put old boy on blast I get pointed out. Nice.

Tal: ok, I understand. I've done wrong...
WC: I've also said I wouldn't mind trying it if that means starting it up, edit your dmod a bit to check the functions and shut it down. So, If that is everything I should do, you could send a copy to webmaster@llusg.tk. You may hate me, but I'm active...

Thanks magicman!
I was used to work with WDE, but now I've changed win98 for winxp, and I'm sure thats not the only reason why its not working, I couldn't find all the commands I needed immediatly. But once you get used to it, it works just fine

I didn't understand why WC told legolas he was posting very short post, because this one was fine in length. But when Tal says it had been edited, I do understand

WinDinkEdit pisses me off, but I've never given it more than a cursory glance. I just find DinkEdit so much more... homely.

And don't even get me started on Morpheus... grrrr.
