About the 3D models
Dink Smallwood Original 3ds Max Models
So... we got the 3D models. But beyond experiments, no one has done any big things with them. I'm starting to think: Why exactly did we wanted when we asked for a release? I mostly thought sprite improvements, but it was pointed out they could be used for new content like customised weapons for Dink. That would be cool too. I'm curious - what was your reason for wanting (or not wanting) them?
As I believe Seth himself has said, they're quite a mess and someone needs to port them to a more modern / usable format (not quite the words he used but you get what I mean)... Unfortunately, there doesn't seem anyone up to the task right now.
What I would want with them, is new enemy / prop sprites from the unused models, and new Dink weapon animations. Maybe some other stuff too, I think RobJ mentioned swimming a while back?

those who can are around and active. just a matter of when they're ready to bring dink into the 6th dimension.
So far, i've been re-rendering various animations at different sizes and frame intervals to see what they look like in-game. Here's a small demo in case you're interested. Anything big from anyone is going to take ages though. It's not a simple matter of hitting "render" and assuming everything will come out looking instantly improved. Most of the Max scenes aren't set up so that the end product is interoperable with the existing frames either, and a fair amount of post-processing has to be done in order for them to slot in.
I was interested in them for the purpose of remastering the game, and had been in the process of making a simple engine that ran at 1280x960 with upscaled graphics, and now can use real ones!

Sorry, I guess I'm uneducated about this stuff. Did not think about how much time it could take.
@yeoldtoast
Sounds cool. Will check it once I get home.
Edit: That fireplace looks great!

Woah, the animations look freaky! The potions and hearts look way too smooth for Dink haha! Dink's idle scale seems all wrong, but I like the fire though!

They came too late. These should've been released 10 or 20 years ago.
