Someone to finally finish it?

Back from the Grave

Well,

It's been centuries since I've been here, folks! How are we all doing, new comers and veterans alike? Group hugs, everyone! *inserts here non-existent emoticon of two or more smiley faces hugging each other*

I remembered, back in the days, this was the very first D-Mod that I played. (Though not the first I downloaded xD) From the best of my memories, it was cut short due to the almost-completed project having been destroyed in the brimstones of a failed hard-drive; we're now (and have been for 14 years) left with this shortened demo version which Striker was somehow able to retrieve.
It was extremely hard for striker, considering that he has put so much arduous effort into creating "Back to the Grave"; there won't ever be a full version because of this understandable deep disappointment. All the fans have been disappointed too.

I want to ask the rest of this dink community: how do you guys feel about the idea of Striker/whoever picking up on the project again and finally finishing the darn thing? I'm sympathetic to his (and our) disappointment and discouragement, but I think that, after 14 years, there's been enough of a healing time-lapse for Striker/whoever to do so.

I'm one of those people where, if there's something that seems to have an incomplete ending, I would love to see that a definite ending be created, somehow some time; doesn't matter when.

Let's talk about it, folks.

Striker has returned for a bit, though I'm sure he's quite busy nowadays(being a grown up and all).

We veterans have gotten pretty old, haven't we?

I'm still taken care of good little Caleb as I've been for several of years ( ), but I myself have gone onto TheSims4 now, only stopping by here every now and then.

p. s. Thank you for your review on my first MIDI package. It means much that someone has taken the time to do that, since no one else has.

Please Cindy, say the whole name each time.
I used one of your MIDIs in my very recent DMOD "Malachi the Jerk."

Hi from another veteran. I'm almost thirty, my God.

Ugh. Being a grownup sucks. Someone needs to invent a de-ager.

You feed the madness, and it feeds on you.
The human race forever seeks eternal youth, but each year we celebrate getting older...

That logic.

Daniel, there are clowns.
Maybe we're just celebrating another year of survival rather than just getting older?

As far as BFTG goes, yeah... real life did get in the way, both in ways of time and also in realizing that I was no longer trapped at home and could essentially go and do anything I wanted to do. Creating games and stories was motivated by a need to escape from a seriously unhappy childhood. The realization that I could now physically leave, rather than just mentally, swiftly threw my creative desire under the wheels of my very real getaway car.

My life since then, whether I realized it or not, has been about creating a place for myself in the physical world and I feel like I'm only just now starting to hit my stride. I kept trying to create stuff and even went back to BFTG (and a spinoff game related to it) a few times, but could never really stick with it. I guess there was still too much real life I needed to experience.

I'm sure I'll get back to writing and making games at some point, but when that is, I don't know. Maybe once I'm feeling satisfied with the rest of my life. I know I'm a lot further along that path than I was when I picked up Sphinx's game and just ran off the deep end with it 13 years ago.

Is the game at least open to those who want to finish it, maybe a hero {excluding Dink} who wants to make DN history by slaying this awful burden {Not Pred}.

Anyone could pick an incomplete project up and finish it anytime, DackFight. On the other hand, BTtG is specifically Sphinx's and Striker's creation: it was made from their specific talents, ideas and wit. Unless you have a personality so similar to his and are on almost the exact same wavelength as theirs to recreate this DMOD in just the way they would, it just wouldn't be the same.

Striker, I'm absolutely happy that you have found an awesome place in your life at the moment and that you are currently pursuing it. While it's disappointing that you're not finishing this DMOD (anytime soon), life is rather short to not experience what you choose to. As I was told when I was a little girl, "Follow your heart, and follow the sun."

What the future holds for BTtG, no one really knows. Maybe one day I and fellow BTtG fans will get to see a completed project, but your dreams and aspirations come first for you, and I respect that.

Thanks for at least attempting a few times to finish it. Something like this epic DMOD really does require a lot of attention and commitment; even if it is just a game.

Couldn't someone try their hand and present it to striker first to see if its good enough, and if not they get to feel his wrath.

I doubt anyone would actually want to do that.
