The "Partners" section
I don't know if it's just me, but two of the sites in the "Partners" -section seem to have disappeared. Did Dan remove them while he was fixing the recent forum issue?
Yep; Dinktionary and the Dink Fanlisting both appeared to be down.
Don't suppose the DSPT channel would be worthy of having a slot?

Can you please fix the link to DinkSolutions so that it's: http://solutions.ultraprison.net/wiki/Main_Page
Or change the DNS entry?
I think Beuc still has it as a CNAME in his DNS listing to point to mine.

Updated link to the Dink Solutions.
Added DSPT (not sure what it stands for?) and GNU FreeDink.

This is great! People've been complaining about the Partners -section being outdated, for the past 5 years or so. Thanks for updating it. It's finally up to date.
DSPT = Dink Smallwood Playthroughs & Tutorials.

Any other things you'd be willing to change? Like some extra tools for the moderators? We sometimes get flooded with spam or have to deal with people who could use some time off, a (temp) ban/suspend feature would be nice.
Also, poor Shevek, a valued member of our community, is stuck as a ghost account. He has been asking for an account with the name Shevek for a long time now, would be awesome for the guy if he could get it.

What Kyle said. We really don't have any order in this place, as of recent. It would be nice if the staff members would have some more powers. Maybe a banning power, and the ability to give other people (peasants) some more powers, in certain situations?
And I also agree about the Shevek situation. He is such a respected member, it is a shame he is not able to get an account.

Speaking from my perspective as a moderator elsewhere, and based on all that I've heard, the staff needs a warning system. Someone does something, they warn that person. First is verbal warning, then they can allot points to those people. When those people reach a specific amount of points, they get a detriment, such as being unable to post, or create a topic, be banned for a short while. Let's say 100 points is the maximum, and the maximum equals a permanent ban.
Another feature would be for normal members. A 'report' button of sorts so that if someone is breaking the rules, or is doing something that is impacting a member negatively, the member can click report and have a staff member deal with it.
You could also set it to where members can block/unblock PMs so that they won't be used again, or allow them to delete it. This can save time the Staff could use elsewhere and prevent frustration. (I know full well how annoying it was when Skorn spammed my PM and Scratcher, being the awesome guy he is, helped me in removing them.)
Another thing, completely optional, is a 'reputation' system where someone can add or subtract a reputation point from a person's post to indicate that they liked it or found it helpful. The total of a person's reputation would be shown on their profile to give people an indication of how well that person is respected on the forum.
That's all the ideas I have for now, and those ideas are from the forum I moderate or seem to me like common sense. If I have any other ideas, I'll share them.

Does an account with the name 'Shevek' already exist? Does he want to rename an existing account?
What happened was that he registered, but the activation e-mail was never sent.

I used wijnen@debian.org to register it, but I think this site looks like spam to the Debian servers, so they don't let the activation mail through. If you can set it to shevek@fmf.nl (so I can use "forgot password), or just remove it so I can register with that address, or tell me the password, or change the password and tell it to me, or use any other way to give me access, that would be awesome.

I would just like to say a heartfelt thankyou for adding the DinkSmallwoodPT channel to the partners list, by sacrificing you to the Dead Dragon Carcass in a ritual designed to create a Voodoo Doll of the mighty Tal, that we may reign him in.
Also, I'll make sure Robj doesn't steal any of your cookies for the foreseeable future.
Thankyou very much!

Thanks for doing this stuff for the site, redink1. We appreciate it.

Thank you redink. If you're still there can you plz also change your DNS entry for "solutions.dinknetwork.com" so that it's a CNAME for "sols.ultraprison.net"? Currently it's still querying Beuc's DNS which is probably annoying for him.
Great
Another possibility for the partners list is the Dink Wiki, it would be nice if that got more love.

Perhaps for partners, the Dink Smallwood TvTropes page?
Nah, a reputation system always ends in trouble... A 'Thanks' button would be better.
Hey hey! Let's not bombard Redink with all these little requests here!
Sure, it would be cool to have all sorts of neat little buttons and systems, but let's focus on what's important and what we *really*, absolutely need here. We've had some serious troublemakers on this board over the last few years, who have many times made people sigh with the staff's inability to ban them, so it would be nice if at least one of them was given a banning power. I'm pretty sure Scratcher even mentioned this somewhere. The poor fella', at one point, had to close and delete up to 40 spam threads a day.
To be honest, I don't know how simple it would practically be, but dethroning Tal and making someone else (such as Sparrowhawk or Scratcher) King, would perhaps be the best idea.

I think I'd quite like to have my own section on the site that nobody else can enter but me.
Please.
P.S. Hope life is treating you well, Dan.
EDIT: Ooh, I can do the above request by sending a message to myself. Sorted.

Shevek, I've reset your e-mail address, and you should have received an e-mail with a link to set your password.
Please let me know if you still don't receive it.
I could also associate your previous 'Ghost' postings with your account - do you know if anyone ever tried to impersonate you? I wouldn't want someone else's posts from months ago to start looking legit.

Just once, and that was pretty obvious.
I think the main thing which should be linked to me is my DMod "Karel ende Elegast". I think it's fine if the posts remain ghostly as a historical artifact.

Shevek!! Calling you out now man! You promised that once we got you a true account you'd work on your editor/scripter in earnest! That time has come!
In any case, congratulations^^

Kyle on the assault immediately lol.
Welcome to the world of the living, Shevek! It has been long waited!

Do you have proof of that, I don't remember saying it.
Then again, I'll do that anyway; I'm about to create a new DMod for the script war that's coming up, and I'm sure I'll be finding stuff I find annoying and want to fix again.

A 'thanks' button would work, which would be awesome.
@Sabretrout: Why would you need your own personal section of the site?
@Shevek: Congratulations, here's a two-liter of root beer. *Gives bottle*

I actually spent 20 minutes looking for that quote
What a waste of time since you're doing it anyway xD
But anyway, I couldn't find it. I could have sworn you said something along the lines of "I still have time to get this going at a higher pace since I don't have an account yet". Of course you meant it as a joke, I assume

Thanks for updating the DNS, redink. I'll stop bothering you now.

Because ego.

Yay, shevek, you have an account now!
Edit: Also I agree with Skull that banning is the most important change to make. Unfortunately it probably takes the most work. And I agree that passing Tal's role to one of the other staff would be good too, depending on what his powers actually are.

@yeoldetoast: I cleaned-up the Dink Solutions-related DNS records from beuc.net.

Tahnk you, Dan.

Now that Shevek has an account, it seems like all is well with the world.
