Official Dink Sequel
If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure Captain Robinson is actually working on another big project to do with Novashell. I suggest we wait for that before making any big plans such as this. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just saying that Seth's new project may turn out to be even more spectacular than Dink and a new Network for that may be created and we'll all jump ship. (The Novashell Network? )
You asked something similar to this before.
Please stop; We already answered you the first time.
Besides, no-one in your list would even want to assist with such a project when its already being worked on by Seth himself. They also have their own things to do.

OK, so we just wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. *5 years later* and wait. and wait. and wait.
I'd rather wait and enjoy the game when it is release, then have him rush it and produce a game that isn't anywhere near worthy as the sequel to Dink Smallwood.
He is making the sequel, be patient.
Seths jsut trying to avoid letting us down, he is not working on the sequel
What reason would he have to lie? If he didn't want to make Dink Smallwood 2, then he'd most likely just say "I'm not making Dink Smallwood 2", he wouldn't lie about it. Your post does not have any proof behind it, and is quite a stupid accusation - you're basically calling Seth a liar.
Please feel free to point out a time in the past when Seth has lied to us.. because I sure can't think of one.

People have been saying Dink is dying since a year after its release. By now I have confidence that will just never happen, sequel or not
When did Seth ever say he was making a sequel? Although I do believe he might have said it at some point, without me noticing. Anyway, I don't really care.
I don't think he really ever said that. To quote Seth: "I'm now working on a new 2D RPG tentatively called "GreenTree: The Lost Prince" and similarly to Dink, this engine will be open to making mods. It's not a Dink sequel but they'll certainly be some Dink related jokes and cameos in the game." That was October 2006, I don't know if anybody has any more recent information.
I don't care much for a sequel. I say just bring on v1.09 and fix the bugs and limitations.
There was a thread on Seth's forum, which mentions there is a possibility he might make one sometime in the future. Nothing about actually working on one, though.
Apparently he promised a sequel in the chat a few months ago. But I don't really care that much either, I would also prefer Dink version 1.09.
@DinkDoodler That post really wasn't intended to sound pissed off at you, I was just proving a point, that's all. Sorry if it came across the wrong way, lol.
(It's hard to accurately portray emotion through text, ya know?)

Not necessarily in that order (well except for the first).

Why is yeoldetoast always ready to scoff at everyone except Skorn? Cuz they're both idiots?
i see ur good at copying others rather than havin anyting orignal to say.
man i know yeoldetoast is harsh SOMETIMES but when he is, hes pretty darn funny.
Funnily enough zed's comment that was exactry the same, except he didn't use the word scoff.
I find it incredibly unlikely that you just happened to say EXACTLY the same thing including the abhorrent spelling mistakes.
maybe u should change your background to fire with a golden knight coz you say tha same stuff as him!
aha, or youre a duplicate account of zed's and have fooled everyone cept me!

ok... not funny...
In fact, according to the website, Novashell is mostly finished and if seems that it's open for modding already.
Quoting it:
"This project is in beta but the changes from here on out are expected to be minor. Data formats and such are not expected to change in a way that will break compatibility."
You can already download it at http://rtsoft.com/novashell/

It uses Lua instead of DinkC and it's more difficult to script. It does have a "Dink Style Game" built in though. I think it's a lot more difficult to use, but it does have far greater scope.
Surely Novashell was released years ago, as I remember playing a Dink-ish demo on it (a very basic demo)
Yeah... 2008 I think?

But far more useful than DinkC since many games uses Lua scripting.

It was first released in about 2006, but Seth is continually updating it, and he uses it for a lot of the games he develops nowadays.
I think many people have tried making a Dink sequel. I remember some English
bloke(the one who made Cloud castle) tried to make an engine called 'Windermere' or something. Ultimately all attempts lost steam somewhere along the line. The fact that this site after 13 years of the original Dink's release is still fairly active whereas games which were many times more popular in the late 90's have long been forgotten is a great achievement in itself.

Actually, I think it was Phoenix who was making the Windemere project, which hasn't died yet, as far as I know.
Windemere was actually a project of Merlin. The graphical assets were done by Ric.
"Some English bloke?"
I think we found a new tagline for you.

Too bad we don't have any English flags to be used in your profile.
Come to think of it, it's rather strange that we do have Welsh and Scottish flags but no English or Northern Irish...

So Sabre Trout and Skull rule the website these days. What happened to redink1 and his cronies Tal and Duke? Are they still around?
By the way, have any good DMods been released in the last 2-3 years that are worth playing? I now have four months of holidays ahead of me before I join college so I have finally started working on my Dmod whose demo I released five years ago. This time I have abundant free time, so I am feeling pretty confident of actually finishing creating one.

Great D-Mods? Lots of. Like my Historical Hero... THE FIRST EPIC D-MOD IN OVER 5 YEARS!! Erhm... yeah, feel free to check it out.
I don't run this site lol, Tal is the new king, although Redink has done much more for the website, in the past year or so.

If you are looking for a good dmod you should wait until the votes of the RRR are counted and play the winners dmod
Because there's a significant chance that it will be your DMOD?
Well... Hopefully
Seriously though; you should play both, Historical Hero is a great dmod. I don't know if Three Amulets is, It's hard to judge your own dmod the same way as I only think about the fun I had making it when I hear the name, and the story is probably worse presented in the dmod than the one I have in my head... You know, things I forgot to add...

Sorry skull, I meant Striker when I mentioned the staff members in the previous post. I'll check out the two DMods you guys mentioned. Any chances of Necromancer or CC3 coming out any time soon or are the buried for good?
Well, CC3 is still being worked on, at least according to Sabre. Necromancer will probably come out tomorrow.
It's been four years since it being mentioned. I seriously doubt there's going to be a Dink Smallwood 2.

Amen to that! Take a look at this kick-tush list: Lua VGs ... Baldur's Gate guys, right there *drooling*! And if you're 21st century white-trash , World of Warcraft is too!
Now if that isn't reason enough to jump head-long into Lua-scripting, then maybe you should weel out those good ol' Bioware games.
