Well everybody wants to record some WIPs, d-mod gameplay etc. like i did but they doesn't know how. So here's the tutorial for SnagIt 8.

1.Start SnagIt 8.Press on the blue arrow behind the red button and select Video Capture.

2.At Basic Capture select the Fixed Region Profile or WindowI Preffer Fixed Region).

3.Now select Output and File.. then select Propeties..

4. Select Video setup.. and when Microsoft VIdeo 1 is selected write at:
-Compression quality 100
-Key Frame 100
Press ok and leave.

5.Now select Input and Propeties... then write Width: 640 Heigh: 480(Dink's default resolution at Windowed).

6. Now select Tools -> Program Preferences... at Hot Keys set hot keys for Start/Stop recording.

7. Press the microphone to allow recording sounds.

Before you record check if Stereo Mix isn't Muted or too low volume at Volume Regulation or something and play Dink at Windowed.

Compress your movie with XVid-Codec using VirtualDub program.

You are in fact correct. I am already able to do this without a tutorial. However, I just want to make Linux visible, and well, that is one way; by acting like a dumb forum n00b.

I'm not trying to denounce Linux - really, I'm not - but I sincerely doubt you'll find many converts on a low-population Dink Smallwood forum.

Of course. I doubt it myself. Nevertheless, there will be 0% chance of me persuading somebody if I don't try, while there is > 0% chance if I do try. Yeah?

I don't think if there's a SnagIt for Linux but there is DemoRecorder for this system.

Alternately, maintaining and experimenting with multiple operating systems under one roof may benefit general computing awareness and the ability to support anyone at any time. I hear it also prevents anal retention.

Not true. Although he dislikes Windows and thinks it's stupid, my two brothers often play video games, and as many are made for Windows, they require it to play. Just so you know, 5/8 computers in our household actually are Linux, so at least Linux outnumbers Windows.

If you're not supposed to install filters to protect your children, why are there tons of them around today? If you have a filter installed (DansGuardian in our case - very powerful and protective), it reduces the risk of your child even accidentally coming across porn of anything bad. If he/she gets a porn pop-up, and pop-ups are allowed for that website, it will most likely see the porn and block it (see as in text around it, image tag, other stuff).

Just because something is easy, doesn't make it right. Just because it's easy to censor the internet from your home computer, doesn't mean that's what you should do.

AdBlock Plus does the exact same thing, has a huge predefined list (well, several), and it's a Firefox extension... No need to install external programs if plugins available for your already present applications are available, but whatever.

I agree on the fact that Windows can be kept, mostly just for games though.

Well, ABP will block pop-ups, but not porn sites... so it's not entirely relevant.

I'm not going to protect my kinds from the stuff that I came across. I don't think porn is bad for kids to watch. I've had access to it since I was twelve, and whaddayaknow, I'm still a normal member of society. If porn didn't corrupt me then, it won't corrupt me now.

Yes, but do you play the video games that I, and my siblings play? i.e. KOTOR, KOTOR II, NBA Series, Dark Messiah, Jedi Knight Series etc.

All those games above, to my knowledge, are Windows-only.

I know about that, but I want version 1.08. I really would love Dink for Linux, but I much prefer v1.08. Also, I wouldn't be able to run Easy DinkC, which I use all the time for scripting, as the download here is Windows-only, I think. But, I'm certain you would give me a Linux version, O-Master-Of-All-Things-Unix. And what's worse, there's no WinDinkEdit for Linux. I use that all the time for mapping and stuff.

Look, I have been exposed to pornography before. And I probably am better off, like you. But, there are very young children in my family, who are far too young to be exposed to porn! Three of them, under 10! You have to agree.

My Father has talked to me about porn before, how it's bad, how I shouldn't look at it, and if I'm struggling with the problem, to go to him, blah blah blah. And I also know he's had 'The Talk' with my older brother as well. But I'm not sure my younger siblings are aware of these things. But, hey, it's probably better they don't know, until they're like, my age.

Pornography is but a single avenue into the darker side of the internet. You mention it as one of the horrible things out there, as one of the worst things out there. From what you know, it is. None of us know what you know, and you don't know what we know. You assumed that pornography what what Phoenix was talking about when he said nasty shoot. Do I like knowing about things that I do not speak of? No. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't know them. A person can go two ways, (or both). They can either get desensitized, or they can find perspective of what they see. Having someone assume that they know what you've been through can make it seem as if they are marginalizing what you've experienced, and that'd piss you off. It's quite easy to read what you posted, as you doing that to what phoenix said.

Hey, as long as we're rambling: before I hit puberty, I had absolutely no interest in porn, aside from it being taboo, it was no big deal. Once I did, it was the most fascinating thing in the world. I honestly think if porn is easily accessible, but yet not really thrown in the face of children, it's perfectly fine.

If it wasn't for the Internet and my parent's own ignorance of how to use filters and my ability to bypass their access password, my only source of information about sex would have been middle America's sorry-ass Abstinence-only education.

I've probably seen as much and maybe more than Phoenix, and just as... well, no, I'm certainly not normal... hell, I'm probably now somewhere past SimonK in terms of perversion (though his inherent sexlexia may put him ahead of me), but I was already pretty messed up before I got the Internet.

If people may recall, when I first began Frozen in Time it was all about sex and crap. So, one could assume from that the I actually liked porn at the time. But, now that I've grown in my Christian faith and such, I've realised that the stuff is wrong. Now, I don't give a crap. In fact, I think porn is boring. I'm serious, guys at school have showed me porn on their phones, all I've done was nod my head, grunt and walk away, while they all huddle over it and giggle.

Anyway, I respect that your faith puts a stopper on your search for nastiness, so I won't try to convince you to go looking or anything, but what you just said is kind of what I mean. You, even with having access, would probably not go looking for nasty stuff anymore, so you've made that choice, and probably one that your father would agree with. Though I don't think you would attribute your choice to his filters.

As for the small kids, it is very unlikely that they would come across the bad stuff in the first place, and to be perfectly honest, I'm going to sit around with my children when they are online until they become around 10-12 years old, after which I don't care what they come across, although I will inform them that they can come to me if they feel uncomfortable with something they come across. And I will tell them not to actively pursue something nasty, but you know, kids are kids, especially if I have boys, I'm pretty sure they won't avoid it, haha.

By the way, to be a bit on topic, I would recommend against using Xvid these days. It's getting old. A better choice would be to use H.264 and stuff it into a Matroska container.
