The most recent Download of the Month award was for July 2006. I didn't think it was quite that long ago...

My intention was to work on the new forum, files, and awards pages of the site around August-September of last year. So I stopped updating the awards because, heck, they'd be better in just a little bit.

And now... I was going to bring them back, and make them a little better (automatically opened and closed), but then we'd have to play 9 months of catchup. And it isn't like we're receiving a ton of files lately as it is.

So, unless there's a big objection, I think I'll officially retire the awards. It was a nice idea at the time, alas.

Awww does it really take that much time to do or don't you see the use of it? It's too bad that it stopped, it's always nice to see little cups in front of your files .

Maybe something informal on a quarterly or thirdly basis?

I agree with Erwin! It can't take that much. Anyway, I was never here in time for any awards. And my Dmod should be here in about two or three weeks. And a few of my friends have started making Dmods. I'm sure if we do a bit more advertising we could convince more people to join the DN and contribute Dmods and stuff.

Fine by me, as long as there's a Dmod Of The Year award.

I like the DOTM awards, but as Chrispy suggested, if it's too much of a hazzle, make it for each quarter, and keep the DOTYs

Well, DTOMs where dead anyway. And with the amount of new DMODs being released it's fine. But DOTYs should be kept.

It's OK for me that you remove it, it's not like it gonna make any difference anyway. And it's less work for you, of course

Why not a new type of DOTM? D-Mod of the months (like every six months)

But that's just DOTY/2... Or DO... Or something like that.

How about a "big award" yearly, with various categories...
He! I´ve been expected that my D-Mod receive an award since that i´ve created my account and now... you want that I just give up my dream!! That I end my fight to a good D-Mod!! (Oscar for dramatic actuation!! goes to CastMAn!!).
Don´t end the awards, just give more time...

That's still 10 or so years away! Most of us will be gone by then! We'll be done with gaming. I'll be a pro basketballer! (Well, hopefully a anyway.) And other people will have other stuff to do! No one will have time for Dink Smallwood! The craze will be over. It's a good idea, but maybe 10th or 15th anniversary for best dmod ever would be better. And if you cut out the Dmod Of The Month awards, maybe DOE2M? Or DOE3M? Dmod of Every 2nd or 3rd month? You gotta keep the Dmod of The Year award. Every one loves that! But at least DOTY/2!

Who judges and gives out the awards? Redink1? The staff? Everyone votes? Or is it just based on the review scores?

It's a log-in voting for DOTM's, and a log-in run-off voting for DOTY's with the top 5 in each category getting another log-in vote.

Hear hear. Odd to think it's the 10th Dink anniversary next year...
