Amsterdam
I plan to go there. With two friends to tag along, on 25.7.-28.7., i.e. I need to find a three-bed room for cheap before they're all gone
I know there are Dutch people around here, so any hints for nice cheap hostels that people would not have booked full already?

Nope, sorry. I'm don't know Amsterdam very well. Besides that, I'm not known with Dutch ho(s)tels altogether. I can provide you with a link that you might or might not find useful:
Hotels.nl. The site's in English, so that won't be a problem.
I don't have any experience with this site (other than a quick look), so you should also look further. There are bound to be links on there somewhere to the sites of individual hotels.
EDIT: Hotels.nl/amsterdam. List of hotels in Amsterdam.

Why not stay at a Dutch Dinker? I know they can't be trusted (since I am one), but it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
You'll accommodate me and my 2 friends for little money for 3 nights, and you live in Amsterdam? I'm willing to consider that offer
Any hints on what to see while we're there?

I used to live in Amsterdam. While the Dutch may have founded the town, they all left many years ago. There's only about 22 people left, and we had to tear down the grain elevator a couple years back. There are no hotels to speak of, but I'm sure someone would lend you a room.

Well, I don't live in Amsterdam (though it's less than 30 minutes traveling), but, considering the insane ammount of Dutch Dinkers around here, there must be at least one living in Amsterdam.
What to see? It depends on what you're interested in. There's a lot of museums in Amsterdam, as well as the well-known hookers neighbourhood, a lot of soft drugs stores, The Amsterdam Dungeon recently opened (a weird kind of creepy museum, I think it's pretty cool) and there's a lot of shopping to do. There's more, but I can't think of them at the top of my head.

Torture museum, yeah, I read about it. I suppose it's a must-see
Ah, yes, the Torture Museum. I forgot that one (The Amsterdam Dungeon is something else, if you were referring to that one). The Torture Museum was awesome, though you better not expect too much from it, it's very small and very... not spectacular. But I thought it was awesome.
Oh, those were two different things? cool, we'll try 'em both
Can't find a website for the Dungeon.. well, maybe better luck tomorrow and off to sleep for me for today.

I'd visit everywhere in the world if I could, but some of the more interesting spots are certainly European. I heard the Europeans travel alot within each others countrys. Nice going Sharp.
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Amsterdam's in the west part of the country.. and I live in the east part of the country. Last time I've been there must've been years ago.. and I visited some weird museum, ran by one dude who had painted the ceiling of his basement in all kinds of colours.. and he made some kind of cave of weird materials.. don't ask
Wow, wtf Christiaan. Why don't I know of these things in the city I've lived in my entire life?
Mmprobably because I don't go out much. But I think I heard my sister say a short while ago that a friend of hers works there.
I can't suggest much, because I'm not really an outgoing person. The place to start going out would probably the Leidseplein though, most main theaters, cafes, cinemas and stuff like that are around that place.

Ehh.. maybe where you're from but no hasj in Amsterdam (or I'm mistaken) as far as I know weed is legal and being smoked in Amsterdam. I've only been there twise and visited a museum called Nemo. It's more for kids but it was fun. (I'm not saying by that that I'm not a kid)
Legal hasj is bullshoot. Just smoking weed is allowed, though. There's even this story about a Russian who forgot his weed in a hotel room in Amsterdam, and he got it sent back to Russia confidentially (because it's illegal in Russia, w00t).
Also, coffeeshops (drugs stores or whatever) are not allowed to buy any other drug that the government doesn't sell, and that's only softdrugs anyway.
Oh, and Nemo is a science museum. It's pretty fun, though kids are the most visiting group there. Because you can actually do stuff in there, not just look.
EDIT: Bullshoot? wtf?

Pwnage by swearfilter.
Ehm.. hasj is softdrugs too, and it's just as legal as weed here. That is, they're both not legal. They're just not illegal (smoking it doesn't get you in trouble).
Been smoking too much weed to remember that "the 's' word" is filtered, perhaps?
No. I don't fudgeing swear much on this shootty forum.
Uh, what was I talking about?
...Anyway, to set things straight, I did not, nor ever will, touch weed. Well, maybe I will, but at least I wouldn't smoke it, or do something crazy like eating it.

Hehe, als Chrizum already said, Legal hasj is not bullshoot It's just as legal as weed here. (wow, and not only in Amsterdam, but the whole Netherlands! w00t ) You know what's also legal? Magic mushrooms.
But anyway, to get back to your question, Sharp
I don't really know a hotel ín Amsterdam, but think Chris and I wouldn't mind you and your friends sleeping over here for a while, for a small compensation. Our house is pretty big, and we have one spare room. That's not much, but with a few matrasses (maybe not ín the room, but we can try ), things should be fine (if you're not too picky).
From here, you can be in Amsterdam within the hour, including walking, bus, train etc. Does depend on the dates you go though. But it's an offer...
Oh, and you shouldn't be afraid of rats, since we have 3 pet rats in our house (in a cage though, but some people are still afraid of them then.. ) But they don't bite. That's a plus

Oh - thanks for the offer. I suppose I ought've been checking in a bit more often.
We made a reservation to a pretty nice and cheap hotel somewhere in the centre of the city (at least we hope that's in the centre).
As for the weed business, not going to say anything for me, but I'm thinking my traveling company's pretty much headed for Amsterdam for not-too-many-different-reasons

Its pretty cool lots of weed, and dutch ppl are really friendly!! Not endorsing drugs just mentioning thats a known fact about it lol! but yeah its pretty beautiful there and Europe in itself is not even a quarter the size of 2 provinces of canada so u could drive across nederland in like 3 hours? so u should try going to France and stuff while ur in europe have a road trip im going to France this summer its gonna be so sw33t but yeah have fun in Holland and bring us back souveniers. Or else.
He wasn't necessarily being insulting or haughty i.e. certain other Dinkers, just slightly ignorant.
edit: Point being made here is, hold the insults for those who deserve them

I didnt mean to be ignorant and I didnt mean to insult her I think that its actually super cool that theres lots of pot, its legal in my province of canada, BC and I have friends in us and stuff and they like woah man thats so cool! I wasnt saying they all on drugs I was just adding that second part because I didnt want redink or tal to ban me cus I was saying pot was cool and in usa its considered a really huge deal but I guess I could have used better words, and I didnt know she lived in europe how theh heck would I?! I love you tal *EDIT* ok yeah and if you WEREN'T talking about my comment, then please just disregard that whole thing. No really just disregard it.
I just noticed why your sentences areso hard to read. They're too long, put a dot in it every once in a while.
Tal is great, yes. I don't know how Amsterdam is compared to other places, because I've lived there all my life. Seems ok, though.

rp64 deserves at least one insult. If not for the ignorancy, then for the extremly annoying writing style.
Oh, and Tal? That's incorrect usage of "i.e.", to best of my knowledge.
EDIT: Hm, maybe not. It just seems you're missing a "like" after it.

Adding a 'like' would fix it... but then, he could've just scrapped the 'i.e.' and used a '(unlike...')'. But on topic, Amsterdam's a lovely place.
