I don't really know a hotel ín Amsterdam, but think Chris and I wouldn't mind you and your friends sleeping over here for a while, for a small compensation. Our house is pretty big, and we have one spare room. That's not much, but with a few matrasses (maybe not ín the room, but we can try 
), things should be fine (if you're not too picky).
From here, you can be in Amsterdam within the hour, including walking, bus, train etc. Does depend on the dates you go though. But it's an offer...
Oh, and you shouldn't be afraid of rats, since we have 3 pet rats in our house (in a cage though, but some people are still afraid of them then..
) But they don't bite. That's a plus
