I've easily finished it in about the span of two hours, possibly less.

I honestly wouldn´t know. For me, the challenge always is to visit every place there is and find every goodie.

And besides *bows head a litlle ashamed* I always forget what is what and where it is...

Dam n, I've been beaten. Well I mean beating it, doing all towns, going to Joppa Isle and Koak Isle. No Goblin castle...

I would be more impressed if someone finished the game without taking a single hit. In other words, set your hp to 1 point (re-set as nessesary), and try to win the game.

Let me clarify that I have beaten the game in two hours or less, reaching at least level 12, and finding all secrets. After playing out of boredom a few times and beta testing 1.08 over and over, I may know the game better than Seth does.

No one could possibly know the game better than Seth except possibly Redink1.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
False, quite a few gamers know a game (like FPS, RTS, RPG) better than the developers of that game (simply because they play it daily)

Mmmm, pizza.
Heh, if Seth knew his game all-through, why were there still hardness-bugs in the map of the 1.06 Dink?

I don't know if redink1 knows the main game that well (the engine is another story). It was Tal who played and played and played it again to find bugs to fix for 1.08.

Indeed. I've only played the main game two or three times, and I haven't played through it completely in quite a few years.

Well, Seth was probably too lazy to find and fix the bugs, and left it to whoever wanted to try to fix it. So I guess Tal does know the game better than anyone then...and Redink1 just said he doesn't know the game very well...but how can the king of TDN not know the original game very well?

You don't need to know the game very well just to set up some website. That this is the only website that survived of tens or maybe hundreds was just some kind of luck.

I'm inclined to believe that this website also provided better service than the others; updated more often, and yes, I may grant it some luck for good measure.

Yeah, well this website is kinda like a Dink Smallwood Fan Club. The creator would have to know at least a fair bit about the game or whatever to even start it.

Actually, basicly this is a fan club...

If you don't really like Dink, then why do you "work" here? Why don't you let the people who actually like Dink to run the place?

I like Dink, and I like to play a good D-Mod. Maybe I'm not as "into it" as I used to be but I'm still fond of it.

Regardless, I think the site should be run by people with at least some interest in Dink and a decent competency at website maintenance/moderation, instead of rabid Dink fans who don't know jack about running a website. Though I also have doubts about leaving it in the hands of someone who seems totally uninterested in Dink (Medar anyone?).

Hear hear!

The Dinxperts should provide the game info, tips, tricks, clues, hints, facts, and other stuff. The mods should be there to make sure all this Dinxpertise does not get lost or hopelessly tangled and confused.

And it's even better when we have some people that are quite knowledgeable in both fields (thumbs up, Redink1 & Tal!) (I'm not forgetting the other (senior) staff; just not sure how much moderating they actaully do)

This is a nice, weird, but friendly forum. Let's do our best to keep it that way.

My last saved game (just after killing Seth):
Level: 12
Stats: attack 35 with a fist/defense 15/magic 27
Time: 2:33
Oh, I never bought axes, flame bow and elixirs

June 14th 2006, 12:22 PM
death.gif
You probably aren't going to believe this but here is my new record:

1:24

stats were: 15, 4, 9
I only bought herb boots, a bow, a bomb, and a light sword... in that order too...

Herb boots were the key... I made sure to get them early so that I would be faster...
I also took advantage of the glitch when you save equiped with a sword... then equip herb boots... then die... load it up... and Voila!! The pwer of light sword combined with the speed of herb boots...I could even kill that stupid pig in a matter of seconds...

so how bout your fastest time without cheating?
June 14th 2006, 05:56 PM

Thats not cheating, just magic herb boots...If I wanted to cheat I would just modify Dink stats so that he is super powerful and win real quickly...

That's ultra mega cheating.

But really, whats your fastest time without any cheats or glitches or any other crap like that?

cheating as in.. using the glitch to make yourself faster... its one thing to use herb boots, but to take advantage of the glitch to make yourself faster and using a sword at the same time is in my book considered a form of cheating. So how about i rephrase my question.. what's your fastest time without cheating or taking advantage of a glitch?
June 14th 2006, 10:26 PM
death.gif
I only did the sword thing to kill Seth... But otherwise I just used herb boots. It may have taken me, maybe at most 10 more minutes to kill Seth without the sword and boots at the same time, okay?... I still have the save from before I killed him... let me try.

Also is Seth easier to defeat in a newer version? In my old one I was just doing one damage sometimes with about 40 attack. Later I killed him with a massive bow and powershot but I'm not sure if that was in the same version. I should try it out before concluding anything it could easily be me.
June 15th 2006, 04:54 AM

I don't know... I did it with 1.8, but I don't know whether it makes Seth easier or not.

I doubt you could beat the game with 1 HP with the dragons casting harm unless you can find a way to avoid them all together.

I of course know the game like the back of my hand....... HEY! A I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE!! (I yell in excitement) I just started playing Dink again a few weeks ago and it took me 7 and a half hours, but then I got everything also...
