I need help with the Contributors 'ranking' categories. Here are the categories for people posting on the board:

None
Relative Newbie
Graduated Newbie School
Almost-Regular Poster
Regular Poster
Super-Regular Poster
Uber Poster

I don't really like those categories... they're simply not very clear and concise. If anyone could think of some other category names that would work better, I'd be very appreciative.

I'm also going to add in category rankings for Reviews and Files, but I have no ideas for them at all. Once again, I rely on you, and you alone! Suggest something, dangit

Well, I giggled about the Uber Poster, so that's fine with me, but if you want other ones... geez... Does it have to do something with the ammount of posts? Or with the number of released files? Or how long someone is a Dinker, regardless of how many posts/files?

Oh, heh. I guess I should explain what the ranking would mean, hehe.

The ranking categories signify the *amount* of whatever the user has done. For example, the three Uber Posters (me, Sabre, and WC) all have posted more than half of the max amount of posts by a user. The next ranking is more than a fourth of the max amount of posts by a user, and so on.

The reviews and files would be like that, but with different ranking categories.

Yeah Jamie, only us superior beings get to be uber-posters. Oh yeah, and all species of Sabre...
But I do think Jamie's ranking system is pretty good, though I would make mine as such...
- Newbie
- Peasant
- Commoner
- Squire
- Knight
- Noble(man or woman)
- Special (If you are at this level, you can ask the staff for your own slightly different type, though they of course get to decide. For example, if Jamie ever got there : Man of Ice, or whatever)
- Staff (Staff would have staff, but automatically qualify for as special, and can have their own moniker if they wish).

Maybe that's all a bit overcomplicated, but you get my drift. That way, IMHO, stalwarts of the community would have somthing special to make them feel all warm inside. Ahhh.

Hey, we're talking about the ammount of posts here and not about knights and quests and such! I think it's a bit weird to call someone who post a lot a knight and to have special things for people who post really a lot.

I think a mix between amount of posts, and reviews, and files is the best...but that is very complicated (I assume) and could lead to a return of point whoring...
And I don't wanna be a Knight, I wanna be "Baron Sabre the IV".
Though seriously, it would be nice to have a cool name to seperate us upper class Dinkers from the scum...and by scum I mean anybody but me.

The main problem I can see is that you might get people posting EVERYWHERE just to become a higher ranking on the table. Hmmm...

- None
- Relative Newbie : Newbie
- Graduated Newbie School : Peasant
- Almost-Regular Poster : Yeoman
- Regular Poster : Commoner
- Super-Regular Poster : Noble
- Uber Poster : (royalty of some kind)

But I do still think that somehow reviews, or files should be taken into account. Though perhaps if you only include files only over a certain point score (say...7) so as to avoid point whores releasing lots of poor files.
But am I really one of the top 3 posters? Wow! Maybe that's why I never finish my d-mods...Dang...

See where this system of rankings are already going at? Eh? No wonder they have to take down stuff like # of posts, and rankings and the like.

I'm only kidding. But I do thing it would be nice to have people who are regulars at the network to have some sort of distinction from those who are not. Even the system as it is is OK, but I just feel it could have better names.

I somewhat agree. If you do things to help the community, you should be given a award, hence why they have DOTM and such. But no one else should be put down for what they haven't done. Suck it sabre.

Hang on a second! Redink asks for idea's, people give them (including me)...why should I "suck it"?
Just because I feel having different titles for whatever (be it for posts, files or anything, as is the case on many forums) why does that mean I should suck it?
And it wouldn't be putting others down at all...not in my opinion anyway...

That is actually quite a good idea magic-man! Though perhaps dragon whould be the best, instead of Stone giant. Or maybe even "Ancient".

I'd rather be called a pig than a slime or pillbug. Why would you put pillbugs, slime, and ducks above pigs anyway. You now because I told everyone that pigs are intelligent and they even quoted me for it.

Edit: disregard everything I just said because i'm sky high on reefer.

Agreed with both of you...
Let's take out the pig then, change the giant into a dragon and put the ancient on top of it all.
