Try "Geneforge" - the 'demo' alone is like a quarter of the game, and its big.

Geneforge is very good. I've played them all and like them all. It's not quite the same as Dink (nothing is) but all of the demos are about 1/4 of the full game and they are very large games so you will get many hours of playing time just from the demos. I prefered Blades of Steel but the original Avernum games are good too. Try them all!

I love the sign in the third chapter that tells you what is prohibited in the town

If you are looking for something try this, this, or this.

I've recently discovered this game. (Amaranthia2) I haven't finished it yet but the game play is very good. The fighting isn't real play like in Dink but the quests and amount of weapons and spells will keep you playing. It claims 50 hours of play time and I think that may be right. Not so sure I understand the clickable links (it could be explained a little clearer for us computer illiterates) so I will just copy and paste here... http://www.amaranthia.com/ "http://www.amaranthia.com/"

edit try here

Chop your own wood, and it will warm you twice.
You mean Ahriman's Prophecy? I played about two years ago. It was great.
