I found a neat little cheat that will help you solve the sliding tile puzzle. Note that you have to do some of the work (in its initial setup, the cheating tool can't solve it), but once you get a few numbers in place, it seems to work rather well.

Nice thingy. I'm glad you liked my puzzle. Here's a small trick I found for filling the first two lines:
1 and 2 are easy to place;
place 3 where 4 should be(this is no poetry );
then try to place the 4 in 3's place, and you'll see that you just placed them in the right order.
do the same thing for 5-8.

Can't make the cheat to work/solve it and I can't get all the numbers aligned (there's usually one flipping pair I can't get in the right position). Any suggestions or should I just give up the d-mod?

Just keep trying. I was stuck at that point for a while, but I eventually solved it.

Daniel, there are clowns. 
Push a few of the blocks into the correct spaces in the order, then use the program that redink1 posted with the current configuration on screen. It should be able to solve the rest for this completely unnecessary puzzle.

Yeah, that's true. Some people just can't use their brain for more than locating the "Ctrl" key and use it to hit pillbugs.

Hey, bad game design is bad game design. Throwing in pointless, boring, random puzzles that show off "hey look what I can do with mah l33t skillz" does not make a good d-mod. Same as having someone fight through nigh-endless gauntlets of pillbugs.

1-2-4-3
5-6-8-7 but that didn't help at all...

Well anyways, Striker, what I really want to know is this one thing which I'm guessing many people have also wondered as well (and this question is for anyone). I think it will solve all of the puzzle problems and make the game run smoother:

Where is the d-mod's DinkSolution walkthrough? I mean, didn't anyone finish the game?

Okay.

That settled, Cypry, I do have to agree with Mr. Striker here, especially since there's no walkthrough to give us a direct answer to these confuzzling puzzles. Because players would spend a long time with solving these puzzles but just can't come up with the right solution (unless they come onto this forum, spending days and maybe even weeks trying to pry the solutions from the other forumers or what other resources have they here), the easiest solution for them is to simply give up and quit playing the d-mod altogether. And, I think that's a shame, since you've obviously put great work into creating it; I really hate to see it all being thrown away.

If you're still able to make alterations, I strongly suggest that you use much easier puzzles or lose them altogether. OR, add a screen or two where people can find out the answers. Remember, the point of your d-mod is Matridge's quest, not trying to solve puzzles.

Ok, I didn't work on any D-Mods for a long time, so my DinkC skills are a bit rusty. When I'll find some time(maybe in a few weeks, I'll add some button to skip puzzles, for players that don't want to play them).
Anyaway, since Martridge is a wizard, not a warrior, I thought he should use more brain than muscles, so I put many puzzles in this game.

(I'm sorry if I sound impatient and grouchy, but eventually, I had to come to say all of this, I believe)

At this point, the puzzle has gotten to be very frustrating. At first, I was pretty patient with it. Now, after it's been a little under an entire year, I'm starting to feel a bit hasty with how to solve the dang thing; I still haven't been able to figure it out! If anyone can please simply list the moves that I'm suppose to make, I and probably many others too would greatly appreciate it and give MUCHISIMO thanks to you.

I'll admit that each time I spent on the puzzle wasn't that long. However, the time I have to play Dink Smallwood are rather limited; I think it's rediculous that, playing a game of mystery and quest, I sit myself the entire time that I only have available for Dink to solve a complicated meazly puzzle that has absolutely nothing to do with the game at hand.

Also, I have tried using the puzzle solver offered by redink1 way back. Non of the random inputs that I thus far gave it worked, and I have tried more than one day to do this. Also, I'm not sure what is meant by moving "a few pieces in the right place" and letting the solver do the rest. What exactly are the specific pieces suppose to be? How many pieces should already be in place before the solver becomes affective? What are the steps to moving those few pieces there??

Again, I'm sorry to seem so impatient, but at this point, I really would like to get on with this game. When I first downloaded this game, Cyrpy's nice designs and storyline has gotten me excited about playing the game, and I really like to see it to the end. What's so irritating to me is that of all the things in the game, this one puzzle seems to be preventing all of that from happening, this one tiny little thing that has nothing to do with the storyline.

From what I remember, you want to start getting some of the sliding puzzle in order, like around half (that shouldn't be too difficult). Then you input everything into that puzzle solver. It should then give you the correct steps to solve it.

Well, yay! My gosh, after a year, I was finally able to. Thanks so much, Striker! You've always been a great help ever time I come on here.

Just so you all know, I finished the game, having been able to save Beth's father. All else died, however. (Was there any way anyone else could have survived? Or is it that when I got the items (the ice orb, the fish, etc), they were going to die right after anyways?)

That was a really great game.
