On special request of TrayC I hereby announce that my D-mod is almost ready - about 99%.

The title is Dry.

I guess I can just copy some of the readme.txt:

History:

As all (or most) authors, this isn't the first D-mod I created, but it is the first one I finished. Since the first D-mod I started to work on was leaning towards an epic and my programming skills aren't sufficient enough yet to finish that one, I decided to make another one - a small one, with a desert in it.

While working on this D-mod, the desert turned out to be a funny place - a weird place.

A place were things aren't always what they seem. And I decided to let go all the presumptions I had about how things should be in Dinks world.

Dry is the result of that. So don't expect things (humans, objects, music and such) to behave like they should or like you think they should, because they probably won't.

Don't forget to talk and hit everything because everything is scripted. The only things that aren't scripted are the backgrounds, and the objects that stand too close to another object to have a seperate script.

Description:

Dink visits a friend he hasn't seen for quite some time.

A rather short description, but what else is there to say? Just find out for yourself!

Version History:

July 2002: first 9 scripts plus some mapping.

September 2002: some more scripts, some mapping and modifying graphics and tiles.

October 2002: rest of the scripts, adding music, modifying some more graphics.

November 2002: last scripts - some things I have to find out (hence the questions, TrayC ), then beta testing can start.

Release depending on beta testing.

No new spells, the boomerang is the weapon.

As far as size and such (on this date, might change a bit):

between 9 and 10 MB

188 squares

28 new sounds

95 new midi's (mostly short ones)

347 new scripts

25 modified tiles

Mostly modified new graphics, some rather heavily modified, one entirely new: a birdie

How many graphics? Well, there are now 1943 files in the D-mod, so that's 1943 minus sound effects, midi's, scripts, tiles and other files, so that's about... what? 1200, 1300, 1400 modified graphics? I lost count... There are only a couple of graphics used in Dry that aren't modified.

Well, is your curiosity satisfied?

Colour wise, that is. But it still was a lot of work.

Hey Bin did you find that replacing the colors of

the dink graphics affected the dink pallete a lot

I had a lot of trouble with that when I was still

trying to make dmods all the time before I left the

community a few times. Hehehe I opened up a few of my old projects that were in the midst of development. Lo and behold I had one there with the updated autumn tiles(I haven't released them) Which has autumn tile changes for almost all the tiles now. Also some various graphics like trees and bushes. Lol before I digress further; I had trouble with the pallete flickering a lot and then just changing everything brown, I.E. dinks green pants became brown etc.. A way I figured out how pauls pallete tricked worked btw Was just wondering.

Yes, it does. Don't know why...

I had a lot of trouble with that when I was still trying to make dmods all the time before I left the community a few times.

So did I when releasing Item Icons Pack! It took me 2 updates to finally learn what Dink Palette acutally is. And still missed one dang icon. Think I'm going to make a patch for that.

Hehehe I opened up a few of my old projects that were in the midst of development. Lo and behold I had one there with the updated autumn tiles(I haven't released them) Which has autumn tile changes for almost all the tiles now. Also some various graphics like trees and bushes.

That should be very cool! And better the the ones that are now in the Autumn tiles. Those have all different colours, so you can't combine them. But bushes and such to go with them is a good idea.

Lol before I digress further; I had trouble with the pallete flickering a lot and then just changing everything brown, I.E. dinks green pants became brown etc.. A way I figured out how pauls pallete tricked worked btw Was just wondering.

What do you mean with Paul's Palette trick? To get all the icons right? What I did with Item Icons is: load a graphic of Dink in your graphics programme (I use PSP) and save that as Dink Palette. Then open the graphic you want to modify, choose colours, then load palette and then double click on your newly made Dink Palette. Then the colours will change sometimes - sometimes not.

Mostly the problem is that the colour will fade a bit, get a bit darker when loading Dink Palette. Then you can undo, and make the colour lighter.

Well, that's what I did anyway with all those graphics of Dry.

So when is the update on Autumn Tiles?

if you need BETA testing, make sure you use the beta testers roster!! it's still functional, and underused!! there are literally hundreds of people eager to beta test things, for free!! i still can't work out what it's not used that much...
