So, how do you get water from the well? I just get a remark "Looks like a well Sherlock". Hitting it gets a remark "Yeah get some well!!".

You need some armour to get over the spikes - I think you get it from the woman who keeps asking for money.

The shoes are just outside the entrance to the dungeon. Keep pressing talk to find them.

Sparrowhawk is right. You need to pay the girl and her son 1,110 bucks if I remember right, and she'll give you some armor that looks like an axe. Then you can cross the spike field and only get hit for about 1 at a time.
