Quest for Cheese (The)

Description
From the author, "First of all, I'll say
that my dmod doesn't have much in terms of a complex and compelling storyline -- which you probably figured from the stupid title. I instead focused on what really makes a good game: good gameplay! I tried to throw in a good mix of talking to people and fighting baddies, plus I added a few extras not found in your average dmod...stuff like multiple subquests, magic (one new spell!(kind of)), and talking enemies. I went nuts scripting stuff, so be sure to talk to/punch everything you see. And I also put in a buttload of secret areas, all of which have some kind of hint so they're not impossible to find. If you want to find every secret (you'll be rewarded for doing that) it may take a couple hours, so this mod's got a bit more beef than what you may be used to. Hope you like it."

You feed the madness, and it feeds on you.
I've only played through this Dmod once, but I did enjoy it. So I thought why not write a review?

Foreword
This is quite an old Dmod, and it's not very 'serious'... it's meant more for comedy I think, and it did comes across well. I liked most of it, but some parts did bore me a little.

Story
This game doesn't have a real compelling storyline to begin with - The story is to find some cheese because the king wants some. After it kicks off though, there are plenty of little stories amongst it that are quite challenging and just all-out fun. I did find some parts a little cheesy(Hehe, how appropriate), and some parts were a little bland, but it kept me entertained for the most part, so that's the main thing I guess.

Graphics
There weren't really any 'new' graphics, but the graphics were used well, and there were a variety of enemies. Some enemies were quite funny as well, like Harry the Accountant. The mapping was ok, but could have been better in some places, although I think some places were made quite plain on purpose to add to the mood of the Dmod or the paricular scene that was mapped.

Game sounds and music
The music was used well, but the theme used for the main area(the grasslands), was quite repetitive and started to annoy me after a while because it wasn't very interesting. One of my favourite aspects in a Dmod is the sounds and music, and the music in this Dmod didn't impress me as much as I would have liked. I can tell when I really like the music and that I know it fits the scenes in a Dmod, because if this is so, I will often find myself humming it a lot. The sounds were well-used though.

Overall
The Quest for Cheese is a good Dmod, which achieved the mood it was going for, but could have been mapped better in some places. There are also a few bugs which could have been fixed(mostly hardness and mapping errors), but I did enjoy it and I would recommend it if you are looking for a funny Dmod to keep you entertained for a while.
