Hype
Should D-Mods be hyped? Or would you rather be surprised out of nowhere when someone releases an awesome D-Mod?
Hype:The Time Quest actually turned out to be a pretty good game, despite it's extreme lack of fame...
Nah, considering the number of d-mods that keep getting talked about but never done, I don't think we need any more hype.

no hype, no, so if you are working on something and this is some way of you decding wether or not you should release it without hype. You kinda already blew your cover.
I like a little hype shortly before release... I don't like the Dink trend of hyping something all to hell and then not even releasing something as measly as screenshots, let alone the D-Mod itself.
I don't like making previews, people could say it's crap before you release it...
I used to hype my d-mods quite a lot, but it's really a very bad idea unless the d-mod is approaching completion.
What is the poiut in hyping a d-mod that won't possibly be finished for another year (at the least)?
Maybe once the d-mod is about to hit Beta, that is the right time to hype it... but only if it is ACTUALLY gonna be something special.
Like Cloud Castle 2.

I like hype, but only if you've passed the 50% completion point. I used to hype my d-mods too, but now I'm quietly working on them and won't hype anymore until it's like 98% completed and ready for betatesting.
You working on something worth hyping Redink?

Hype is pointless. You don't really need to sell people D-Mods, do you? It's not even as if there's a load of competition for it to get lost in. If it's good, then word will spread on release anyway.
I could almost understand hype if the hyper were releasing a mod into a much larger mod community, but here...

No speaking bad about dinknet!
But, you don't need to, a good d-mod will get respect...

Uummmm... You DO need to sell your d-mod. I'm sure lots of you don't play every d-mod, UNLESS there's been some hype around it or you're so bored there's nothing else you can do.
nah, if someone releases a good dmod people give it a high score, and then more people will play it.
Authors don't WANT people to wait until the game has been rated and download of the month could have passed, they want everyone to play as soon as possible! Trust me on that.
Besides, playing a game you've been anxious to see still gives me a better feeling than playing one out of the blue.

You mean that the fact that the D-Mod and download link are on the very front page of the Dink Network, possibly with some positive commentary accompanying it, isn't liable to get people downloading it?
it's the combination he means, new d-mods get hyped, classics have a reputation...
What legolas says is true.
And a positive comment accompanying a new d-mod release? That's been a while as the staff usually doesn't play a d-mod before uploading it.

Yeah, usually whatever comment I make nowadays is intentionally misinterpreting the title and thinking of a completely whacked idea for a D-Mod that doesn't have anything to do with it.
Hey Hype really was a good game.
...yeah, I got nothin'.
