Hello. I have played Dink Smallwood (and at least some of its mods) since I was 8 (I think) but I have never really become here and register in until now. So yeah... What I wanted to ask, is that is there something especially important I should know? Also: From where I can check this forum's rules?

Welcome.

Many of us played for a while, then became members years later.

Since you have joined us in earnest now, perhaps it is time you worked on making a dmod for us to play? Quite a few of us are willing to help you get started or assist with any dmod - construction issues that arise. There is also an excellent video tutorial on using WinDinkEditPlus2.exe, that can be found here --> Dmod Creation Tutorials .

Any way, have fun!

Sorry but I afraid my answer will be no.

I am not creator type myself. Even though I have the time, I have no patience to make Dmod although to be honest: I could have the potential since my understanding of PC stuff and coding after learning via tutorials for example could be enough. I also have a very wild imagination and I think I could think of many good story ideas for Dmod(s.)

But in any case: I afraid it would require too much patience and practicing and I doubt I'll ever reach that level

Also thank you.

Well, you can just start out with those video tutorials. They are short, well designed and informative. Then you can always start with something small and short in the way of a dmod, so you can learn as you go.

But if not, then just enjoy the works of others here on the DN. That is (after all) the main reason we are all here.

i dont recommend trying, really. dink is generally really buggy, oftentimes for no reason at all, and who knows if any of the editors work on that windows 10 abomination.

As I said: I doubt I'll have enough patience to do learn how to make Dmods.

That is what I intent to do.

Well, what you say may very well be true. I can't speak for what it is like to use the editors on any of the modern versions of Windoze, as I use WINE emulating 32 bit windows on top of Ubuntu 16.04 when using a tool like windinkeditpluus2.exe.

While there are bugs in the dink runtime executable programs (particularly in the HD versions!) I'd say that if you like to write code and enjoy solve coding problems (like myself), it really is not that hard, though it can definitely be a little challenging once in a while. Heck, I think it's fun to write in DinkC!

Also, I'd say freedink on Linux is one of the more stable versions.
