Okay, I'm (sort of) trying to finish my dmod. Jesus christ it's A LOTTT of work.
Anyways this file has been out for quite a while, but this time I've added and tweaked a few more stuff.
I would like for you to play till the end of it and share what do you think is cool and what's not. Thank you very much for your time!
Instructions:
After the whole scene and the fight with the knight.
Talk to the villagers (You can choose any option when talking, it will never affect the outcome, some choices are funnier).
Head home northwest and talk to the little girl.
You've no voice now, go to Mr Farmer's well and drink water from it to restore your voice.
Head home again and talk to the little girl.
After you wake up on the forest go west and watch the cutscene.
Explore this whole area if you want (which you probably should).
Kill all the spikes around, you'll be exactly level 4 after you've done it.
Go west on the screen with the note and fight the avoca (use savestate on DinkHD).
Go all the way east and after the tree disappears it finishes what I've done.

(Christopher Journey is the dmod name)
Also I highly recommend playing on DinkHD, since the screen is bigger and has ff and savestate.

not even male mermaids have testicles. it's a strange world in atlantis.
I've got a shit ton of free time since I'm on vacation, so you can put me on your testers list.

I don't think there's a list, bluedy. Just use the link in the description.

dink hd has final fantasy? if it's xiii, that explains why it's bad.

Hi!
I tested the DMOD on on FreeDink (development version).
First, I noticed there are no dots at the end of sentences. It's not a major thing, but it's very noticeable for me.
I'm not the biggest fan of the turn based combat (I just feel such systems are just not for Dink), but it's no bad by all means, and one of the core elements of the DMOD.
Knightley has a different colour in combat: black, but he's blue everywhere else.
As for the mapping: Great idea to use these green tiles in the village. It looks good, and I don't think I have seen other DMODs using this tile.
A few map screens seem a bit... blank (like screen 099). Others look very good (battle screens).
However, the are some weird things going on in the terms of hardness:
One of "Mr. Farmer's" pigs walked outside the fence. So there is a hardness error here. But strangely enough, I couldn't do this with Dink - err... I mean Christopher.
So it does not affect the player, only the pigs. Maybe it's a bug in the skeleton DMOD?
I can walk on the buildings... they have mostly problems on their backside.
Also: Tom's necklace - I guess the pig feed is a placeholder.

I tested it on the 1.08 version and I also noticed, that when you attack in a fight, sometimes you can attack again. I don't know if it's supposed to happen, but if it's normal, then oke
The pig feed place holder didn't play the animations for me, but then again, it should be a necklace.
You mentioned a screen with a note and an avoca, however, if you're a level lower than 4, there will be no avoca and the trees in the east won't dissapear. Does that mean that it will be necessary to kill every monster in an area in order to advance?
Other than everything that me and RoamingGuest said, I like this mod. I really like the forest and it's music. Keep working on this Dmod

Hello RoamingGuest and Bluedy, thanks for the feedback.
I'll be fixing everything mentioned here. The dots at sentences and mostly the hardness.
I found out about windinkedit hardness editing just a while ago and will re-do the whole starter village hardness.
And about the avoca, absolutely! You must kill every monster nearby for it to appear.
There should be a note on the screen where the avoca is with some hints.
Thank you again and I'll be working on it!

Okay, so I've developed A LOT after this, anyone willing to test my progress please leave your e-mail and I'll send you the file.
I would like to try the new version. I have a lot of time anyway.
Hey roaminguest I've sent it to your e-mail rangerlord12@gmail.com.
When you reach night at the fire village there'll be nothing else to do, so test it up to that.
You'll have to start a new game, since now you'll start with 100 gold and you'll need it.
If you cannot achieve level 4 at the forest please reply, it's giving exp normally at DinkHD I'm having issues with freedink.
Also note that I haven't added dots in the end of sentences for the previous work but I'll do later.
Please post your thoughts into it later, thank you!

Okay, I found some weird things:
After the meeting at the village square, the screen fades. Now, at that point - Chris can still move. When the screen returns to normal (after narration), the character will freeze (as it's supposed to be). Not game breaking, but weird.
Also, after the fight - I feel Knightley should say something. It just feels like a plothole.
When I try to enter the house of Pete and John, Chris says it's locked.
That would be fine, but the character just gets stuck in a walking cycle and I can't move.
When I enter the tavern, I lose some of the health.
But the problem is, I tried what would happen if I enter-exit several times without drinking. Well, death. Is that supposed to happen?
As for the FreeDink issue with defeating the spikes: this is very strange - when I play it with the most recently (2 years ago may be not too recent) released version, I indeed can't pass the spikes. But when I use the development version (1 year old) it works fine. It seems to be a bug in the current release of FreeDink. I didn't notice any notable problems in the fire village.

Thanks RG! I'll fix all of those.
And what do you think of the dmod so far?
And what do you think of the dmod so far?
The second half seems to be more polished than the first one. The storyline is not amazing, but it's good, since it kept me interested: what will happen next? What's in the background? And being interesting is necessary for a good story. You seem to be experimenting with the mapping - doing something not seen in other DMODs. Such attempts are usually hit-or-miss. But in this DMOD, they are definitely hit. Unique and interesting.
Also: The talk with that black knight - is it a way for Christopher to learn more about Paragon's plans in "undercover" or it's also a way to change sides?

Oh, it's good that you've asked that. It should be explicited that he's only trying to get some information out of axton. I'll fix that.
Oh btw, did you find out that if you go up to your room after the innkeeper goes up to fix it instead of looking at the bookshelf right away, you'll find him there and get your 100 gold back?

Yes, but not on the first occasion. I was curious what would happen if I walk upstairs before I check the bookshelf. Then I discovered it. I think most people are going to examine the bookshelf right away. But I assume this is an optional bonus, right? There are games with such missable small bonuses or sidequests.
Absolutely, it'll make the next part somewhat easier. Like a guy selling a 100 gold one-time item that'll only help in the next starting battle area, will make people think 'what have I missed?'

Could be some weird transgender mermaid.

w-what? that's not how that works.
Any progress? Close to release at all?
fun fact: you're a ducking dumbass.
