well...anyone? i have about 16 chickens and soon to be more cause im hatching some

I have five. Four of them are black and they pick on the white one called Charlie. I call it chicken apartheid. They are delicious though.

i have silkie chickens and frizzeled cochins there both rare breeds and i have some easter eggers there all good pets i would never eat a chicken ever again after raising them

I've alwys wanted chickens as pets, but sadly I don't have time for it.

but I just cut their heads and watch them wander around until they stopped...

glenn chickens aren't very hard to take care of as long as they have food and water they should be fine if your not around or busy and if there females the give you fresh eggs almost everyday and bantam chickens are really easy to take care of cause there smaller and take up less room and the females lay the cutest little eggs! and for a coop you could just use one of those cat cages thats what i have some of my chickens in and it dose make a really good coop and it dosent take up alot of room

and due to that amazing fact that decapited chickens poursue their runs without heads on ^^

there was probly part of the brain steam still on that you didnt cut of so thats probly why they were still running around and they probly bleed to death

Headless chickens are pointless unless you're planning to prepare them for eating after they die. Otherwise, no point.

We have 16 chickens and a duck. When we got the duck, I voted to name him quackers, but they stuck with Filbert for some reason I do not know. Strange little guy.. He chases after the doberman and rapes our other dog when she gets in the pond

when i was in biology class we did an experiment where we hatched little baby chickens and we put food coloring in their eggs so i had a little blue chick but i didnt keep it

mostly i just love to eat them.

me and my mom are both animals lovers i have 16 chickens 1 hamster 1 gerbil 1 cat and 3 snails and 7 chicken eggs in the incubator

I have a little brother a year younger then you, he's nine, and I can BARELY stand him. sorry 'bout your chicken, maybe this'll liven things up, My dog, who is too old to have puppies, had puppies a few weeks ago, My dad gave her some of that Epicor stuff, and she is still thriving, (MAN that stuff's strong!)

i finally stop crying...at least i still have something from my chicken..her egg and me and my mom are hopeing it will hatch we put it in the incubator now we just have to wait...i just hope it will hatch so i will still have a part of her left...i just hope to hear the sound of baby peeps in a few weeks

Sure, it can be sad to lose a chicken. But crying, crying for almost an hour for a chicken. That's just... I don't know. And you still have 15 others left.

Ok, you're not making any sense to me. You know which chicken is sweeter than the others? In my opinion, chickens can't be sweet. Who knows if they're thinking "dang that human is stupid I hate him/her!". So, I think saying that a chicken is sweeter than the other, is a little bit over the top.

Chickens act like that. They always follow you around everywhere. It doesn't tell you they are sweet or that they love you (I'm not saying they don't). It's just their nature to follow everyone around.

Remember, the chickens didn't chooce to be with you. You chosed to be with them.

Well, whatever. It's good if they love you and you love them. Just don't get too close with them. You seem to care more about chickens than humans.

I got alot of chickens too, and you know what they love? Food.
Otherwise they act on instinct (normally). Wandering around, pecking here and there. When I come they run away but when I bring 'em some food they go crazieee.

im with my mom most of the time, my dad is in the air force and fules planes so i don't see him alot (and my parents are divorced),im home schooled, i have very few friends, i don't go out of the house alot so i don't have a whole lot else to really care about.....

if i have food or not my chickens always come running up to me and i know chickens loveeeeeee food

Skull, don't be so dang harsh. If you can't love something or someone as much as someone else, that doesn't mean that that something or someone can't be loved. You may like humans above animals but there are plenty of people in the world that like animals just as they like humans or maybe even better. (Yes there's of course those sick people that love animals in a wrong way but that's not what I'm talking about.) I don't see any reason why the death of a chicken should be less bad than the death of a human. Heck there's so many dang humans in this world that it would be a good thing if half of them would die! Oh and btw, age doesn't have to matter here, I can get attached to animals a lot and I'm 18!

As for me, I know that chickens can be great fun. I was staying at a little farm from an acquaintance of my aunt for a couple of days once. They had about 10 chickens there and I just loved to throw a handful of food to them. Chickens may seem calm and not up to much at first but when it comes to food they're fast as lightning! In the blink of an eye the food was gone. I couldn't believe how fast they were so I threw in some more food to see them in action again. (I didn't think the chickens would mind )

I quess life has handled me in a way, so I cannot love anything or anyone. Sure you would understand me, if I told you what has happened to me in my life.

Well please tell me about it. I've been trough quite a lot myself and I once feared that I would abandon all love and just start to become a rampaging serial killer just because I felt like it. Since you love nobody you probably had to endure worse things than I did, so what was it?

thanks erwin i get attatched to animals very easyly if i see a chick even for a few seconds i already get attatched to it and chickens are very fast when it comes to food my chickens go nuts over raisins if they see a raisins i would drop the raisin on the floor before they came charging over to eat it

No offence but if you don't want to talk about it then you'd better shut the hell up about how life has treated you or how your situation is so much worse than others. If you don't want to explain it but keep referring to your oh so terrible past then I can only guess that it's a big fat lie and that you just want others to feel bad for you for no good stinking reason. If I'm wrong about that please explain it to me, if not just shut up yourself.

Oh, I will explain it to you. I know many people will find this story shocking and some of you don't believe me. But I will not blame you. I have not told this story for many people, and this is the first time I tell it publicly.

My mom died in a fire when I was 10. The fire damaged my skin very bad. I was in a hospital with some other kids for 5 years for people thinking I set the fire even I didn't (we still don't know what caused the fire). You could not get out of the hospital but for one day per week. I was supposed to be there for 2 years, but when one mentally ill kid laughted at me because my mother was dead, I snapped and stabbed him with a piece of glass, so I had to be there for another 3 years. When I got out of there finally, I joined TDN. Then I found this I found my old girlfriend who I had been dating before I went to the hospital. We were about to start dating again, but she left me because of my looks. Yes, ONLY because of my looks: The burning marks on my face and right arm. After that I was in a car accident, which broke two or three of my fingers. And just a while ago, I found out that my little brother is completely psychotic b astard.

So that probably is a good enough reason to get angry for people who pity themself for so small reasons. If it isn't, then pray to Jesus that I will stop. Still I try to keep myself acting normal and keep up some humor, though sometimes it's very hard.

The end of story. Call me a liar, but it is true. Hate me, but I don't care. I've gone so much through in my life.

Well, I have probably meant there that I never had an "actual girlfriend". Like when I'm over 18. If it's not that, I don't know why I have said that.

And when I said "people said I set the fire" it was actually my little brother who told I set the fire. Yes he said it, but I just didn't want to tell it. My little brother's gone through so much, and I didn't want to tell all the stuff he's done in here.

but do you know how much cruelty gose into making Mcdonlds chicken and kfc's chicken and other animals? chickens necks are cut alive and sculded alive there beaks are cut off when there baby and die from slow starvation and they will never fell the sun on there face and they have broken legs, wings, and there pumped with drugs and all sorts of chemicals

and there stuffed in cramped areas with thousands of other chickens and can barley move around just think, you wouldnt want to live in a cramped space with thousands of other chickens and have broken legs and wings..

If you start thinking it, would it be better that humans die for not getting food, instead of animals to die. You know, they pretty much kill only those animals that there are EVEN MORE than humans.

animals are like humans you know they feel pain and having there legs broken would be like if your leg was broke i bet you that would hurt and being put in sculding water for feather removle WHILE there there alive would hurt to..

Whatever, I have no regrets when I eat meat. But I quess I haven't just been made to understand animal lovers. Well, I'll shut up now.

I seem to have missed the juicy bits of this conversation , but back to the beginning: I used to have chickens as pets, and a duck once. I think we'll be getting some more soonish, they're nice to have clucking around.

The local fox was also rather fond of them... hopefully now we have the garden fenced properly they'll survive a bit longer

Personally I doubt I'd keep a pet bird at all, I preffer cats. You can give them more roaming space if you like, and they always come back

A little more on topic to what was being said earlier though, Chickens in New Zealand aren't cage farmed like in other locations. We had people complaining about Cage-farmed pigs at some stage not long after the first outbreaks of Swine Flu for some reason, but most pigs are free-range, kept in a paddock like area. Kiwi Chickens are kept in coops, but I'm pretty sure they don't have many, if any , cage-farms for chickens here.

The only pets I've ever had were dogs, which I love, and I absolutely loathe cats. I think I may have had a bird when I was very young, I don't remember how it died, though.

Really, I'm not against animal rights, but I don't believe that animals oare equal to humans, or even close: For instance, I was reading a forum once, where this guy had apparently tortured and killed a puppy (Australia, if I remember correctly, which I probably don't). The premise was that he should have to receive the maximum penalty, which was somewhere between 2 and 3 years, and I couldn't remember what the fine was. Entirely justified, right? However, I was reading it, and most of the people posting were saying stuff like, we should cut off HIS legs, and see how he likes it. I was all WTF, lol? So my cousin trolled them. Your thoughts?

TL;DR: An eye for an eye when it comes to animals-humans: Completely ridiculous.
PS: Furries are bad, too.

It's a touchy subject... I can understand why people feel so strongly about it, though I don't think most would actually sentence the offender to death, if they were given the power to do so. Animal rights are often stomped on, the penalties are minimal (2-3 years? Awesome, but replace "years" with "hundred euros" and you have a much more likely scenario), and getting caught for torturing animals is a feat in itself.

Imagine the dog is not just some dog, but your family pet that you grew up with, and some loser beats him to death because he gets an erection off it, and walks away from it. Wishing for blood at that point is completely justified. It's easy to connect with some story like that, even if it's not *your* pet.

A much bigger factor is that doggies and kitties are supercute and always innocent. Kicking a puppy is such an incomprehensible act of pure evil, that it's easy to hate the person responsible.

Having said that, I also think that trolling is a great response to a bunch of raving animal nuts.
