The Dead Dragon Carcass invites you to the first bi-annual tri-quarterly second semester season two stage 11 volume B DDC D-MOD contest (part 3) featuring super crazy dinkers like you: read comments for detail

rules

1. DO NOT upload file to DN or it will be disqualified. send all entries to joshkozxiii@gmail.com

2. the theme of the D-MOD must involve the Dead Dragon Carcass, preferably the worshiping of it thereof or herein the disclosure of its sweetness and rulerary

3. fore score and seven year ago the D-MOD must be beatable! IE it has an ending

4. nudity is acceptable (by you or of you)

time limit for this project is 3 months. (that means it is due january 1, 2009)

prize allocation is as quoted accordingly:

1st prize: Dead Dragon Carcass wall clock and a headless duck pin

all other contestants will be rewarded with headless duck pins when applicable (IE you didnt just send me a piece of crap to get a free pin)

a. DDC comes to life and reforms his cult into hotdog worshippers

b. the DDC is taken hostage by austrailian dingos and dink smallwood is blackmailed into getting it back

c. Tal decides to turn his life around and start doing good deeds toward mankind, but is torn between two worlds of his desire to do good and his deceitful past as a member of the DDC-cult and beating total strangers

FYI, you may want extend the deadline beyond 3 months if you want anything of quality that takes more than 20 minutes to play.

Make several clocks. Then put all except the one for the contest prize on E-bay. I'd buy one, since I know I won't get a prize

Why not proposing as a requirement that the DMod should last around 27-33 minutes of play, and just be uploaded as soon as being finished by its author? Ah?

I have taken the effort of copying and renaming a skeleton. Does that count as progress?

Surprisingly, I've already done quite a bit of mapping and scripting, I got right into this for some reason and now I've ended up with something that has nothing to do with the dead dragon carcass lol. I guess I could work it into the end though, as in Dink finds out that whatever is causing evil (don't wanna say too much about my Dmod) is a secret group that worships the dead dragon carcass, would that still count?

Anyway, it probably doesn't matter, I'll probably almost be done with my Dmod and then never get around to making the end, that's what happens with all the Dmods I make, can't get up the motivation to finish them off. O_O

I'm gonna enter this one, because although the odds are 10/1 that I'll get first, I'm going to get a duck pin!

Like I said in my previous post, I doubt I will finish this in time for the contest, but if I don't meet the deadline, I might still release it anyway (if I finish it that is)

It seems you need to fix the grass: It looks repetitive.

The third screen is in the underworld, where things are distorted. You'll have to move to this world sometimes to pass through some places.

Thanks for the comments and tips on my Dmod, I will fix the errors pointed out later on, as I want to at least try and get my Dmod finished before the deadline, so I'm concentrating on the storyline for now and I'll fix the errors later.

I have been making more progress, I might post more screenshots in a week or so.

Still, I doubt I'll get this done in time for the deadline.

It is about the 35th day of 90. It mean it is 39% of total contest time, wich is already too much. Is anyone below the schedule? Has anyone completed less than 39% of the DMod?

I have an intro, most of a storyline, part of a map and... not much else. Hopefully it will be done in time.

I got the intro complete, first quests, some mapping and scripting. Still long from finished...
I haven’t really been working on it so much lately, but maybe it’s time to continue.

I decided to enter and I've got my title screen and 10% of the intro done. I sudenly got a burst of motivation somehow and I may be able to finish in time.

3 people working on it is good enough for me to extend the deadline by 1 month

Six! Robj, Castman and Rabid are (were?) also making one. Maybe SabreTrout as well.

Btw when it's finished how will they be available here for everyone? Will you upload them or us after the judging?

My PC, where I was making my mod, had a bug on the CD Recorder, so I can't put my mod on a CD to send it to my uncle's PC, which has Internet, so my progress is going very slowly forward, but I'll keep on the project, maybe I can find someway to do it

Maybe anothoer month would be helpful, it's better to wait 4 months for some nice mods, than 3 months for two or three romps.

I haven't been working on my D-Mod much lately; I've just had too much to do. I made a "trailer" for it however, check it out!

I have one that might be ready... hopefully it will be if I buckle down to it more.

More time would definitely be helpful if others agree.

i'm not working on this, but i'd say these people need atleast 2 or 3 months more time. even 1 month could save their ass pretty much.

My D-Mod just needs a bit more mapping and storyline. I can finish my D-Mod before February 1st but to do so I would have to cut my story in half. That would result in a small but still well playable D-Mod with a slightly comical ending instead of the more serious one I had planned. I've been busy with adding new things to my D-Mod instead of adding a story line most of the time. If the deadline would be expanded there would be much more room for playing with the new things in my D-Mod.

I don't really mind if the deadline is expanded or not, it would be nice to cut an end to it and see which D-Mod wins (I would probably expand my D-Mod later anyway) but I don't mind to continue working on my D-Mod as much as I am now. One extra month would be just fine I think.

So... Is the deadline still February 1st or do we get more time?

I think I'm going to have to revise my previous statement from 'might be ready' to 'there is not a chance in hell it will be ready'.

My computer is repaired and I'm working on my D-Mod again. I haven't got a clue when it will be ready but I'll let you know when it's nearly done. By the way... does this mean that no one is going to get the DDC clock?

Hey, are we allowed to submit demos, in case our finished DMOD will be huge?

Just watch out so that you eventually finish it, there are so many unfifnished demos on the DN and we need you to break the curse.

We could have a contest where everyone has to finish the same demo/unfinished D-mod that is on the DinkNetwork. That would make the D-mods easier to judge and probably shorter.

I like - even I could (possibly)handle that!

I'm still working on mine. I think I'll just release a demo soon because it itsn't anywhere near finished and I would really want to know how people like it so far.

As far as making money out of it goes, DDC could be a successful fertilizer brand.

Selling it would be an idea if you need the cash, just try to sell it for more than it cost to make/aquire it

i told you what to do to get the clock - make a frickin DDC dmod. and now 8 months later you want to pay money for it do you realize all you had to do was send in a game with 1 or 2 screens that had a dead dragon carcass and you would have won the clock because nobody else made even one?

I'm against DDC D-Mods. It's a matter of principle.
