Warranty for the RROD was extended. So you should have warranty for the RROD.

Still, it sucks. RROD was one of the reasons I'd never buy a 360.

I heard rumors that it may be easy to fix on your own. Sadly, I don't know more than that.

Hmm. The main problem I foresaw was that I have no proof of purchase - Unless I stuffed it to the back of a drawer and forgot about it.

But hang on... if it's a 3 year warranty, and the console hasn't been out for three years... they should give me a new one. Sadly, I'm not sure Microsoft would agree with that policy.

I'll look into my options.

I live in constant fear of that ring. One by one, my friends are picked off, never to return - I fear I may be next.

I think it's a kind of board game.

I'm trying the towel trick on my 360. I'll let y'all know if it proves as magical as I've been told.

Towel trick worked for about 2 and a half minutes. Never mind.

I'm in the process of sending it to get replaced. Microsoft haven't got a clue... from the website, it looks like I can get a new one/repair job free of charge, but the person I spoke to said I'd have to pay £60 as the console was 2nd hand - and therefore not covered by the warranty.

After over a week waiting for my Xbox coffin to arrive, and receiving an e-mail asking whether I still needed my 360 fixed, I called Microsoft today.

It seems they don't send out coffins anymore. It doesn't matter that the original e-mail they sent me said they had shipped the box to me, or that the customer services agent told me I would receive packaging to return it in. They don't do it anymore.

So I've now arranged to have my 360 picked up tomorrow, and can expect to wait another 4 years before I get it back. I would have shouted at the customer service people in an effort to get free stuff... but I'm not that guy.

Anyway, UPS just picked up my 360. Hopefully things will go a bit more smoothly from here on in. Dang, I miss Halo 3.

That is such a poorly thought out comment, I don't even know where to begin with how much it angers me.

That game is far better than Halo. Think of it like Tony Parker, compared to Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant would easily kick his butt, just like Haze would Halo's. And Haze is also made for PS3, which is better than the XBox by far.

It's not better than Halo. It's not even better than Dink Smallwood - It hasn't been released yet, and you can't make any accurate assessment of its quality.

First of all, nothing is better than Dink Smallwood. Dink Smallwood is God.

And second of all, you may be right about that, but I still think it's better.

And third of all, even though you didn't say anything about it, PS3 is better than the XBox 360.

I didn't comment on that because I don't want to get into some 12 year old fanboy debate about which console is better. They both have good and bad points.

But, at this time, the 360 is clearly a superior game console; it actually has some good games. This may change in the future when the PS3 gets some decent releases... but there's pretty much nothing worth playing on it yet.

Now, that depends on the players preference. I like NBA 08 on it best. As it's awesome. And Resistance is awesome as well. And I must say, I think the graphics on PS3 are better.

And stop insulting me about my age. It's getting dang annoying and I'm no taking a very good liking to it.

That actually wasn't directed at you for being 12... I could just as easily have typed a different age. I'm basically not willing to get drawn into a console debate.

People will stop "insulting" you about your age once you stop acting it. Cause like it or nay, you behave like your age.

So, my console has arrived at the service centre. After phoning customer services to try and push for a quick return and to make a complaint about the LIES they sent to me via e-mail, I feel like a right miserable git.

Then again, I was told I'd get 3 months or so of free Live (Was hoping for more than that...), so it's not all bad. The guy I was chatting to (Jim) was pretty helpful actually... though he did try to smooth things over by blaming "miscommunication" rather than admitting Microsoft were being a bunch of incompetent pricks.

He also said he'd "pass a note along" to try and get my console fixed quicker. Yeah, right.

Asking them to get your console fixed quicker will probably net you... nothing special. You may be a Dink star, but, yeah.

3 months of free Live is nice though. In the US, we only get one free month after having to send in our systems, as far as I'm aware.

In all honesty, I don't expect to get it any quicker. No harm in asking though - I hope not, anywho.

We'll have to wait and see whether they come through with the 3 months or not. If it doesn't happen, I'll certainly be getting back in touch.

Anyway, I can't really decide between XBOX and PS3 since I haven't played either of them I did enjoy PS1 and PS2 quite a deal so I *might* have chosen the PS3.

EDIT: Crap, that wasn't even the topic...

After checking my repair status online, it would be appear that I no longer have any registered devices. From what I have heard on the interweb, this means my console is being replaced with a different one.

I'm hoping it will be a new one, though I fear it's rather more likely that Microsoft will patch me up another broken console with sticky back plastic. We must wait and see.

Well, it now appears that it's my console being sent back. Also, it says on the website that it has been shipped... so I guess I should be receiving my console in the next day or two.

If I do, I'll have had it shipped out and returned within the space of a week.
