I saw a sparrowhawk today!
For the first time!
...And I'm pretty happy about it, so I just thought I'd say so.
Edit: Btw, is there anyone else around here interested in birds at all?

Lol, if this is the bird (no, I don't mind of birds at all) I think it is, I would have never quessed that 'Sparrowhawk meant that bird.
It is called in Finland as 'Kanahaukka' (IF this is the bird I think it is) so it would mean in english. Henhawk.
Heh.

I live at countryside(well, actually, most of the time i'm at college, in a city) and i have many birds in my yard(hens).
Nope, sparrowhawk = varpushaukka, it's a direct translation. The birds do look similar though so they're easy to confuse, according to my dictionary kanahaukka = goshawk. Umm, ok. Nevahööd.

ever heard of a chicken hawk
That sounds more familiar, I think the problem is that kanahaukka refers to a specific bird in finnish while chicken hawk is more of a common term.
It seems to be the same with sparrowhawk, the finnish varpushaukka refers to the Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus) specificly, checking wikipedia for that though so I'm not completely sure about anything.

There is a bird called a hen harrier...
What does nevahööd mean?
What does nevahööd mean?
I think
Nevahööd = Never heard.
Not sure, though.

That's awesome you know about such a thing Tal. I've never heard of it.
I took a class in Ornithology last year and did alot of bird watching. It was very fun. I can see why Sparrowhawk is so excited.
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I have yet to come across a rabid wolf.. maybe it's for the best

Yep, it propably doesn't make much sense unless thinking in finnish.
Also, the Neverhood is awesome.

I imagine a sabre trout could be a rather disconcerting encounter, as well.
I've played that game before! We used to have it! It was mad!! Though it was awfully hard. I remember that really long chamber with a whole heap of writings on the wall.
It seems more likely that Nevahööd = nevermind?
I think he means it's never heard (as in never heard of it) but spelt in Finnish. Transliterated.
Aj, trænsliteræjsn kænn bi verry fønni, bøtt ånnly iff ju ønderstænd vatt is biing sedd.
Erm, yes.
Erm, yes.

O.o

I like you, too, Phoenix.

My favourite bird is the falcon but I've never seen one, I like all birds of prey but I hate chickens, we have lots of crazy, inbred chooks at my place.
Heh, I only just saw that post, Striker. Methinks a real life sabre trout would be most worrying.
