That sounds more familiar, I think the problem is that kanahaukka refers to a specific bird in finnish while chicken hawk is more of a common term.
It seems to be the same with sparrowhawk, the finnish varpushaukka refers to the Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus) specificly, checking wikipedia for that though so I'm not completely sure about anything.
